Development Journal — babuni.dev
This is an edited account of the development process, not a verbatim transcript or a record of completed software unless explicitly stated. Each entry should show Babuni.dev intention → AI proposal → Babuni.dev response/decision → implementation and evidence.
2026-11-01 — GuildChatBridge restored from revised public source
Babuni.dev requested: Check the renamed/revised GuildChatBridge repository and implement its changes in the portfolio. AI interpretation: Restore the previously withdrawn GuildChatAI project under its new public name, retaining stable ID guildchatai rather than introducing a duplicate. This supersedes its 2026-10-28 withdrawal for the active catalog only; the withdrawal remains historical evidence.
Implemented: Connect babunidev/GuildChatBridge main at 483951aea324dec948452f66ac06c9117b5f8bea, anonymously verified, importing its ten standard Markdown documents only. Restore its searchable World of Warcraft menu entry, source links and nine-keyword pool, with one guaranteed World of Warcraft add-on bubble. Its summary explicitly calls it a paused roleplaying experiment: guild-chat capture and manual sending exist in source, but an autonomous AI conversation bridge is absent and unverified. Existing runtime identifiers GuildChatAI, GuildChatAIDB and /gcai remain upstream historical/current implementation details, not an additional portfolio project. No game-code change, resumption decision or client compatibility test is implied.
Alternatives/limits: A rename-only edit could not work because the old project was no longer active. Use its previous semantic identity and source-backed paused status instead of claiming a new completed AI feature. No supplied GuildChatBridge portal artwork was found; the standard colored portal remains until Babuni.dev supplies an image. The active catalog now has 42 projects, 36 connected sources, 35 external snapshots and 41 supplied portal artworks. Preserve all unrelated source snapshots, interaction timing and geometry.
Verification outcome: Content validation and production build passed, with 442 public page URLs verified. The first regression run found a stale imported-document count (326 → 336); after updating that expected count, all 37 test files passed. Browser menu selection centered GuildChatBridge and opened eight Markdown previews, including paused concept/decisions and the new repository link. The screenshot is archived as WebP in the gallery. No addon code or in-game behavior was tested.
2026-11-01 — Authenticated, fresh activity required for production
Babuni.dev direction: The latest commit dates are required to select Recently updated tiles; silently deploying stale dates after GitHub 403 responses is not acceptable. Babuni.dev asked why requests were unauthenticated and how to fix the setup.
AI diagnosis/proposal: The activity reader accepted environment tokens but the local deployment command provided none and CI did not pass its token. Browser/Git authentication does not automatically authenticate Node fetch calls. Reuse a local gh auth token --hostname github.com credential in memory when neither GITHUB_TOKEN nor GH_TOKEN is set; CI must receive an explicit token. Keep the public-visibility/identity check before authenticated commit reads. No new account permission or token scope is requested. The specific historical 403 cause remains unproven because older code discarded its rate-limit headers; rate-limit exhaustion is plausible, not established fact.
Alternatives/decision: More warnings or silently retaining old dates would not meet the author’s freshness requirement. Production prebuild now uses --require-fresh, requires authentication and stops if any connected public source fails. No partial replacement of either activity file is written in that case. Explicit non-production refresh and offline dev/tests retain their existing cache behavior. Fetching each distinct connected repository remains necessary to discover changes; no automatic retry loop or new marker timing/geometry was introduced.
Implemented: The activity CLI resolves environment credentials first and local GitHub CLI login second, without printing/persisting the token. CI passes secrets.GITHUB_TOKEN only to the build step with existing contents:read permission. Error messages expose HTTP status, primary-limit exhaustion/reset and numeric Retry-After when supplied, not raw GitHub response bodies or credentials. Production builds continue to use actual public branch-head committer dates; document snapshots are not silently refreshed.
Verification: Deterministic tests cover credential precedence, CI without credentials, header-only authentication, public-only metadata, safe diagnostics, partial failure preserving both prior files, and successful fresh refresh. A real local authenticated production build refreshed all 36/36 sources; full tests/build and artifact token-leak checks are recorded with the final handoff. No VPS deployment or automatic GitHub Actions deployment is configured by this fix.
Local verification outcome: All 197 tests passed. Authenticated production prebuild refreshed 36/36 public sources, Astro build and 442 public URL/link checks passed. A credential comparison performed in memory found the real build credential absent from all 942 production/generated files. The first artifact check could not access the local credential store under restricted permissions; repeating with permitted local access completed the check. No token was printed or stored. Browser retesting is unnecessary for this build-only change; no new screenshot or physical-device acceptance is claimed.
Published verification — 2026-11-01: The first Git push was rejected because its OAuth connection lacked workflow-edit scope. The existing GitHub repository connector successfully committed the two-line workflow change as e0caefb without granting new permissions; the remaining tested fix was rebased and pushed as 8b99d19. GitHub Actions run 41257743014 completed successfully at that revision: 197/197 tests, authenticated refresh of 36/36 sources and 442 canonical public URL checks. The local testing checkout also refreshed 36/36 dates and restarted on port 4321, preserving existing user document edits and artwork. No VPS upload or automatic deployment was performed.
2026-11-01 — GuildChatBridge portal image
Babuni.dev supplied: GuildChatBridge.webp in the local public portal-content folder, requesting its use for the restored project. AI implementation: Map the image to stable ID guildchatai; resize the 1254×1254 WebP to the existing 512×512 portal standard and encode at quality 88. Preserve the supplied composition and the source file, existing circular mask, title, bubble behavior and project status. No replacement artwork, layout or interaction change was proposed. All 42 active projects now have portal artwork. Verification: WebP container/size and existing artwork-mapping regression checks, content validation and production build; no new physical-device acceptance or addon-runtime test is claimed.
2026-11-01 — Amazin renamed to StealthEmotes
Babuni.dev requested: Replace Amazin with the supplied StealthEmotes repository. AI interpretation/implementation: Update the display name and public connection while preserving semantic ID amazin, the existing Amazin.webp artwork, WoW menu grouping and nine-keyword/add-on classification. Replace only this repository snapshot after anonymous verification; no duplicate project is introduced and other snapshots are retained.
The upstream README identifies StealthEmotes as formerly Amazin, but still contains stale wording that the rename is proposed and the repository remains amazin. The author’s explicit instruction and verified new repository establish the portfolio name; raw upstream history is not silently rewritten. A Project source note distinguishes current repository naming from unchanged Amazin.lua/Amazin.toc, saved variables and /amazin commands. Source behavior is watched-slot emotes and rested-XP reporting, not confirmed successful Stealth detection. No addon-code change, new artwork or runtime test is claimed.
Alternatives/verification: Avoid adding a second tile or renaming installation files without a separate addon decision. Existing Markdown composition handles the imported documents; regression checks verify stable identity/artwork, no old source snapshot and the new source link. Run content validation, full tests and authenticated production build before publication; local restart preserves the user’s document edits and art.
Verification outcome: Imported ten documents at public StealthEmotes revision 27d64df233495178e82d6408fcd8431aecd107e7. Content validation, all 198 tests and production build passed; 442 public URLs verified. Authenticated activity refreshed 36/36 sources. No unrelated repository snapshot was refreshed, and no browser screenshot, addon-runtime or physical-device test is claimed for this metadata/source rename.
2026-10-31 — Connecting the public domain and securing HTTPS
With the first static release already staged and locally checked, I added the www DNS record in Porkbun, keeping the root-domain parking record unchanged. The public resolver then pointed www.babuni.dev to our Hetzner VPS, and an HTTP request returned 200. Following the assistant's instructions, I used Certbot with the separate Nginx site to issue and install its Let's Encrypt certificate; Certbot confirmed success, an expiry of 2027-01-29, automatic renewal scheduling and HTTP-to-HTTPS redirect configuration. The remaining work is to independently test HTTPS, redirection, renewal, live browser behavior and the original Arcanite Brothers service. No agent connected to the server directly.
HTTPS and renewal verification (following activation). From the server, I checked the public website with curl. The HTTPS request returned 200; the plain HTTP request returned 301 with https://www.babuni.dev/ as the redirect destination. A subsequent sudo certbot renew --dry-run successfully simulated renewal of both the new www.babuni.dev certificate and the existing Arcanite Brothers certificate. Afterward, I checked the existing Arcanite Brothers homepage over HTTPS; curl returned 200, verifying the website still responds after the Nginx and TLS changes. A separate request to https://arcanitebrothers.com/health then returned HTTP 200, showing that the existing API health route still responds through Nginx. A synthetic missing-page request to https://www.babuni.dev/__deployment-404-test returned HTTP 404, confirming that nonexistent routes do not silently serve the homepage. After my SSH session closed with a connection reset, I ran the next header check from Nobara. The public homepage still returned HTTP 200, with gzip compression, Vary: Accept-Encoding, Cache-Control: no-cache, X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff, and Referrer-Policy: strict-origin-when-cross-origin. The disconnection did not prevent this external request. Asset-specific cache rules and browser/media behavior still need checking.
Static asset and content delivery (later in the session). After reconnecting to the Hetzner server, I followed the assistant's header checks on the deployed release. Both a fingerprinted CSS file and a JavaScript file returned HTTP 200, the appropriate content types, and Cache-Control: public, max-age=31536000, immutable. The LootFeed project JSON and HTML page each returned HTTP 200 with no-cache revalidation. The public sitemap.xml responded with HTTP 200, text/xml and 32,721 bytes; its contents were not yet audited. These checks establish basic delivery and caching, not that the interactive site looks or behaves correctly in a browser. The local creative revisions and newer repository commits are not part of the deployed release.
2026-10-31 — First babuni.dev release staged on the shared VPS
Creative direction. For the first public hosting preparation, the priority was to preserve the existing Arcanite Brothers site and Morkahja API while keeping my unfinished local documentation revisions out of the production build. After an unnecessary second clone was made and deleted, I pointed the assistant to my established project workspace. A separate clean Git worktree, rather than my working directory, became the release source.
AI guidance and creator execution. The assistant supplied inspection, Git, build, SSH, upload and Nginx commands; I executed them on Nobara and the Hetzner server. Before building, my main checkout fetched and fast-forwarded eight documentation-only commits without touching the locally modified JSON or two untracked artwork/documentation folders. The isolated worktree checked out commit 8e47ce5. On the local machine, npm ci succeeded, the static Astro build generated 430 pages and verified 430 public URLs, and all 191 automated tests passed. The build prepared 336 imported source documents and 41 public module collections.
Deployment and verification. Using the dedicated babunideploy SSH identity, I created /var/www/babuni.dev/releases/8e47ce5/, copied the production dist/ files with rsync (about 21.1 MB), verified its index.html was nonempty and linked /var/www/babuni.dev/current to that release. Through the separate administrator account, I installed the repository's prepared Nginx site under /etc/nginx/sites-available/babuni.dev, enabled it without changing the existing morkahja site, ran nginx -t successfully and reloaded Nginx. A local request to http://127.0.0.1/ with the Host: www.babuni.dev header returned HTTP 200.
Remaining work. This verifies the uploaded release and local HTTP virtual-host response, not a public website launch. External DNS A/AAAA/CNAME records, HTTPS certification and renewal, external browser behavior and post-deployment checks for the existing site remain to be verified. The local editorial revisions are not part of the staged release. No AI tool directly connected to the VPS during this work.
2026-10-31 — Preparing isolated babuni.dev hosting
Creator direction. After updating and renaming the existing Hetzner VPS, Babuni continued preparing space for the babuni.dev website while explicitly preserving the operational Arcanite Brothers site and Morkahja API. The creator performed all commands in the remote SSH terminal.
Inspection and decisions. A request to https://arcanitebrothers.com/ returned HTTP 200. The only enabled Nginx site was a symbolic link named morkahja. The creator displayed its configuration, which serves files from /var/www/morkahja, proxies selected API paths to 127.0.0.1:3000, and uses an existing dedicated Let's Encrypt certificate. The AI recommended a separate versioned-release tree and an unprivileged deployment account. The repository already had a prepared, not installed, Nginx configuration for www.babuni.dev.
Creator-executed preparation. Babuni created /var/www/babuni.dev/releases (the path previously did not exist). Babuni ran sudo adduser --disabled-password --gecos "" babunideploy and checked the account with id and getent passwd: UID/GID 1002 and memberships babunideploy and users, with home /home/babunideploy and shell /bin/bash; no sudo group was shown. Babuni then ran sudo chown babunideploy:babunideploy /var/www/babuni.dev /var/www/babuni.dev/releases with no reported errors. The account's purpose and scope were proposed by AI and implemented by the creator; the directory ownership was subsequently verified with ls -ld /var/www/babuni.dev /var/www/babuni.dev/releases: both directories showed drwxr-xr-x, owner and group babunideploy, and mode 755.
Verification and limits. The original Nginx configuration was read, not edited; the existing website returned HTTP 200 before deployment preparation. No deployment SSH key, dist/ upload, current release symlink, new Nginx activation, DNS change or TLS setup is reported yet. Directory ownership and accessibility were verified. The next proposed stage is separate, scoped SSH key access for babunideploy from the creator's Nobara computer.
SSH deployment access (later in session). Babuni generated a separate passphrase-protected ED25519 keypair on the Nobara computer for babuni.dev deployment. Only its .pub file was copied to the Hetzner VPS, using the existing administrator SSH connection. As administrator, Babuni created /home/babunideploy/.ssh with mode 700 and owner babunideploy, then installed the public key as .ssh/authorized_keys with mode 600 and matching ownership. A new local SSH connection with ssh -i ~/.ssh/id_ed25519_babuni_deploy -o IdentitiesOnly=yes babunideploy@89.167.120.88 succeeded and showed babunideploy@babunidev. The private key and its passphrase stayed on the local computer. My verification: While logged in as babunideploy, I ran whoami && test -w /var/www/babuni.dev/releases && echo "Deployment directory writable". The output was babunideploy followed by Deployment directory writable. This confirms that I can write a release with the dedicated account without sudo. I have not uploaded any website files yet; the next planned stage is obtaining a reviewed static build and transferring it to this release directory.
2026-10-31 — Giving the shared VPS the babunidev hostname
Creator direction. After recovering the existing hosting services following the OS reboot, Babuni requested changing the Ubuntu server hostname from morkahja-alpha to babunidev. This was a naming change for the shared server, not a request to rename the existing application, Linux users or website.
AI contribution and checks. The assistant requested read-only inspection before editing. The existing Arcanite Brothers website returned HTTP 200 via curl. Nginx's sites-enabled directory contained one existing morkahja symlink, which was left untouched. Inspection of /etc/hosts showed that cloud-init managed it, and the main and Hetzner cloud-init configuration files both specified preserve_hostname: false. The assistant guided a standalone late cloud-init override rather than editing Hetzner's original configuration.
Creator-executed implementation. Babuni created /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d/99-preserve-hostname.cfg with preserve_hostname: true and manage_etc_hosts: false; replaced the old hostname with babunidev in /etc/hosts; and ran sudo hostnamectl set-hostname babunidev. The creator performed these commands directly over SSH. No AI agent ran commands on the VPS.
Verification and pending work. hostnamectl --static returned babunidev. The terminal prompt still showed its original shell-session name, so the assistant recommended exec bash to refresh it; its result and persistence after a future reboot have not been reported. No server website, Linux account, IP or Nginx configuration was renamed, and babuni.dev has not yet been deployed.
2026-10-31 — ActionEmotes #1 identity and public-source update
Babuni.dev confirmed: Buxbrew Charge is now ActionEmotes #1 and its public repository is babunidev/ActionEmotes-1; import its added documentation into the portfolio. AI verification/execution: verify public visibility and main branch, import only this project’s ten standard documents at bb9bac59c88db3f05f824519eaaf2e37cb780e59, replace the retired snapshot/source key, and update the display name, repository mapping and source-based action/emote summary/topics. Stable ID buxbrewcharge, existing public page paths and BuxbrewCharge.webp artwork remain, avoiding duplicate tiles or broken stable URLs. Refresh this repository’s verified commit metadata for the opening chronology and regenerate the connection report. Other repository snapshots are not refreshed. Source limitation: the README still describes the rename as proposed and the repository as retaining the former name; preserve its imported wording as source evidence while using the human-confirmed current identity in portfolio labels/links. Addon files/runtime behavior are not changed or tested. Verification: rename/source/artwork regression coverage, full tests, content validation, static build and generated page/link checks run before publication. No browser screenshot, VPS or DNS changes.
Integration and results: preserved newer online per-visit assortment/recent-update gold feedback and VPS maintenance notes through a clean rebase. All 37 test files, content validation, static build and all 430 public-URL checks passed on the combined tree. The verified renamed-repository date feeds the current recent-update metadata; no override of the newly approved assortment behavior is introduced. Other imported documentation snapshots remain byte-equivalent in parsed content.
2026-10-31 — Import Action Emotes #1 final documentation baseline
Babuni.dev supplied: merged ActionEmotes-1 PR #1 and final commit e475a45108753c9eda8de1e774e2ba95058d65c0, requesting their revised documentation and outstanding BuxbreCharge.toc installation concern appear on the website. AI verification/execution: verify PR #1 is merged at that exact commit and publicly fetch all ten standard documents, replacing only this project’s snapshot. Its first-person history and documentation baseline now feed blooms/readable pages/readers; the prior proposed-rename wording is resolved by the new upstream README. Update verified activity metadata and add repository/review/commit links to the existing Project source module, explicitly stating that the historical filename remains unmodified and needs an installation check. Preserve stable project identity/artwork and all other repository snapshots. Verification: regression coverage, content validation, static build and all public page/link checks run before publication. No addon installation, in-game or filename change, browser screenshot, VPS or DNS action claimed.
2026-10-31 — Varied bubble keywords and publication decisions
Babuni.dev requested: Replace the fixed three bubble texts with nine relevant keywords per project, choose labels randomly and make the WoW add-on type obvious. Babuni.dev also corrected missing emphasis on the decision to develop actual projects openly in their own Decisions and Development journals.
AI interpretation/proposal: Keep three physical bubbles, sample three distinct labels per exploration and shuffle their positions. For the 24 identified add-ons, reserve one sampled position for “World of Warcraft add-on” and sample two of the remaining eight. The other WoW-related projects (community, stories, relay, media automation and client mod) are not automatically labeled add-ons. Nine keywords are curated editorial hints, not release or feature-completion claims. Unknown-purpose add-ons retain conservative code/history keywords.
Alternatives and decisions: Nine simultaneous bubbles were not requested. Merely making the add-on cue eligible for random selection could hide it entirely, so it is guaranteed once per add-on reveal. User-approved staggered reveal timing and motion are preserved. New random labels are chosen only at exploration start, not during animation frames or unrelated shifts; overlapping focus/pointer entry keeps the existing sequence.
Implemented: project-topics.ts, the grid reveal entry point and deterministic sampling tests. The actual project repositories received author-attributed Decisions/DEVLOG updates (Morkahja 53002fa7, MorkahjaWorld 8b8ba20, Babuni Admin 551f06c; Ethera bf83a91 remains private and is not imported). Anonymous metadata, branch and raw-document checks verified the three new public sources before replacing only their snapshots. Other imported projects were not refreshed. No repository visibility, license or deployment authorization was changed by the AI. Public visibility is not a finding that all media permissions or production risks are resolved.
Tested: Content validation, all 37 Node test files and production build passed; 430 canonical public URLs/internal links verified. The initial sampling test used closely spaced random seeds and did not exercise every label; a deterministic mixed seed fixed test coverage without changing the sampler. An early content check ran before the asynchronous imports finished and correctly rejected mismatched snapshots; the completed import passed validation. Browser observations, screenshot archive and local restart are recorded with the final handoff. No new physical phone acceptance is claimed.
Browser outcome: The updated preview displayed the mandatory add-on cue and sampled labels. Focusing another tile and returning to SocialForever changed the keywords. Labels remained visible during autonomous shifts. The JPEG browser capture was converted to WebP and added to the Visual documentation gallery. The first temporary server start lacked permission to bind; a permitted background start succeeded. A localhost/IPv6 connection attempt failed; the explicit 127.0.0.1 preview worked. No timing or position changes were introduced to resolve those environment issues.
2026-10-30 — A different toy box on every visit
Creator direction. Babuni requested a changing assortment: BABUNI.DEV should remain the initial tile while all others be randomized on every page load. Updated projects should no longer receive positional priority. Instead, a small gold "Recently updated" label on the upper-right of the tile and an extra gold ring around its portal should distinguish them.
AI design and implementation. The AI used a per-load Fisher–Yates shuffle so the assortment changes at reload without changing project identity mid-shift. Existing validated public-repository activity dates now drive the markers rather than placement. As provisional AI-selected defaults, only the five newest projects with verified commits in the previous fourteen days receive gold treatment. The exact time window and cap were not separately approved by the creator. The code changes are in src/lib/grid-projects.ts, src/lib/project-activity.ts, src/scripts/grid.ts, src/pages/index.astro, the activity preparation script and test file. The tile's starting anchor is not a permanent world center.
Verification. Changes were prepared from live GitHub source and checked for targeted wiring. Build, automated execution and live visual review are not yet verified.
2026-10-30 — Secure Hetzner access and Ubuntu maintenance (joint session)
Creator direction. Babuni wanted to administer an existing Hetzner VPS from their Nobara Linux desktop, make future AI-assisted access possible, and check for operating-system updates without disrupting existing hosted work. Babuni performed the commands and protected their own passwords and SSH passphrase.
AI contribution and troubleshooting. The assistant supplied SSH commands and fingerprint-verification guidance. Several attempts failed because the Hetzner browser console translated pasted punctuation through a mismatched keyboard layout; Babuni traced this to the console mapping and switched to Swedish. After SSH rejected root passwords, inspection showed permitrootlogin prohibit-password. The assistant recommended a separate sudo-capable account rather than weakening root authentication, then guided passphrase-protected SSH key installation.
Implementation and verification. Babuni created the administrator account, generated an ED25519 key locally, installed only its public half on the VPS and successfully connected using the private key; sudo whoami returned root. On Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, apt upgrade completed 55 package upgrades and four installations, with no removals and two packages deferred by phased updates. The new 7.0.0-42 kernel was installed, but not yet activated. Nginx, PostgreSQL and SSH were reported active; the existing Node.js API appeared online under PM2. A saved PM2 process list existed, but no system-level PM2 startup unit was initially found. Later in the same workflow, Babuni ran PM2's generated startup systemd command for the morkahja account, and systemd created and enabled pm2-morkahja.service. Babuni then ran sudo -iu morkahja pm2 save, which reported successfully saving /home/morkahja/.pm2/dump.pm2. Subsequent checks returned enabled for pm2-morkahja.service, enabled and active for ssh.socket, and enabled for postgresql.service. PM2 announced an optional newer release (7.1.1), not an installation failure.
Reboot verification (later in the session). Babuni ran the server reboot command, reconnected successfully from Nobara using the passphrase-protected SSH key, and saw the Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS welcome banner with the running kernel 7.0.0-42-generic. The banner reported zero immediately applicable updates, 9% memory usage and 23.1% disk usage. This verified operating-system reboot and SSH access. Post-reboot checks: Babuni ran sudo systemctl is-active nginx postgresql@18-main ssh.socket pm2-morkahja; all four returned active. Babuni then ran sudo -iu morkahja pm2 list, which showed morkahja-api online with zero recorded restarts and approximately 57.6 MB memory usage. This confirms PM2 restored the managed process and the checked services started after reboot; it does not verify a successful public HTTP/API request.
Still open. Confirm a recent Hetzner backup or snapshot and test live website/API functionality after reboot. Automatic service recovery is verified by the creator's terminal output. The babuni.dev site was not deployed in this session. No AI agent directly accessed the server, and no private key, passphrase or credential was committed to the repository.
2026-10-30 — One music project across platforms
Creator direction. Babuni supplied https://soundcloud.com/babunimusik and requested that SoundCloud join the existing babuni.musik project rather than appear as a separate music project.
AI implementation. Replaced the About link, added SoundCloud to the babuni.musik resource module, updated its summary and topic hints, and retired the separate Elixior tile and current module/catalog mapping. Existing internal ID mighty-morkah remains stable; historic descriptions and artifacts were not rewritten as if the former names had never existed.
Verification. GitHub source updates succeeded. No build or browser test was performed; historic individual video embed availability remains unverified.
2026-10-30 — Music channel renamed to babuni.musik
Creator direction: Replace the public Mighty Morkah identity and YouTube destination with babuni.musik at https://www.youtube.com/@babunimusik.
Implementation: AI edited src/content/about.md, src/lib/demo-projects.ts, and src/content/project-modules.json to update public labels and destinations. The existing mighty-morkah internal identifier and portal artwork remain unchanged to preserve references; historical records remain distinguishable from current names.
Verification: GitHub accepted the source changes. Build and browser verification were not performed.
2026-10-30 — Making the About portrait actually appear
Creator correction. After uploading an illustrated portrait to public/, Babuni clarified that the image should be visibly embedded within the About reader, not merely linked.
Technical finding and AI implementation. The existing client Markdown document renderer intentionally turned all Markdown image tokens into clickable text links. This meant that the valid portrait reference in src/content/about.md did not display. The assistant introduced a narrow exception in src/scripts/document-reader.ts for the known local /babuni-about-portrait.webp resource, retaining the existing policy for all other images. Responsive dimensions and centered layout were added in src/pages/index.astro.
Verification. GitHub confirmed source commits aecae2a and 7ebc51f. No build, live browser test or deployment verification was performed.
2026-10-30 — Plain language and a less crowded Elsewhere section
Creator direction. Babuni rejected inflated biography language and unnecessary comparisons, and clarified that the Babuni/Babuni Dev identity explanation had been background direction for the assistant rather than text intended for publication. The public website description should be brief and straightforward. The creator also requested space and useful context for each Elsewhere link and a direct link to the source Markdown.
AI implementation. Simplified src/content/about.md and retitled the short website paragraph “About babuni.dev”. Replaced the compact list of links with ten individually separated Markdown links and one short explanation each. The earlier confirmed destinations were retained. GitHub source commit: 9923cc7.
Verification. GitHub accepted the update. No build or visual inspection was performed, so rendered spacing remains unverified.
2026-10-30 — Correcting voice, authorship and project scale
Creator correction. The creator objected to the third-person biography: the preference was to avoid starting sentences with “I” or “My”, not to exclude first-person speech. They also clarified that they do not personally write code; satisfaction comes from imagining, designing, creating and directing AI-assisted implementation. The prominence of numerous small World of Warcraft addons should not overshadow the larger Morkahja online game, which people can play, or Ethera, an ambitious but very early project.
AI response and implementation. Rewrote src/content/about.md in first person while retaining varied sentence openings, accurately describing the creator's role in directing AI programming. Reordered the project overview to foreground Morkahja and Ethera with distinct maturity levels. Retained the broader personal biography and all existing Elsewhere links. GitHub commit 9185a8b confirms the source edit; no build or browser verification was run.
2026-10-30 — The person beyond the portfolio
Creator direction. Babuni requested a fuller public biography identifying the person behind the online name as Alex, and objected to an About profile that reduced their life to being an artist and maker. Baking, working and gardening were specifically raised as important parts of the wider portrait. A stylistic rule was also established: no sentences beginning with “I” or “My”.
AI contribution. The assistant retrieved relevant earlier discussion about working life, life between Germany and Sweden, food service, gardening and tree/hedge maintenance, music, gaming and worldbuilding. It drafted a restrained third-person biography, avoiding precise birthplace, birth year and personal contact details while reflecting those lived experiences. The wider identity distinction between Babuni and babuni.dev was retained.
Implementation and verification. Updated src/content/about.md on the GitHub main branch (commit 5ec166a), retaining all Elsewhere links. The edit was acknowledged by the GitHub connector. No local build or browser check was performed. Final approval of the personal phrasing has not been recorded.
2026-10-30 — Naming the person behind the shifting grid
Creator direction. The creator clarified that Babuni names the person and overarching online identity, while babuni.dev is the development portfolio and one branch of the wider creative practice. Gaming, music and worldbuilding belong under that same identity. The About introduction needed more of the human maker and less explanation of the interface, without disclosing private details. The creator requested additional external profiles, correction of the double-g Babuni Gaming channel URL, more readable question-mark guidance, and removal of the Return to center concept because the shifting endless grid has no permanent center.
AI contribution and editorial choice. The assistant rewrote the About introduction in the first person based on the creator's described interests and existing project catalogue. It sourced the Gaming, Mighty Morkah, Elixior and Anskar Instagram destinations from repository records and project documentation. The Arcanite Brothers public documentation was linked as such; no independent website URL or Etsy shop URL was invented. Help instructions were organized into exploration, project opening, finding one's way and keyboard controls.
Implementation. Edited src/content/about.md, src/pages/index.astro, and src/scripts/grid.ts directly through GitHub. Removed the help reset button and its corresponding event listener while retaining internal viewport-centering calculations needed for selection and layout. These are GitHub commits, not a claim of a successfully deployed build.
Verification and open details. The connector confirmed each content commit. No build or automated test was run at the creator's request. Exact public URLs for the Anskar Etsy shop and external Arcanite Brothers game website remain unverified. Final editorial approval of the new first-person profile is not yet recorded.
2026-10-30 — Keep readable pages secondary
Babuni.dev feedback: the separate readable pages feel unattractive and do not need a Browse project pages link in the grid menu; asks how sources update and why the preview connection fails. AI execution: remove only that menu link, keeping the approved grid and blooms as the ordinary experience. Readable URLs, sitemap and useful no-JavaScript fallback remain publicly available to people and crawlers alike; they are not bot-only or private pages. No page redesign is claimed. Both readable pages and blooms use the same curated data and revision-pinned public snapshots, regenerated during content preparation/build; upstream document changes require a deliberate content sync, whereas commit-date refresh is separate. Connection diagnosis: 4326 was the temporary production preview deliberately stopped after verification; the regular local development server is on 4321. Verification: direct local HTTP checks, content validation, static build and canonical/internal-link checks run before publication; no browser screenshot taken for this menu-only removal. No DNS/VPS change or source snapshot refresh.
2026-10-30 — Golden shift status in the header
Babuni.dev requested: emphasize Rows/Columns are shifting and Waiting for shift to finish with a warm golden glow like the selected waiting tile, and clarify that opening waits for the shift. AI execution: centralize header presentation, add a static gold text glow for those two status families, and append the wait explanation to autonomous-shift messages. All direct selection waiting/centering updates use the same presenter so the glow clears for ordinary exploration, reading and centering. Existing tile feedback, 4.4-second shift tempo and opening sequence are unchanged; no extra animation is introduced, including for reduced motion. Verification: targeted status tests, full regression suite, content validation, static build and public-link checks run before publication with cached activity dates. No browser screenshot taken in this pass; visual acceptance remains with Babuni.dev.
Integration: online About and babuni.musik/SoundCloud consolidation commits arrived during publication. AI rebased without conflicts and preserved them. The imported music merge retired Elixior but left the catalog constant, count expectations and source report stale; update those to 41 projects/41 active artworks/five needs-repository records. Adjust the 45-cell chronology fixture to permit the already-approved real-project repetition once 41 projects plus three unique fillers are exhausted. No visual/motion policy changes. Initial merged tests failed on these stale expectations; rerun follows corrections.
Merged verification: all 37 test files, content validation, static build and all 430 public-URL checks passed after reconciling the approved online music consolidation.

2026-10-30 — Launch-readiness and server-access audit
Babuni.dev asked: check remaining launch gaps and explain direct agent/server access versus repeated manual server pulls/builds. AI audit: current source is clean; 37 test files, content validation, static production build and all 430 public URL/link checks passed. Current initial JS is about 120 KiB raw / 38 KiB gzip. Production dependency registry audit reported zero known advisories, not a complete security guarantee. No new browser/device or live VPS/load measurement performed. Result: code is ready for deployment preparation; SSH access, server-specific Nginx validation, DNS, HTTPS/renewal and live smoke/header/loading checks remain. Current CI tests/builds but does not deploy. AI recommendation: dedicated SSH deployment account and key, versioned static release upload and rollback, followed optionally by a manually triggered GitHub deployment workflow. These access/automation proposals are not configured or authorized as completed work. Existing Arcanite Brothers remains untouched. The local .ssh directory has no private key; no SSH session, key creation, new permissions or server change attempted. Update deploy/README.md with these distinctions and the current 41-project catalog count. Content curation and future visibility UI are not launch blockers for the already approved public catalog.
2026-10-29 — RoarGuild Add-on supplied artwork
Babuni.dev requested: RoarGuildAddon.webp for the addon portal. AI execution: copied the supplied WebP unchanged from the local testing checkout and mapped it to stable ID roarguild. Community roar-guild-and-community retains ROARGuild.webp; this supersedes the earlier temporary no-logo state for the addon. No image editing, geometry or timing changes. Verification: WebP signature checked; targeted artwork tests and production build run before publication. Human visual acceptance remains open.
2026-10-29 — MeleeStartAttack supplied artwork
Babuni.dev requested: MeleeStartAttack.webp for the project portal. AI execution: copied the supplied WebP from the local testing checkout unchanged and mapped it to stable ID meleestartattack. No image editing, geometry or timing changes. Verification: WebP signature checked; targeted artwork tests and production build run before publication. Human visual acceptance remains open.
2026-10-29 — Renamed admin implementation and public documentation
Babuni.dev requested: update the website after renaming the Arcanitebrothers implementation repository to Babuni Admin. AI verification: connected GitHub metadata identifies the supplied renamed implementation as private; the separate arcanitebrothers-docs edition remains public on main. Only metadata was read, not private implementation files.
Decision/execution: honor the existing public-only publishing direction without asking the human to repeat it. Display Babuni Admin, retaining stable ID arcanitebrothers, category and supplied artwork. Replace the generic repository resource with an explicit Public documentation resource explaining the earlier name. Keep the existing public edition connection and historical snapshots unchanged; do not substitute the private implementation as a website content source or expose its URL. No public repository rename or source-document rewrite was performed. The public edition can be renamed/refreshed later as a separate source update.
Verification: catalog/search and public-source privacy regressions plus production build run before publication; browser checks and final results recorded below. No runtime/admin functionality testing is implied.
Final results: direct Node execution passed 163 tests across 30 files; the standard runner passed all files and the production build passed (existing large-chunk warning retained). Browser search found Babuni Admin, opened eight previews and confirmed the public documentation URL plus renamed tile/activity labels. One screenshot was archived as WebP in the gallery and visual manifest. Existing source snapshot file remained unchanged.
2026-10-29 — Public Admin docs rename completed
Babuni.dev requested: follow the public documentation repository rename too and ensure the website is consistent. AI verification: authenticated metadata and anonymous content-fetch validation confirm babunidev/babuni.admin-docs is public on main. Retrieved only the ten allowlisted Markdown documents at da8b818e0be9fc14ba8176da25ab99ab774223be. Their bodies and revision match the previous snapshot; repository identity, not document text, changed. No private files accessed.
Execution: update the active repository mapping and Public documentation resource label/URL, replace the old snapshot key with the new canonical identity and regenerate the source report/static document assets. Stable ID arcanitebrothers, Babuni Admin display name and artwork remain unchanged. Historical source names and dated captures remain evidence rather than silently rewritten text. Verification: repository/source-link tests and full test runner/build run before publication; public-only safeguards preserved.
Test refinement: the previous private-source regression used a prefix check that also matched the newly named public babuni.admin-docs repository. It initially failed for that reason. The guard now compares the exact repository path segment, still excluding the private implementation and additionally asserting canonical public document links plus removal of the old snapshot key.
Final verification: all 30 test files passed under the standard runner, all 12 repository-content tests passed directly and the production build passed with the existing large-chunk warning. The generated index contains only the new Admin docs repository identity, all ten reader asset files exist, and a comparison confirmed all unrelated snapshots and Admin Markdown bodies are unchanged. This pass used source/asset checks rather than a new browser capture.
2026-10-29 — BuxbrewDing supplied artwork
Babuni.dev requested: BuxbrewDing.webp for the project portal. AI execution: copied the supplied WebP from the local testing checkout unchanged and mapped it to stable ID buxbrewding. No image editing, geometry or timing changes. Verification: WebP signature checked; targeted artwork tests and production build run before publication. Human visual acceptance remains open.
2026-10-29 — Amazin supplied artwork
Babuni.dev requested: Amazin.webp for the project portal. AI execution: copied the supplied WebP from the local testing checkout unchanged and mapped it to stable ID amazin. No image editing, geometry or timing changes. Verification: WebP signature checked; targeted artwork tests and production build run before publication. Human visual acceptance remains open.
2026-10-29 — Mighty Morkah supplied artwork
Babuni.dev requested: MightyMorkah.webp for the project portal. AI execution: copied the supplied WebP from the local testing checkout unchanged and mapped it to stable ID mighty-morkah. No image editing, geometry or timing changes. Verification: WebP signature checked; targeted artwork tests and production build run before publication. Human visual acceptance remains open.
2026-10-29 — Elixior supplied artwork
Babuni.dev requested: Elexior.webp for the music project portal. AI interpretation/execution: map the supplied filename to existing stable ID elixior; retain the existing Elixior display name and SoundCloud connection. Copied the WebP from the local testing checkout unchanged. No image editing, geometry or timing changes. Verification: WebP signature checked; targeted artwork tests and production build run before publication. Human visual acceptance remains open.
2026-10-29 — Chronological initial spiral
Babuni.dev requested: initial spiral should use each project's latest commit date and re-sort with every build; asked whether it already did. AI finding: it did not: catalog order was manually maintained, with BABUNI.DEV first and later additions appended. Builds prepared document snapshots offline and did not collect commit dates.
Clarification/decision: AI asked whether private-code projects should use private implementation dates or their public documentation dates. Babuni.dev explicitly chose public documentation dates. All 35 connected public sources participate, including BABUNI.DEV; ten projects without a connected source remain undated, preserving their catalog order after dated projects. Use the configured source branch (main/master), latest branch-head commit's committer date, newest first. Ties retain catalog order; no fabricated dates from snapshot import time, checkedAt, build time or local artwork edits.
AI implementation: separate activity ordering from the base catalog and menu groups; collect only repository/branch/SHA/committedAt/checkedAt metadata. Anonymous requests use the lean public commits endpoint. An optional CI token first verifies public visibility before any commit read; no private implementation files, dates or author details are published. The static grid bundle gets one fixed ordering; dragging/shifting never re-sorts an active grid. Semantic IDs remain the identity authority, including BABUNI.DEV styling when it no longer ranks first.
Build/cache choice: prebuild refreshes activity, then validates/prepares content. Successful dates replace matching last-good dates; failed/offline/rate-limited sources retain verified dates or remain undated, with explicit per-source warnings. Regular refreshes write ignored generated metadata, avoiding dirty local checkouts and pull conflicts. A committed initial baseline supports fresh/offline clones; npm run activity:sync -- --save-baseline deliberately updates it for review/commit. Dev/test startup stays offline, selecting the newest matching generated/baseline cache. Existing Markdown snapshot refresh remains separate; importing a newer date does not claim newer source text was fetched.
Verification plan: pure sorting, ties, unknown sources, branch mismatch, public docs vs private implementation, minimal commit metadata, committer vs author time, token visibility guard, failure fallback, removed sources/shared repositories, cached-file workflow and initial spiral integration. Live refresh/build/browser outcomes recorded below before publication.
Live verification/outcome: npm run build successfully refreshed 35/35 connected public branch-head dates and completed the production build, retaining the existing large-JavaScript warning. Seeded the reviewed fallback from those same verified records. Current order begins BABUNI.DEV, Ethera, Morkahja, Morkahja Worldbuilding and Babuni Admin; the four public documentation editions share a timestamp and retain catalog order. All 174 tests passed in direct Node execution across 31 files, including 11 activity tests. Standard runner also passed all 31 files. Failure/offline/rate-limit behavior was exercised with controlled fixtures, not by claiming a real outage occurred.
Browser at 1920×1080 confirmed 45 initial identities and an exact first-nine cell match to generated chronological order. Menu selection still opened Babuni Admin and its correct eight-preview bloom; existing shifts continued normally. Two available screenshots were archived in WebP/gallery/manifest. An initial browser DOM read failed because its sandbox lacked a parseFloat helper; a fresh read after reload succeeded. No application error was involved. Final content/static build reused the freshly verified cache rather than issuing an unnecessary second batch of GitHub requests. No private project commits were read, and no source Markdown snapshots were refreshed. Physical-device/extended-session acceptance and API failure-rate monitoring remain open.
Publication adjustment: GitHub rejected the first push because an optional workflow edit adding the CI token environment required OAuth workflow scope. The push was not accepted. AI removed that optional workflow change rather than expanding account permissions. The existing CI retains anonymous public refresh plus verified-cache fallback; optional tokens remain supported when explicitly provided by a build environment. Core chronology, public-only checks and cache behavior are unchanged.
2026-10-29 — Human curation and GatherMap artwork
Babuni.dev requested: remove Fantasy RPG Assets because it is not a project; additionally supplied GatherMap.webp for the existing GatherMap tile. AI execution: remove stable ID fantasy-rpg-assets from active catalog/topics/menu/repository status, keeping historical documentation intact. No repository was associated or deleted. Copy the supplied GatherMap WebP byte-for-byte and assign it to gathermap. Other projects, chronology rules, geometry and timing are unchanged.
Verification: catalog/group/topic/source and chronological-placement coverage updated for 44 real projects, including a neutral vacancy in the 45-cell fixture; artwork inventory updated to 33. Full tests/build run before publication. No browser screenshot was taken in this pass; visual acceptance remains for Babuni.dev.
Final results: all 31 test files passed; six artwork tests and eleven activity tests also passed directly. Production build passed with the existing large-chunk warning. Live activity refresh succeeded for 25/35 repositories; ten returned HTTP 403 and retained verified cached dates as designed. Generated chronological IDs contain exactly 44 projects and exclude Fantasy RPG Assets. No source-document snapshots were changed.
2026-10-29 — Ethera and Local AI labels
Babuni.dev requested: shorten Ethera: The Stonewrought to Ethera and Local AI Workstation to Local AI. AI execution: change the two catalog display names, preserving stable IDs ethera-the-stonewrought and local-ai-workstation, public repository links, artwork and chronology. Regenerate the source report. Earlier names in historical source documents/screenshots remain unchanged. Verification: catalog/navigation/source tests and content/static build run before publication, reusing the last verified activity cache for this display-only change. No timing or positioning changes.
2026-10-29 — Remove Fantasy Architecture
Babuni.dev requested: remove Fantasy Architecture because it is not a project. AI interpretation/execution: remove active catalog, menu grouping, topics and unresolved source mapping; update counts and regression coverage, preserving historical records. Verification: full tests, content validation and static production build are run before publication using verified cached activity dates; no browser screenshot or fresh source synchronization in this pass.
Results: initial test run caught the catalog count constant still at 44; AI corrected it to 43. Rerun passed all 31 test files, content validation and static production build.
2026-10-29 — Grimnir portal artwork
Babuni.dev requested: use the supplied Grimnir.webp for Grimnir. AI execution: map the existing stable project ID to /portal-content/Grimnir.webp, preserving the supplied WebP bytes and existing round portal mask. This replaces its provisional colored portal; 34 active projects now have supplied artwork. No project identity, source, timing or placement changes. Verification: artwork regression tests, content validation and static production build run before publication using cached activity dates; no browser capture in this pass. Original artwork is retained without re-encoding.
2026-10-29 — ROARSounds portal artwork
Babuni.dev requested: use the supplied ROARsounds.webp for ROARSounds. AI execution: assign it to the existing roarsounds identity, replacing its provisional colored portal. Preserve supplied WebP bytes and the round mask; 35 active projects now have supplied artwork. No timing, positioning, source or identity changes. Verification: artwork regression tests, content validation and static production build run before publication using cached activity dates. No browser screenshot taken.
2026-10-29 — Worldbuilding and Roar Guild artwork
Babuni.dev supplied: MorkahjaWorldbuilding.webp and ROAR.webp. AI interpretation/execution: assign the first to Morkahja Worldbuilding and replace Roar Guild’s ROARGuild.webp mapping with ROAR.webp. Preserve the former file as historical artwork and keep RoarGuild Add-on’s separate image. Both new WebPs are copied unchanged; 36 active projects now have supplied artwork. No identity, source, timing or positioning changes. Verification: artwork regression tests, content validation and static production build run before publication using cached activity dates; no browser capture in this pass.
2026-10-29 — Correct ROAR artwork assignment
Babuni.dev corrected: ROAR.webp belongs to ROAR, not Roar Guild, which already had artwork. AI error and correction: the previous assignment inferred the wrong project; assign ROAR.webp to stable ID roar and restore ROARGuild.webp to roar-guild-and-community. RoarGuild Add-on retains its separate artwork. Earlier entry records the superseded mistake. There are now 37 active artwork assignments. No image bytes or interaction behavior changed. Verification: distinct artwork regression assertions, content validation and static production build run before publication with cached activity dates; no browser screenshot taken.
2026-10-29 — ROARRunlimited artwork
Babuni.dev supplied: RoarUnlimited.webp. AI execution: assign the unchanged WebP to the existing ROARRunlimited project (roarrunlimited), replacing its provisional colored portal and retaining the round mask. There are now 38 active artwork assignments. Other ROAR-family mappings, labels, timing and placement remain unchanged. Verification: artwork regression tests, content validation and static production build run before publication using cached activity dates; no browser capture taken.
2026-10-29 — ROARemoteTrigger artwork
Babuni.dev supplied: ROARRemoteTrigger.webp. AI execution: map the unchanged supplied WebP to the existing roaremotetrigger project, replacing its provisional colored portal with the existing round mask. There are now 39 active artwork assignments. Existing labels, other ROAR-family artwork, source mappings, timing and placement are preserved. Verification: artwork regression tests, content validation and static production build run before publication using cached activity dates; no browser screenshot taken.
2026-10-29 — Remove Analubia
Babuni.dev decided: remove Analubia to focus this portfolio on their own current projects; they described it as a past corporate collaboration and expressed uncertainty about present ownership. This is the human’s scope decision, not an independently verified ownership claim. AI execution: remove its active catalog, menu, topics and unresolved source mapping; preserve historical records and external projects. There are now 42 projects, 35 connected public sources and six needing repositories. No motion or layout changes. Verification: full tests, content validation and static production build run before publication using cached activity dates; no browser capture or source refresh.
2026-10-29 — LootFeed artwork
Babuni.dev supplied: LootFeed.webp. AI execution: assign the unchanged supplied WebP to stable project ID lootfeed, replacing its provisional colored portal within the existing round mask. There are now 40 active artwork assignments. No project labels, source connections, timing or placement changed. Verification: artwork regression tests, content validation and static production build run before publication using cached activity dates; no browser capture taken.
2026-10-29 — Rocket Game 42 artwork
Babuni.dev supplied: Rocketgame42.webp. AI execution: assign the unchanged supplied WebP to stable project ID rocket-game-42, replacing its provisional colored portal within the existing round mask. There are now 41 active artwork assignments. Project identity, source, timing and placement are unchanged. Verification: artwork regression tests, content validation and static production build run before publication using cached activity dates; no browser capture taken.
2026-10-29 — GroupBuffToggle artwork
Babuni.dev supplied: GroupBuff.webp. AI execution: assign the unchanged supplied WebP to the existing GroupBuffToggle project (groupbufftoggle), replacing its provisional colored portal within the existing round mask. All 42 current projects now have supplied portal artwork. Project names, source mappings, timing and placement are unchanged. Verification: artwork regression tests, content validation and static production build run before publication using cached activity dates; no browser capture taken.
2026-10-29 — 512-pixel portal publishing assets
Babuni.dev requested: make all portal images smaller, suggesting 512 × 512. AI implementation: resize all 42 active portal WebPs to 512 × 512 with Lanczos resampling and WebP quality 85, preserving composition and transparency; update renderer intrinsic dimensions. This supersedes earlier byte-preservation rules for these published versions. Originals remain in Git history and in the local non-public image-originals/portal-artwork-before-512-2026-10-29/ archive with a SHA-256 manifest. No artwork redesign, crop, portal size or animation changes. Alternatives: 384-pixel trial was smaller, but 512 follows the human’s chosen resolution and retains more detail. Total active portal bytes: 20,404,098 → 2,843,518 (86.1% reduction); largest 113,292 bytes. Gallery/verification images and favicon are outside this portal-only change. Import tooling still copies supplied files unchanged; intentional publishing optimization is separate. Verification: decoded all 42 WebPs and confirmed exact 512 × 512 dimensions; visually inspected a temporary contact sheet (not a browser capture); added a 150 KiB per-portal regression budget. Full tests, content validation and static production build run before publication with cached activity dates. No browser performance measurement claimed.
2026-10-29 — First Babuni Gaming video embed
Babuni.dev supplied: YouTube video 9fnC1ZI1iSY, described as the first published stream test/showcase (not the first recording), with quiet microphone audio. AI execution: add a fourth Babuni Gaming module, Videos, using the existing click-to-load youtube-nocookie.com embed renderer and a descriptive label, not an invented official title. Other videos can join this collection later. Playback is served by YouTube; no recording is copied into the site and existing BABUNI.DEV local clips remain unchanged. Existing renderer requires Load video before creating the external player. Verification: content regression coverage, full tests, content validation and static production build run before publication with cached activity dates. YouTube page retrieval failed; official title, playback and embedding permission are not verified and require a live playback check. No browser screenshot taken.
Validation correction: initial checks rejected intro/body fields on a video module. AI used the existing supported preview and credit fields instead, preserving the module schema.
2026-10-29 — Second Babuni Gaming video
Babuni.dev supplied: YouTube video B2pMsZPQfCc as the second published video, with microphone audio still very quiet but acceptable to publish. AI execution: append it after the first recording in the existing Videos collection; update collection context to describe both videos. Labels are descriptive, not verified official titles. Existing click-to-load YouTube embeds handle playback; no local video copy or timing/layout changes. Verification: ordered collection regression assertions, content validation and static production build run before publication using cached activity dates. YouTube playback and embedding permission remain unverified; no browser capture taken.
2026-10-29 — Visible embedded video previews
Babuni.dev requested: visible large video previews in modules, the big bloom and reader instead of empty Load video buttons, with the ability to play directly. AI implementation: replace the extra load button with a lazy embedded player using the existing approved-host validation, privacy-enhanced YouTube URL and referrer policy. Put the first player above preview text in small/big modules and remove the big-card iframe height cap; the reader shows all collection players at full content width and 16:9. Native hosted clips retain their existing behavior. Trade-off: embedded previews may contact the video provider when visible, before playback; this supersedes the prior click-before-player approach. AI keeps playback user initiated to avoid simultaneous audio from multiple modules; no autoplay loop is introduced. Playback controls work inside the embed without opening another bloom. Verification: all 32 test files, content validation and static production build passed, including lazy iframe creation and rejection of unsafe hosts. No live browser playback or YouTube availability verified, and no browser screenshot taken.
2026-10-29 — Mighty Morkah video collection
Babuni.dev requested: embed the Mighty Morkah channel’s videos using the same visible player previews. AI execution: add one Videos module with all ten video titles and watch IDs visible on the channel’s Videos page, in its displayed latest-first order. Preserve historical wording and WIP labels. Existing renderer shows the first player in small/big bloom and all ten lazy player embeds in the reader; playback remains user initiated. YouTube serves the media, with no copied video files. Existing overview and profile links remain. Verification: direct browser inspection of https://www.youtube.com/@MightyMorkah/videos found ten video entries (channel currently displays Morkah); search/page-fetch tools failed before browser fallback succeeded. No individual playback or embedding permission verified. Collection tests, full regression suite, content validation and static build run before publication with cached activity dates. No browser screenshot taken.
2026-10-29 — Matching video frames
Babuni.dev requested: frame video embeds like their surrounding bloom modules. AI execution: wrap supported players in a shared video-frame element with the module’s 2-pixel muted-gold border, 5-pixel dark inner band and shadow. The frame is inside the available content width, with no overlay intercepting player controls; applies to embedded and native videos in small bloom, big bloom and reader. Player aspect ratio and playback behavior remain unchanged. No source or media changes. Verification: all 32 test files, content validation and static build passed. Initial DOM test caught use of a property missing from its lightweight DOM fixture; AI used the equivalent children collection and reran successfully. No browser screenshot or visual browser acceptance performed in this pass.
2026-10-29 — Selected module quarter overlay
Babuni.dev corrected: selected big-bloom content should continue behind the portal tile, with only the bottom-left quarter covered and the right side visible. AI diagnosis/execution: remove the selected-card-only half-height cap on .bloom-preview-content; use the same full-height scrollable content region as other big cards. The actual anchor tile remains one grid cell over the lower-left quarter of the existing 2 × 2 module. No tile or module repositioning, resizing, timing or media changes. Verification: full regression suite, content validation and static build run before publication. Existing geometry tests cover the quarter anchor and vacancies; no live browser visual acceptance or screenshot taken in this pass.
2026-10-29 — Keep incoming identities through shift commit
Babuni.dev reported: rare identity changes immediately after the first or second startup shift, especially the last incoming tile, suspected after project removals. AI investigation: 400 ordinary simulated startup rounds preserved identities. Adding intermediate viewport syncs in which an incoming source briefly entered and left the visible set reproduced a first-round swap with 42 projects and three fillers (seed 0, expected index 1 became 40). This confirms a failure path, not a browser reproduction of the human’s exact incident. AI implementation: keep staged entrance sources retained and protected through intermediate syncs; explicitly release reservations only after resident settlement, history commit and final placement sync. Previously the first sync seeing an entrance released it, allowing later syncs to deduplicate/reassign it before completion. No catalog, duplicate policy, shift tempo, geometry or DOM transfer behavior changed. Alternatives: avoid padding the catalog or suppressing all deduplication; fix reservation lifetime at the shift boundary. Verification: new integrated placement/shift/resident test covers 400 startup rounds with intermediate syncs and all landed identities. The failing simulation passes after the fix; all 33 test files, content validation and static build passed. No sustained browser reproduction or screenshot captured; human startup acceptance remains open.
2026-10-29 — Body-first documentation and newest-first logs
Babuni.dev requested: move opening authorship, source, version, target, primary-file and verification facts to the end, and show newest changelog/development-journal entries first so modules lead with meaningful content. AI interpretation/implementation: add a deterministic Markdown presentation transform at document preparation, shared by repository modules and generated reader assets. Preserve original imported snapshots and upstream repositories; publish a reordered reading copy. Recognized leading labelled facts/lists/tables move intact into a final Document information section. Narrative text, safety notices inside the body, links and nested Markdown remain intact. Only log paths are date-sorted: complete sibling sections move with their subsections, dated entries sort newest first, same-day ties keep source order, undated sections keep their slots. ISO and English month dates are supported; omitted years are inferred only from an unambiguous sibling year. Unreleased entries sort first. No dates or chronology are invented for version-only or undated headings. Alternatives: avoid editing dozens of upstream repositories or deleting metadata; use one presentation layer for small previews, big intros and reader text. Verification: added metadata/preview, nested log/fence, month-date and ambiguous-year tests; all imported source documents pass a non-whitespace character preservation comparison. Existing exact-body tests now compare the presentation copy. Full regression suite, content validation and static build run before publication with cached activity dates; no source sync, browser capture or manual document-by-document editorial acceptance claimed. Limitations: unrecognized narrative-shaped facts and ambiguous dates retain their original position.
2026-10-29 — Larger reader and footer stripe
Babuni.dev requested: enlarge the reader to around 70% of available space and vertically from the header to a new thin footer, styled like the header at one-third its height. AI interpretation/execution: use 70vw reader width on desktop and full height between the persistent header and decorative footer. Preserve the existing edge-to-edge mobile reader and its bottom dismissal gap. Add an empty, noninteractive footer stripe with matching header background/border, height derived from one third of the current header. Move and restore both header and stripe with the modal so they remain visible at all four depths. Keep desktop outside-click margins, reader scrolling and opening/closing animations. Text retains its readable line-length limit. Verification: full regression suite, content validation and static production build run before publication using cached activity dates. No browser screenshot or visual acceptance performed in this pass.
2026-10-29 — Warmer and larger typography
Babuni.dev requested: larger project titles, with short names larger within the same width, slightly larger bloom text (especially small bloom), and a friendly warm palette like the repository links with readable matching backgrounds. AI implementation: length-based tile-title scale (short/medium/long) within the common 89% title width; increase small headings/body including the mobile override, make a smaller increase to big-bloom typography, and raise reader body text from 17 to 18px. Use warm cream/gold headings and body text on charcoal-brown bloom/reader backgrounds. Captions and secondary bloom text grow slightly. Artwork, tile/module dimensions, geometry and animation timing are unchanged; larger content continues to use existing internal scrolling. Alternatives: use three deterministic name-length scales rather than measuring text during grid animation; no new font dependency or per-frame layout work. Verification: full regression suite, content validation and static build run before publication using cached activity dates. No browser screenshot or visual/device acceptance performed in this pass.
2026-10-29 — Physical acceptance and release-readiness audit
Babuni.dev confirmed: thorough testing on two physical devices, responsive phone/laptop/wide-desktop coverage, satisfying keyboard and reduced-motion alternatives, topic interactions, fullscreen and many-hour sessions; accept milestones 1–4 and the neutral stone/portal design. Record this as human evidence, not new AI hardware verification. Content remains living WIP; owner project publishing toggles remain needed, and future performance review can follow later. AI execution: update current roadmap checkboxes and status, explicitly label older notes historical, keep optional MDX deferred, and document production/SEO/hosting findings in docs/RELEASE_READINESS-2026-10-29.md. Measured: production build passed; total artifact 15.20 MiB; one 699,389-byte JS chunk (199,545 gzip / 160,907 Brotli simulated), existing large-chunk warning. Initial HTML has no project headings/links; generated content is interactive and source docs load on demand. AI proposals: crawlable static project/document routes, search/share metadata, integrated publishing visibility, then separate VPS hostname/directory/HTTPS configuration and real delivery measurement. These are plans, not implemented features or deployment. No DNS, private content, VPS or existing website changes. Verification: static artifact inspection; full tests/content checks/build run before publication. No new live load-time/FPS/browser/device test claimed.
2026-10-29 — Prepare public discovery and production delivery
Babuni.dev authorized: publish every current catalog project and existing public-source content; implement readable pages, search/share information, sitemap, sensible crawler rules and real links, and investigate the bundle with production caching/compression prepared before weekend hosting. AI implementation: add static /projects/ directory, 42 stable project pages and populated module pages from the same current module/source pipeline (433 HTML URLs total); preserve source links, Markdown safety, authorship, WIP content and date presentation. Add www.babuni.dev canonical site identity, per-page titles/descriptions/Open Graph/social images, project CreativeWork data, sitemap and robots.txt. Real project-directory link is in Projects menu, with a no-JavaScript home fallback. No private repositories or unconnected account inventory imported.
Bundle change: generate 42 per-project JSON collections and fetch only a selected project, cached with deduplicated pending requests and retry after failure. Start fetching alongside the existing shift/centering procedure; a still-loading selected tile retains busy feedback and stale completions cannot reopen a closed/different selection. Keep the original motion, module content volume and source documents. Initial JS reduced from the audited 683 KiB / 195 KiB gzip to approximately 118 KiB / 37 KiB gzip; the 500 kB warning disappears without raising the warning limit. These are artifact/compression estimates, not internet transfer timings.
Alternatives and boundaries: use real, equally accessible readable pages rather than hidden keyword text or bot-only rendering; preserve the interactive grid as the main experience. All current projects are public by explicit human direction; a future publishing toggle remains optional work. Prepare a separate Nginx configuration and deployment guide with gzip, correct cache lifetimes and real 404s; do not change VPS/DNS/HTTPS before the agreed weekend or disturb arcanitebrothers.com. Actual HTTPS, gzip/cache headers, renewals, internet timings and search-account submissions remain open. No special AI file is needed for Google AI search; crawlable text and links are the foundation, without guaranteed indexing.
Verification: full tests/content checks/build plus sitemap/metadata/internal-link validation run before publication. Production browser preview confirmed LootFeed readable page, 42-project menu, normal shift-wait feedback, fetched eight-module small bloom, eleven-module big bloom and Overview reader with no browser errors. Two genuine browser screenshots archived as WebP in Visual documentation; physical acceptance remains attributed to Babuni.dev, not this browser check. Nginx configuration is prepared only: no local Nginx executable, live syntax test or hosting installation claimed.
Final verification results: all 36 test files passed; content validation and complete npm run build passed, including refreshed public activity dates for 35/35 connected sources and the postbuild check of all 433 canonical URLs and internal links. Final initial JS: 120,908 bytes raw / 38,313 gzip / 33,312 Brotli (locally compressed artifact sizes). No large-chunk warning. New project overview pages use an intro plus real links to full module documents to avoid duplicating the entire README at two URLs. Full output is 19.59 MiB including all generated readable pages, archives and media, not an initial-download measurement. Full build used current approved snapshots; it did not refresh repository document bodies.
2026-10-28 — Four separate public documentation editions
Babuni.dev decided: publish documentation only for the four private projects discussed, rather than exposing their implementations. AI interpretation: fresh Markdown-only editions for Ethera, Morkahja RPG, MorkahjaWorld and Morkahja Admin, using the ten-document portfolio contract; source-informed summaries rather than copying raw private history. Source findings: the current original README/CONCEPT distinguish MorkahjaWorld as reserved and arcanitebrothers as the Morkahja Admin tool. Execution: prepared four independent local documentation repositories outside this website checkout, with human/AI attribution and no implementation history. Verification: 40 intended Markdown files, valid internal links, no URLs/local user paths/recognized credential signatures in their text, publishing script syntax checked. No runtime behavior tested or changed. Blocker: automatic review rejected public creation/push for the first edition, so none was published and website mappings remain private-review. See PUBLIC_DOCUMENTATION_PLAN.md for exact scope, proposed destinations, limitations and integration steps.
2026-10-28 — Human publishes four editions; public-only website integration
Babuni.dev execution: supplied terminal output showing all four documentation-only repositories created and their prepared main commits pushed publicly. AI verification: existing anonymous importer verified public metadata, resolved main commits and fetched ten allowlisted Markdown files per edition. Existing snapshots were preserved byte-for-byte at the object level; no broad refresh ran. Authenticated metadata checks confirmed all four original implementation repositories still private. Implementation: changed only the four private-review mappings to their public editions, added forty documents, updated connection totals/report and regression coverage. The Arcanitebrothers tile retains its existing identity; unconfirmed family tiles were not silently connected. Tests/correction: initial tests failed because a report assertion matched the Ethera prefix in Ethera-docs and the Markdown parser count still expected 303 rather than 343 imported documents. Tests now distinguish complete private repository names from public documentation names and cover all new documents. Full test command passes 29 file entries; the direct repository-content suite passes 10 tests. Production build passed. Open: site commit publication/restart and physical-device review remain separate from repository creation and importer verification; final browser observations follow.
Browser result: Ethera opened eight small-bloom modules, eleven big-bloom modules (ten standard texts plus resources), then its Concept reader rendered Markdown and a View source link pinned to the public Ethera-docs commit. Screenshot archived as WebP. Browser inspection also caught edition metadata being selected as the small preview; the excerpt filter now skips Edition metadata alongside existing author/status labels, with a regression case. Full reader source remains unchanged. No new physical-phone test claimed.
2026-10-28 — Keep reading state during resize; measure production
Babuni.dev direction: switching fullscreen/window size must not close an open bloom; retain the map location. Measure production build, initial downloads and loading time, investigate the large JavaScript warning, and import new portal artwork. Human outcome: after hours the cache update no longer feels progressively slower; Chrome has some remaining unevenness while Firefox has little or none. The human mentioned long computer uptime as a possible influence, not a proven cause. This is positive long-session evidence, not universal FPS/heap acceptance.
AI finding and implementation: rebuildPool preserved big bloom but called stopSelection(false) for small bloom. Preserve active/pending selections too; retain existing panels, sampling/order, reservations and shift fraction. Scale pan and in-flight centering endpoints when tile size changes so the same logical map point remains centered. Do not reset elapsed animation time, change scroll behavior or speed up shifts.
Artwork: inspected four genuine 1254×1254 WebPs in Babuni.dev’s local public/portal-content folder: BattleReport, Ethera, ROARGuild and WarriorStartAttack. Imported exact bytes and matched existing project IDs, bringing the original artwork count to nineteen. No image editor, resizing or recompression was used; source hashes are in PERFORMANCE-2026-10-28.md.
Production evidence: local static production builds, not Astro development mode. Temporary localhost-only instrumentation exposed Navigation/Resource/Paint metrics in hidden DOM because browser read-only evaluation does not expose performance directly. Servers used no-store and no compression; the small probe is excluded from resource totals but its markup/runtime adds some overhead. Three updated cold loads: first grid DOM 53.9–78.1ms; DOMContentLoaded 69.8–95.2ms; load event 86.9–117.7ms; first contentful paint 80–156ms. Initial transfer about 6.34MiB, predominantly supplied artwork. These are local samples, not network/mobile or field performance promises. Largest-contentful-paint is affected by the long intentional reveal and the probe's cutoff, so it is not promoted as a complete LCP result.
Warning investigation and alternatives: the 534KiB generated index (including 451,298 intro characters) dominates the roughly 679KiB minified client chunk. All project intros are synchronous to preserve immediate bloom opening. Full Markdown remains lazy; no complete repository bodies were reintroduced. Compression estimates are distinct from actual serving compression. Do not raise the warning limit, shorten approved intros or introduce a first-click delay just to hide the warning. Smaller separate portal derivatives and per-project preview loading/prefetching are future proposals requiring their own review.
Verification: tests/build/content checks pass; viewport smoke checks retained the exact eight small-bloom IDs at 1280, 900 and 390px widths, selected artwork loaded, thirteen big modules survived resizing, and an open Concept reader survived phone-size resize and returned to its big bloom. New pure tests cover logical-center invariance and in-flight endpoint interpolation. Initial artwork-count tests were stale at fifteen, now updated to nineteen with exact new mappings. The first browser capture had failed image reloads because the temporary server ended; it is retained and explicitly superseded after restarting a detached local server and checking image decode. No physical-phone resize or affected Chrome/Firefox trace was run. See the performance report for full measurements and limits.
Final artifact note: the documented browser sample precedes the final journal/gallery metadata additions. Clean final client JS is about 680.2KiB raw / 192.1KiB estimated gzip; full deployable directory about 16.34MiB. The temporary measurement probe is absent from the clean output. All checks were rerun after correcting the import helper test’s stale missing-file count as well as the mapping counts.
2026-10-28 — Babuni.dev removes duplicates and non-projects
Babuni.dev direction: remove the Talent Design Atlas because it was a playful gimmick rather than a substantive project; remove Redridge Recipe Planner as a duplicate/earlier representation of FavorCraft; remove the standalone Human–AI Development Journal only after verifying its material is already inside BABUNI.DEV; retain MorkahjaWorld as the worldbuilding project and remove duplicate World and Peoples; check for the supplied Arcanitebrothers banner. This is four independent tile removals, not five; the AI's initial commentary count was corrected.
AI checks: the withdrawn journal mapping selected only docs/DEVLOG.md, docs/DECISIONS.md and docs/AI_COLLABORATION.md from the same BABUNI.DEV source. Its existing local modules and full source selection retain all three. The Atlas had actually been linked to the public wowforeverstuff repository; its existence does not override the human judgment that the tile is not an authentic project. Redridge's repository and snapshot were also present. The requested duplicate relationship is human evidence, not an AI code-equivalence audit.
Execution: removed the four semantic IDs from catalog, both topic maps and repository mappings. Removed the two external snapshots that became unconnected (17 documents), leaving all other snapshots untouched. No GitHub repository deletion or visibility change was attempted. Historical research/visual documentation stays identifiable as historical. Retained IDs and relative project order are unchanged; the spiral naturally closes the removed gaps. The active count is 49; 35 connected tiles use 35 public sources (34 external snapshots / 326 external documents).
Worldbuilding boundary: the earlier MorkahjaWorld-docs edition described a reserved implementation repository. Babuni.dev now explicitly identifies this website entry as the worldbuilding project. Updated tile/hover wording and added an explicitly attributed Worldbuilding clarification module explaining that the linked public edition predates the correction. Its pinned public documents were not fabricated, privately mirrored or silently overwritten. Updating that public edition with fuller worldbuilding remains content work, separate from removing the duplicate tile.
Artwork: found ArcaniteBrothers.webp in the local portal-content folder, visually inspected it, decoded it as 1536×1536 WebP, and copied its 169,052 bytes unchanged. SHA-256 9a19acb7469c34de9c9f70c1ba6d906c595e771b9a9d187c87b4434fc326ce4d. It is mapped to the existing arcanitebrothers ID; no crop, resize, redraw or recompression occurred.
Tests: the full command passes 30 test-file entries; direct catalog tests 4/4 and repository tests 11/11 pass; production build and content checks pass. Updated expected catalog/artwork/document totals and added cases proving withdrawals are absent while BABUNI collaboration material remains populated. Browser results follow separately; no new physical-device or long-session acceptance is claimed.
Browser result: Projects menu reported 49 entries, zero matches for the four withdrawn names and exactly one MorkahjaWorld. Menu selection centered Arcanitebrothers and opened eight modules; its selected portal image decoded at 1536px from the supplied WebP. Archived the browser capture with human-art/AI-capture attribution.
2026-10-28 — Remove family/template candidates
Babuni.dev requested: also remove The Amberbrew Family and Practical Templates Creator. AI execution: removed their semantic IDs from the shared grid/search catalog, both topic dictionaries and unresolved repository mappings. Neither had a connected repository snapshot or curated module content. Retained all other projects, sources, artwork and interactions. Active totals: 47 entries, 35 connected public sources, 10 missing-repository entries and two family-clarification entries. Extended existing withdrawal regressions and refreshed active reports. This is owner-directed curation; no speculative reason for withdrawal is invented. Verification is recorded below.
Verification: full test command passed 30 test-file entries, direct catalog suite 4/4 and repository suite 11/11 passed, production build/content guards and whitespace check passed. No new browser/phone capture or physical-device acceptance is claimed for this data-only follow-up.
2026-10-28 — Warehouse Performance Model withdrawn
Babuni.dev requested: remove Warehouse Performance Model too. Implemented by AI: removed its semantic ID from the active grid/search catalog, both topic maps and unresolved repository mappings. No connected snapshot or curated module existed; no repository, document, artwork or other project was deleted. Current totals: 46 entries, 35 connected public sources, nine missing-repository entries and two family-clarification entries. Historical inventory mentions remain historical. No interaction timing or layout change.
Verified: full command passed 30 test-file entries; direct repository suite passed 11/11; content checks, production build and whitespace check passed. No new browser or physical-device test claimed for this catalog-only follow-up.
2026-10-28 — GuildChatAI withdrawn
Babuni.dev requested: remove GuildChatAI too. AI implementation: removed its active catalog/topic/mapping records and the orphaned public GuildChatAI snapshot (ten documents). All other retained snapshots, projects, artwork and interaction behavior remain unchanged. No repository deletion was requested or performed. Active totals: 45 entries, 34 connected public sources, 33 external snapshots and 316 external documents. Historical research mentions remain historical. Verification is recorded in DEVLOG.
Verified: 30 passing test-file entries, direct repository suite 11/11, production build/content guards and whitespace checks passed. Compared snapshots to confirm only GuildChatAI was removed and all retained source objects are unchanged. No new browser or physical-device check claimed for this data-only follow-up.
2026-10-28 — Dual-PC Streaming Setup withdrawn
Babuni.dev requested: remove Dual-PC Streaming Setup too. AI implementation: removed its active semantic ID, topics and unresolved repository mapping. It had no connected source snapshot or curated module content. All other sources, projects, artwork and interactions remain unchanged; historical mentions remain historical. Current totals: 44 entries, 34 connected public sources, eight missing-repository entries and two family-clarification entries. No repository deletion or new timing/layout change. Verification is recorded in DEVLOG.
Verification: 30 test-file entries passed; direct repository suite 11/11, catalog suite 4/4 and intro suite 3/3 passed; production build/content guards and whitespace check passed. Smaller inventory exposed stale tests expecting 45 distinct projects on a 45-cell desktop: expectations now cover the existing modulo-repeat behavior with 44 entries while preserving 45 filled cells and spiral order. No runtime placement behavior changed. No new browser/physical-device test claimed for this catalog-only follow-up.
2026-10-28 — Mech-Arena withdrawn
Babuni.dev requested: remove Mech-Arena too. AI implementation: removed its active semantic ID, topic records and unresolved repository mapping. It had no connected source snapshot or curated module content. Other projects, documents, artwork, layout and timing remain unchanged; historical research mentions remain historical. Totals: 43 entries, 34 connected public sources, seven missing-repository entries and two family-clarification entries. No repository deletion. Verification is recorded in DEVLOG.
Verified: full test command passed 30 test-file entries; direct repository suite passed 11/11; production build/content guards and whitespace checks passed. No new browser or physical-device test claimed for this catalog-only change.
2026-10-28 — Local Prompt Lab is part of Anskar Grotzschnapf
Babuni.dev clarified: Local Prompt Lab is part of the Anskar Grotzschnapf project, not an independent project. AI implementation: removed the standalone catalog/topic/mapping records, retaining Anskar Grotzschnapf and its existing public source unchanged. No imported Local Prompt Lab snapshot or curated modules existed to transfer. Preserve supplied LocalPromptLab.webp as historical artwork rather than delete it. Active totals: 42 entries, 34 connected public sources, six missing-repository entries and two family-clarification entries. Nineteen active artwork assignments; twenty supplied portal WebPs retained. No repository deletion, automatic source rewrite or interaction change. Verification is recorded in DEVLOG.
Verified: full test command passed 30 test-file entries; direct repository suite 11/11, production build/content guards and whitespace check passed. Updated the expected spiral position after removing an earlier catalog entry; placement logic is unchanged. The source snapshot was not modified. No new browser/physical-device test claimed for this catalog-only follow-up.
2026-10-28 — Catalog changes expose placement identity faults
Babuni.dev requested: investigate duplicate projects and projects changing after shifts; support adding/removing projects; add Rocket Game 42; rename Morkahja/Worldbuilding/Roar Guild and check its logo. Provide a complete menu grouping suggestion before implementing it.
AI findings/proposal: the old placement policy repeated projects when capacity ran out and repaired collisions by renaming visible residents at settlement. A seeded reproduction with 42 projects and 45 cells recorded 63 continuing-source changes over 30 shifts. Staging also reused departing identities before their animation had left the screen. The AI suggested conditional tile enlargement; Babuni.dev declined it, noting the difference between full/partly visible cells and browser usable area.
Babuni.dev decided: preserve size and feel; add five gray, non-project placeholders without portals, with a subtle central detail. Repetition is acceptable when unavoidable, but should be avoided. AI implemented an incised diamond in CSS. Five filler identities sit outside the project catalog; decorative fillers may repeat if more than five vacancies are required, rather than repeat real projects. Existing filler residents persist to avoid sudden identity changes; they are not immediately replaced merely because a real project becomes free.
Implemented: placement reserves every still-visible departure and offscreen pinned selection, stages entrants before movement and preserves continuing assignments. Runtime renders neutral disabled tiles and excludes them from topics, keyboard and direct navigation. Rocket Game 42 imports ten public Markdown documents at source commit 29028bcd2ed476de92bbed96d6f464e0c2968383; no gameplay verification is claimed. Requested display renames preserve IDs. Roar Guild community and RoarGuild addon share one supplied artwork file. No unrelated snapshots were refreshed. The menu remains ungrouped; PROJECT_GROUPING_PROPOSAL.md lists all 43 projects exactly once and flags possible duplicates for review.
Tested: 17 placement tests, including 960 shifts across four catalog sizes, 80 panning windows and 100 shifts around displaced small-bloom columns; full Node test-file runner and production build passed. Browser at 1920×1080 showed unique real projects with neutral vacancies. After excluding a hot reload caused by editing source during the first observation, a fresh observation found zero identity changes among 44 continuing DOM tiles across autonomous motion, with 41 visible real projects all unique. Browser menu lists 43 projects, no fillers, and selecting Rocket Game 42 queues behind the normal shift. A final navigation check confirmed its eight small-bloom preview modules opened; the supplied Roar Guild image loaded, and inspected neutral controls were disabled with no project dataset. Two available captures archived as WebP. These short browser observations are not extended desktop/mobile acceptance; repeat user testing remains open.
2026-10-28 — Human testing rejects neutral walls
Babuni.dev reported/decided: the previous fix produced walls of empty gray tiles while panning (human desktop screenshot). The priority was stable identities, not absolute project uniqueness. Use three unique non-duplicating neutral tiles, then allow real-project repetition where needed. Approve the proposed menu-only groups. Keep Arcanitebrothers instead of the duplicate Morkahja Admin Console. Distinguish the repository-backed RoarGuild Add-on from the Roar Guild community; only the community owns the supplied guild image. An initial suggestion to remove Analubia was withdrawn in the same message, so it remains. Add Mighty Morkah (YouTube piano/music videos) and Elixior (SoundCloud music/audio art). The YouTube gaming-video move is a future human task.
AI diagnosis: the previous implementation explicitly permitted repeated filler IDs and preserved all filler residents, including prefetched offscreen decoration. This policy made filler density grow during panning. Earlier short stationary browser checks failed to expose the problem; they did not justify extended acceptance. This supersedes the earlier five-filler policy.
AI execution: neutral capacity reduced to three; each neutral gets a distinct CSS engraving. Buffer-only prefetch uses real project candidates and allocates neutral identities only at actual entrance/visibility reconciliation. All three neutral IDs are reserved uniquely before fallback repeats a real project. Continuing source cells and pre-staged entrants remain protected; staged offscreen values survive intermediate camera sync until they enter or leave retention. No timing, tile-size or diagonal-motion change. Menu category membership lives separately from the catalog/grid and filtering omits empty headings. A Music category houses the two newly supplied profiles. New text is an attributed AI editorial summary of Babuni.dev's description; no track titles, embed IDs, media downloads or completed channel migration were invented. Direct web retrieval of the supplied profiles was unavailable; link destinations are retained exactly as provided, with no playback/availability claim.
Verification plan/evidence: placement regression checks exercise 960 shifts across four catalog sizes, intermediate synchronization, 80 reduced-library panning windows, 100 bloom-displaced column shifts, saturated panning and buffer-only allocation. Group membership tests cover every active project exactly once and music search; artwork tests distinguish community/addon. Browser verification and final test/build outcomes are recorded below. Physical-device/long-session acceptance remains open.
Additional browser finding and correction: direct navigation to a buffered duplicate initially centered but did not open the music bloom. Reserving continuing identities ahead of new arrivals could cause the newly visible pinned destination to be assigned a different project. The selected source now explicitly keeps its identity even when another copy remains visible; a regression test asserts both identities survive. After correction, direct menu navigation opened Mighty Morkah and then switched to Elixior, each with two preview modules and the exact supplied YouTube/SoundCloud link. No external playback was tested.
Final checks: 20 placement tests passed, including 960 shift iterations, intermediate offscreen staging sync, 80 reduced-library pans, 100 bloom-displaced shifts, saturation/buffer and pinned-duplicate tests. The full direct Node run passed 159 tests; the standard runner passed all 30 test files, and the production build passed. Browser at 1920×1080 after two wide drags counted 54 intersecting tiles, exactly three different neutral IDs and no repeated neutral; real-project repetitions were allowed. Grouped menu showed 44 entries under five headings; music search returned the two outlets. All three AI captures and the human failure screenshot were archived in the gallery/manifest. The existing >500 kB JavaScript warning remains. No full TypeScript checker is configured; extended human desktop/phone testing remains open.
2026-10-28 — Character-story portal correction
Babuni.dev requested: use BuxbrewCharacter.webp for the Buxbrew — character story tile. AI execution: copied the existing supplied WebP from the local testing checkout unchanged and assigned it to stable ID buxbrew-character-story; the separate Buxbrew repository tile is unchanged. Verification: validated WebP signature and updated artwork mapping/import assertions; content checks and production build run for this change. No image editing or timing/geometry changes.
2026-10-28 — Supplied Morkahja artwork
Babuni.dev requested: use the newly supplied Morkahja.webp. AI interpretation/execution: assign it to Morkahja (morkahja-rpg), keeping the separate Worldbuilding entry as it is. Copied the existing WebP from the local testing checkout without editing or re-encoding. Verification: WebP signature checked, artwork mapping/import assertions updated, targeted artwork tests and production build run before publication. No timing, sizing or positioning changes.
2026-10-28 — TotemTimers supplied artwork
Babuni.dev requested: TotemTimers.webp for the project portal. AI execution: copied the supplied local WebP unchanged and mapped it to stable ID totemtimers; no image generation, re-encoding, geometry or timing changes. Verification: WebP signature checked; targeted artwork tests and production build run before publication. Human visual acceptance remains open.
2026-10-28 — Babuni Gaming and the original cat
Babuni.dev direction: add Babuni Gaming as its own gaming/streaming and experience-sharing project, open to all games but currently focused on World of Warcraft. Include the supplied YouTube, CurseForge and Instagram profiles. Explain the relationship to some add-on work and Azeroth Moments without replacing those projects. Use the original cat from Morningex1.jpg exactly as supplied and convert it to WebP.
AI interpretation/proposal: place it under Games because its remit extends beyond WoW; the existing WoW project group and individual projects stay intact. Provide three populated modules: Overview, Gaming and add-ons, Watch and follow. Summaries are AI editorial paraphrases of the human's description, with attribution, not scraped channel descriptions. No streaming platform, schedule, individual video embed or repository was invented. The previous Mighty Morkah gaming-video migration remains a human plan, not a completion claim.
Execution: stable ID babuni-gaming, public links copied exactly from the user, three concise topic labels, Games membership and explicit no-dedicated-repository note. Original JPEG retained outside public assets; lossless WebP conversion keeps all 1000×1000 decoded RGB pixels unchanged, verified by byte comparison of decoded image pixels. The source artwork is not cropped, retouched, regenerated or resized; the established round portal mask is the only display clipping. This is supplied human artwork, not AI art.
Source verification: the public CurseForge page was readable and identifies BabuniGaming with its addon projects. Direct YouTube/Instagram retrieval failed, so those URLs and the streaming project description rely on Babuni.dev's explicit supplied information. No account changes, media migration or uploads were made.
Verification: standard Node runner passed all 30 test files after adding catalog, topic, menu membership, exact profile-link and artwork coverage. Production build and browser checks recorded below before publication; physical desktop/phone visual acceptance remains open.
Final verification: 161 tests passed in direct Node execution across all 30 test files; production build passed with the existing >500 kB JavaScript warning. Browser search found Babuni Gaming under Games and opened three previews; the cat loaded at 1000×1000 and all three supplied profile URLs were present. One AI browser screenshot was saved and archived as WebP in the gallery/visual manifest. External media playback, social account actions and physical-device acceptance were not tested or performed.
2026-10-28 — EnchantVisuals supplied artwork
Babuni.dev requested: EnchantVisuals.webp for the project portal. AI execution: copied the supplied WebP from the local testing checkout unchanged and assigned it to stable ID enchantvisuals. No image editing, geometry or timing changes. Verification: checked WebP signature; targeted artwork tests and production build run before publication. Human visual acceptance remains open.
2026-10-28 — Buxbrew Addon naming
Babuni.dev requested: rename Buxbrew to Buxbrew Addon. AI execution: changed the catalog display name only, preserving stable ID buxbrew, repository mapping and the separate Buxbrew — character story entry. Regenerated the repository report to match. Verification: existing catalog/navigation checks and production build run before publication; no interaction, timing or positioning changes.
2026-10-28 — BuxbrewCharge supplied artwork
Babuni.dev requested: BuxbrewCharge.webp for the project portal. AI execution: copied the supplied WebP from the local testing checkout unchanged and mapped it to stable ID buxbrewcharge. No image editing, geometry or timing changes. Verification: WebP signature checked; targeted artwork tests and production build run before publication. Human visual acceptance remains open.
2026-10-28 — Buxbrew Addon supplied artwork
Babuni.dev requested: BuxbrewAddon.webp for the addon portal. AI execution: copied the supplied WebP from the local testing checkout unchanged and mapped it to stable ID buxbrew. The character-story and BuxbrewCharge artwork mappings remain separate. No image editing, geometry or timing changes. Verification: WebP signature checked; targeted artwork tests and production build run before publication. Human visual acceptance remains open.
2026-10-27 — Content validation and authoring
Babuni.dev requested: Proceed with Content Validation and Authoring after positive hands-on feedback. This is not blanket acceptance of every outstanding device/accessibility check.
AI interpretation and execution: Add dependency-free local validation and non-writing blank templates around the existing JSON contract. Keep intentional empty definitions, existing content and navigation intact. A CMS, MDX migration, another project and CI were left for separate work. Validation catches malformed records, duplicate IDs, missing assets/documents, unsupported fields and unsafe destinations.
Verification: Initial new test incorrectly expected all secondary diagnostics from an already-invalid record; corrected it to test missing previews independently. Final suite/build results are recorded below. No new phone or browser interaction test was performed for this tooling-only change.
Tested: All 13 test files passed with npm run test:grid; npm run build passed including the new content gate; git diff --check passed. Template tests cover all four empty module kinds, malformed definitions, source/media errors, duplicate IDs, preview requirements and document ambiguity. Browser/phone verification was not repeated because no interaction code changed.
2026-10-27 — Five more project portals
Babuni.dev supplied: A folder screenshot showing five additional portal images, continuing the established logo-assignment workflow. AI interpretation and implementation: Match filenames to stable project IDs and copy the PNG files unchanged. Preserve the supplied LocalAAIWorkstation.png spelling. No motion, content or layout changes. Verification: Recorded below after checks; no new human device acceptance is claimed.
Tested: All 13 test files, production build (including content validation) and whitespace checks passed. Renderer code was unchanged; no browser or physical-phone visual check was repeated. Final circular crops remain available for Babuni.dev’s visual review.
2026-10-27 — Framed detail reader
Babuni.dev requested: Replace the abrupt full-screen detail overlay with a framed square, visible grid on all sides and scrolling inside; introduce a fade/grow entrance. AI implementation choice: Size the square to the smaller viewport dimension, capped at 980 CSS pixels, leaving at least 16px side and 24px vertical margins. Use a 420ms fade from 96% scale and a translucent backdrop. Retain native modal focus/Escape/back behavior and existing playback cleanup. Reduced-motion preference removes the animation via the existing global rule. Only detail presentation changed; grid and bloom clocks are untouched.
Tested: All 13 test files passed; production build and whitespace checks passed. At 1280×720 in the browser, the settled panel measured 672×672 with visible surround, computed entrance duration 0.42s, and overflowing text. PageDown advanced dialog scrollTop to 584 while window scroll stayed zero. Back and Escape removed detail and retained big bloom. Screenshot: framed-detail-reader.png (workspace artifact, not repository content). Phone and reduced-motion device checks were not performed; CSS retains the existing global reduced-motion override. The initial sandbox preview could not start; the approved local preview succeeded.
2026-10-27 — Hidden scrollbars
Babuni.dev requested: Remove all visible scrollbars. AI interpretation and implementation: Hide scrollbar chrome globally using standard and WebKit CSS, retain native overflow/reading gestures, and remove the reader’s reserved scrollbar gutter. No animation or navigation behavior changed. Tested: Production build including content validation and whitespace checks passed. No new browser/phone check was performed for this CSS-only change; actual scroll gestures were verified in the immediately preceding reader change.
2026-10-27 — Repository-backed project documentation
Babuni.dev requested: Connect all portfolio projects to their repositories and use the common documentation structure; list projects without a repository so sources can be created or identified. Babuni.dev reported preparing at least 26 repositories. Babuni.dev decided: Use public repositories only and list private ones for review.
AI research: Enumerated all 39 repositories returned for the accessible babunidev account (second pagination page empty): 34 public and five private. Inspected public trees and standard document files. Verified aliases AsnkarGrotzschnapf/master and wowforeverstuff; AzerothMoments is a public reserved documentation shell whose README points to a separate private application. The public Rocketgame42 repository has no existing tile and was reported rather than inserted into the grid.
AI interpretation and alternatives: Keep explicit, reviewable tile-to-repository mappings rather than fuzzy matching on every build. Fetch only standard documentation, not entire repositories or agent instructions. Use an explicit refresh plus checked-in source snapshot rather than visitor-time GitHub requests or automatic unreviewed publication. This permits offline builds and a coherent commit revision per repository. Raw upstream Markdown remains the source text; generated previews are deterministic excerpts, not new factual claims. Existing curated previews/media and the small-bloom eight-module cap remain; a source document can populate a formerly empty matching text definition.
Implemented: Map all 53 tiles. Connect 34 tiles through 33 public repositories (one shared methodology source); import 303 files from 32 remote repositories. Twelve tiles need a source, four directly match private repositories, and three require project-family clarification. Local private URL review is outside the public repo. No private document bodies were fetched or published. Native safe text rendering remains; advanced GitHub Markdown is still limited.
Verification and limitations: Final checks recorded below. The larger documentation payload produces Vite’s large-chunk warning; this is a real first-load cost, not a failed build. Per-project lazy delivery is future work. Repo documentation claims are preserved with source attribution, not independently gameplay-tested. No source repositories were modified and no production deployment occurred.
Tested: Live public refresh fetched 303 nonempty documents from 32 remote repositories. Tests cover all 53 statuses, all snapshot/module source bodies, unique module IDs, eight-module sampling, preservation of media/curated previews, private exclusion, pinned commits, missing files, HTTP/rate-limit failures, shared-source deduplication and coverage-report consistency. All 14 test files passed; production build (including source/content validation) and whitespace checks passed. The Vite warning is retained: the client script is approximately 1.81 MB before transfer compression. No full TypeScript check or production performance acceptance is claimed.
Browser observed: RoarForever opened eight sourced preview modules, full README detail contained its actual repository text, and View source used the exact fetched commit. Return to big bloom worked; scrollbar styling remained none. BABUNI.DEV displayed eight sampled small previews and all 13 populated big cards; their measured rectangles had no mutual overlap in that settled sample. Saved screenshot repository-backed-roar-detail.png is a local workspace artifact. These are browser/mouse observations, not physical-phone verification or extended shift acceptance. An obsolete top-level architecture status was corrected to reflect the implemented system, while historical proposals were retained.
2026-10-27 — Make the expanding portfolio lighter without changing how it moves
Babuni.dev direction and evidence. After a repository review, the AI recommended two infrastructural improvements: stop loading every repository's full documentation when the grid first appears, and set up automatic GitHub checks for collaboration across developer sessions. Babuni.dev explicitly authorized the recommendations (“OK DO WHAT YOU RECOPMMENDED”). Earlier in the conversation Babuni.dev supplied a fresh local terminal log showing 92 passing tests, zero npm-audit vulnerabilities, a successful static build, and Vite's warning about a JavaScript chunk exceeding 500 kB. This evidence belongs to the prior revision, not the present change.
AI investigation. The browser's entry graph imported all of src/content/repository-documents.json (about 1.34 MB) and ten local Markdown files through src/lib/project-content.ts, even for visitors who only looked at the living grid. The same synchronous content function feeds both the small and big bloom. Making bloom selection itself await a network request would compromise Babuni.dev's accepted center-first motion and calm reveal timing. The AI therefore chose to preserve synchronous content metadata and postpone the full original Markdown until the visitor asks to read it.
Implemented approach. A deterministic Node preparation script creates (1) a compact document index with repository/source references, existing excerpts and the same up-to-1,600-character big-bloom intros, and (2) separate static Markdown files under public/_project-docs/. Both are compiled exclusively from already-reviewed public snapshots and locally maintained project documents. Generation occurs before dev/test/build, requires no network or GitHub credentials, and never exports private or unresolved mapping entries. The generated files are ignored by Git rather than becoming a second editable source of truth. Runtime modulesForProject reads the small generated index immediately; original source-linked text is fetched in the scrollable detail only. The reader shows a loading message and offers a retry when a request fails, and its outstanding fetch is aborted if the reader closes. Existing media and hand-authored excerpts are retained.
Alternative considered. A single Vite dynamic import of the whole JSON payload would have avoided first-load transfer, but the first opened project would still download every other project's documents. Making each small bloom await network data would introduce unpredictable delay into the user-approved animations. Static full documents per project plus a compact index avoided both disadvantages. The metadata includes original big-bloom intro text up to the existing limit, so rich previews remain instant. The cost is generated assets on disk and a small initial index; those costs need a production bundle-size check.
Automatic checks. A GitHub Actions workflow installs the lockfile with Node 24, runs the entire grid/content test suite, then the static Astro build. Its default GitHub token is read-only; no deployment credentials or production actions are involved. The tests examine exact source-to-static-file parity, the allowlist, indexed text modules and safe same-origin loading.
Verification and openness. The prior user's successful local run is the benchmark, not proof that this new implementation passes. GitHub-hosted checks and the rebuilt browser's actual JavaScript transfer size must be observed separately after committing. Known risks to check: base-path serving assumptions (the planned site is served at its domain root), small/large bloom preview parity, offline detail failure messages and repeat navigation. The recorded content-source and attribution rules have not been changed.
First CI run and correction (2026-10-27). GitHub Actions actually started on commit 10c7249. Installation and content generation succeeded, and 96/97 tests passed. The newly added fidelity test exposed a subtle one-character mismatch: the generated 1,600-character intro already ended with an ellipsis, but moduleIntro normalized and trimmed that stored intro again, yielding slightly different text. This was not a shift/bloom mechanics failure. The AI fixed the issue by returning a generated intro verbatim and retaining the existing normalization only for ungenerated body/preview text. The same correction updates the Actions checkout/setup-node versions to their Node 24-compatible v5 releases. CI must pass on the follow-up commit before this is recorded as fully verified.
CI verification checkpoint, 2026-10-27. On follow-up commit 3041e01, GitHub Actions completed successfully: npm ci, 97/97 grid/content tests, source-document asset preparation, content validation and the Astro production build all passed. This verifies the integration in an independent clean Node 24 runner. The build still emitted Vite's >500 kB JavaScript-chunk warning despite removing full Markdown from the entry graph. Therefore the performance objective is only partially verified: source separation succeeded, but the actual output sizes and download timings have not yet been measured. The AI added scripts/report-bundle-size.mjs and an Actions reporting step to print raw and gzip client JavaScript sizes after future builds without modifying page behavior. The tool reports build artifacts, not browser transfer measurements. A follow-up architectural decision on preview-index splitting should be based on those numbers.
Measured build result and verified CI, 2026-10-27. Follow-up commit a12fde3 completed its clean GitHub Actions pipeline successfully: all 97 tests passed, content validation and Astro production build passed, and the new size reporter completed. It measured the single emitted JavaScript chunk at 584.7 KiB raw / 174.0 KiB gzip. Vite still warns at its default 500 KiB raw-chunk threshold. This is a real result, not an estimate or proof of visitor network timings. The original full 1.34 MB snapshot and local original Markdown are now separate static resources accessed by reader details, while the excerpt/introduction index remains in the initial bundle. The assistant deliberately did not shorten the approved big-bloom previews, inflate Vite's warning threshold, or force speculative code splitting just to clear a warning. Remaining performance work should use browser Network/Performance measurements and preserve Babuni.dev's approved browsing feel.
2026-10-27 — A tiny flicker reveals a tile-identity handoff
Babuni.dev's observation. While watching the living grid, Babuni.dev saw the circular portal logos flicker briefly just after the shifting tiles reached their new positions. They asked this developer to investigate why. This feedback concerns the moment after the established slow shift animation, not its trajectory, duration or visual direction.
AI investigation. The renderer's frameMovement moves each tile by a CSS transform for the approved 4.4-second shift. At the last frame it appended the ShiftEvent to history and ran updateField(true), which resolves the newly occupied logical sources inside the same static DOM slot pool. On any slot whose project index changed, populate unconditionally called portal.replaceChildren() and created a fresh lazily decoded <img>, even when the project was already visible a moment earlier on the tile that physically moved into that position. That was a plausible concrete mechanism for a post-arrival artwork blink. Previously implemented entrance staging reduced name/identity changes but did not carry the actual decoded image DOM nodes through the final handoff.
AI technical choice. Instead of preloading every heavy portal PNG or masking the flicker with an opacity animation, transfer the existing rendered tile element to the fixed logical DOM slot representing where that element visually landed. Move its projectIndex along with it, and reset its absolute left/top and movement transform at the exact arrival position. For each currently shifting line, rotate its already-present bounded pool of DOM residents in the shift direction; only the end element wraps to the far opposite buffer edge (out of view), where project identity can be legitimately recycled. During a small bloom the destination ordering follows the actual occupied cell coordinates, rather than raw undeformed columns. This reuses decoded portal images, focus state and topic DOM without reparenting them. Existing sourceCell/history mapping remains responsible for persistent semantic identity.
Alternatives and limits. A simple same-image src comparison would only help a rare case where a recycled slot already happened to display the destination's artwork. Eager preloading all portal PNGs would cost substantial traffic; rebuilding the entire DOM or changing shift duration would break the carefully designed interaction feel. The approach intentionally does not change timers, history events, dice decisions or bloom geometry. This is an AI implementation proposal prompted by Babuni.dev's visual bug report; it is not yet visually confirmed. Tests cover normal and bloom-aware slot rotations; CI/build and Babuni.dev's direct browser check must confirm that the user-observed blink is eliminated. If any residual flicker remains, capture a DevTools Network/Performance frame before introducing further complexity.
2026-10-27 — Original WebP portal artwork and the GitHub handoff
Babuni.dev direction. Babuni.dev supplied a screenshot showing twelve completed WebP portal logos and asked the development assistant to change all project image paths to WebP, add any new project artwork, and explain how to commit the image assets to GitHub. Babuni.dev clarified that they had already converted and replaced the PNG files locally, following an earlier optimization recommendation. The assistant initially misinterpreted this as a request to create/convert artwork and proposed a PNG-fallback staging scheme; Babuni.dev objected. The assistant acknowledged the mistake and abandoned that scheme. The actual request is a GitHub source-reference update plus a clear handoff for uploading the original already-converted files.
AI source audit. At the start of this change, the remote repository still contained eleven public/portal-content/*.png binaries and eleven portalArtwork entries ending in .png. The screenshot additionally contained BuxbrewResist.webp, a project with no prior portalArtwork mapping. The screenshot displays thumbnails and names only; it does not give this cloud session access to the high-quality original WebP bytes on Babuni.dev's computer. It would be misleading to pretend those local files were already on GitHub or to manufacture replacements from thumbnail pixels.
Implemented code. Eleven references in src/lib/demo-projects.ts now point directly at same-stem .webp files, with a twelfth path for BuxbrewResist. The existing portal renderer uses portalArtwork unchanged. There is no fallback, re-encoding, or alteration of circular crops, portal size, bloom movement, or logo design. The optional artwork:import script checks all twelve local WebP originals, accepts spaces/capitalization in the filename, and puts their exact bytes in the canonical public/portal-content/ paths; when source and destination are the same folder it renames noncanonical filenames rather than duplicating them. The final Git handoff uses git add -A public/portal-content, git commit, git push so that additions and old PNG deletions are both tracked.
Trade-off and verification. It would have been possible to delay the code commit until a later upload, or retain PNG fallbacks, but Babuni.dev explicitly wanted the remote project paths changed to the already-created WebPs. Therefore the temporary gap between the cloud code commit and Babuni.dev's image commit may cause missing artwork and an expected CI content-asset failure. This is an incomplete two-stage change, not a verified deployed image migration. The creator's local WebP asset commit, a green CI run and actual browser inspection are required to complete it. The AI wrote source-level mapping/import regression tests but did not run them in a local Node/Astro environment.
2026-10-27 — Complete supplied WebP artwork and retain reader attribution
Babuni.dev requested: Include the additional supplied WebP images as well as the earlier set, and fix problems identified during review. AI investigation: The actual local folder contains fifteen square, decodable WebP images, including ROARR, The Great Iceflow Relay and a newly supplied WorkThatGodBod image beyond the twelve metadata entries on main. The twelve existing WebP references had been published without their binary assets, causing validation and CI failures. Local PNG deletions represent the user’s conversion and are retained in the published migration. No supplied WebP pixels are altered.
AI implementation: Copy all fifteen supplied WebPs unchanged, explicitly map the three additional projects and remove the superseded tracked PNGs. Keep existing tile dimensions, circular clipping, shifts and bloom behavior. Isolate asynchronous reader text/loading/retry UI in document-body.ts; source links and credits remain sibling elements in the reader article.
Alternatives and scope: Restoring PNG references would discard the chosen WebP migration; adding only the previous twelve would omit the new supplied projects. Re-appending footers after every request is fragile; a dedicated body container keeps attribution outside all success/error replacements. Preserve request cancellation and stale-view guards. No new timing or positioning changes are introduced.
Verification: All fifteen images decoded successfully with Pillow at their original sizes (512 to 1664 pixels square). Regression tests cover all fifteen assigned paths and body-load success, failure/retry, stale responses and cancellation while retaining footer siblings. Final build/browser outcomes are recorded below; human phone acceptance is separate.
Final verification: All 109 tests across 18 test files passed in the full Node run. Content validation, document asset preparation, production build and whitespace checks passed. In the 1280×720 browser, BABUNI.DEV’s WebP decoded successfully, the selected Concept document loaded in full, and its View source link plus attribution remained as direct footer siblings after loading. End scrolled inside the reader; a screenshot of the restored footer is saved as restored-reader-attribution.png in the workspace. These are desktop browser observations; failure/retry/cancellation paths are covered by focused tests rather than network fault injection in the browser. No native-phone check or new prolonged shift acceptance is claimed.
2026-10-27 — Render repository Markdown as document structure
Babuni.dev reported: The WorkThatGodBod Content reader shows raw Markdown markers such as double asterisks, backticks and quote prefixes rather than their intended formatting. The supplied screenshot is human evidence of that display defect. AI investigation: The original small renderer handled headings, flat lists, fences and simple links, but not most inline formatting, quotes or tables. Its hand-written line rules were inadequate for directly reusing repository documentation.
AI implementation choice: Add Marked as a single maintained parsing dependency and consume its tokens through a small explicit DOM renderer. Do not use parser-generated HTML or innerHTML. This preserves literal treatment of embedded HTML and safe HTTP(S)-only navigation. Repository source URLs provide bases for relative links; heading references scroll within the reader. Images in Markdown remain explicit links, preserving the existing non-automatic-media policy. Existing gallery/video modules are unaffected.
Alternatives: Extending ad-hoc regular expressions would keep producing incomplete Markdown support; inserting full parser HTML would require another sanitization layer and alter the source trust boundary. Token-to-DOM rendering supports the actual needed formatting while retaining source safety and attribution footers. No motion, panel sizing or navigation-depth changes accompany this repair.
Tests: The real WorkThatGodBod Content document now produces strong/emphasis/code/blockquote/break elements. Coverage includes nested ordered/task lists, tables/alignment, strikeout, code fences, reference/relative/heading links, duplicate headings, escaped HTML, dangerous schemes and explicit image links. All 303 imported documents parse with no script, iframe, object, style or image elements introduced. An initial token inspection showed Marked emits a checkbox token in addition to task metadata; the renderer consumes it without displaying duplicate raw task markers. Final checks/browser evidence follow below.
Final verification: All 114 tests across 19 files passed; content validation, document preparation, production build and whitespace checks passed. Browser verification opened WorkThatGodBod → Content through both bloom depths, then observed rendered bold labels and counts, EXERCISES/filename inline code, three quote blocks, one semantic table, a retained source footer and scrollbar-width none. A 1280×720 screenshot is saved as markdown-reader-workthatgodbod.png in the workspace. No native-phone check is claimed. Marked adds a dependency/initial payload cost: the measured client artifact is about 633.5 KiB raw / 188.8 KiB gzip, with the existing Vite chunk warning retained rather than suppressed. npm’s dependency audit reported zero vulnerabilities at installation time.
2026-10-27 — Dismiss the reader from its surround
Babuni.dev requested: Close the reader by clicking outside its framed panel and remove the Back to big bloom button. AI implementation: Add intentional backdrop-click dismissal and route it through the existing close/return function, preserving media cleanup, request cancellation, big-bloom camera and trigger focus restoration. Focus the title on opening now that the button is gone. Escape uses the same return path.
Interaction guard: Both the primary pointer press and click must land outside the current panel rectangle. Inside content/padding clicks, secondary pointers, cancelled gestures and text-selection drags crossing the frame do not dismiss. Consume the dismissal click so it cannot select underlying grid content. No layout, bloom or shift timing changes.
Verification: Focused gesture tests cover all four margins, inside clicks, crossing drags, secondary/synthetic/cancelled clicks and Escape. Final full-suite/build/browser results follow below. Native-phone testing remains separate.
Final verification: All 118 tests across 20 files passed, along with content validation, document preparation, production build and whitespace checks. In the 1280×720 browser, the former button was absent and opening focus landed on the H1. Clicking that heading left the reader open. Clicking the left surround closed it, retained big bloom and restored focus to Read more: Overview; reopening then Escape did the same. A screenshot of the reader without its former button is saved as reader-outside-dismissal.png in the workspace. Gesture crossing/cancellation cases are unit-tested; native-phone verification was not performed.
2026-10-27 — Markdown throughout the bloom depths
Babuni.dev requested: Format Markdown in small and big modules as in the reader; content completion is secondary in this living, growing project. AI interpretation and implementation: Reuse the existing safe renderer, retain Markdown in bounded generated excerpts, and use compact typography within existing cards. Preview link labels do not navigate away; the reader retains active source links. Alternatives: Plain-text summaries were rejected by this request; fetching complete documents into previews was avoided to retain on-demand delivery. No timing or spatial changes. Verification: Regression tests cover both preview depths and excerpt formatting; final test/build and browser results are recorded below. Open: Content can remain WIP; physical-phone acceptance remains separate.
Verified outcome: All 121 Node regression tests pass; production build and whitespace checks pass. Browser verification observed formatted emphasis in a small Decisions preview and 13 big-bloom cards with headings, emphasis, code and lists. Saved browser evidence: markdown-bloom-preview.png in the local task workspace. No new physical-phone verification was performed. The existing large-bundle warning remains.
2026-10-27 — Navigation across all four stages and saved visual evidence
Babuni.dev requested: Keep the header in every stage, restore the planned About and Projects menu, search projects in the dropdown and move to/open the chosen project. Add all saved AI browser screenshots to visual documentation. AI interpretation: One shared header, including inside the reader’s modal top layer; native search/list buttons; reuse existing calm shift and close/open procedures. About is a brief project introduction using available concept/authorship information, not a new personal biography. Alternatives: A separate full-screen project directory and resetting the grid were avoided. Missing resident projects reserve an offscreen recycled cell before normal centering. Reader frame animation belongs to its inner panel so it never transforms the header. Implemented: Search by project name/summary, alphabetical list, empty state, keyboard search/selection, About, header restoration after reader dismissal, gallery archive and manifest. Provenance: 19 available saved captures, including superseded prototypes; no claim of recovering unsaved images or inaccessible chat artifacts. Verification results follow below.
Verification and correction: 126 Node tests pass; production build and whitespace checks pass. Browser verified grid/small/big/reader header visibility, searchable and empty results, About, direct selection from the reader, outside-reader dismissal and a big-bloom-to-another-project switch. That last check initially exposed a stale buffered identity during centering; direct navigation now explicitly reserves the requested source identity before camera recycling, and the repeated switch completed with eight modules for the correct destination. All 19 prior available captures plus two new captures are archived (21 AI screenshots, 23 gallery images including the two supplied originals). No physical-phone verification or full type-check is claimed. The existing large-client-bundle warning remains.
2026-10-27 — Phone reader feedback, activity and WIP About
Babuni.dev direction and evidence: Actual phone testing found the reader too small while the rest of mobile looked, worked and felt good. Requested a taller edge-to-edge rectangle, no side frame, an exposed area below for dismissal, shrinking reader closure, centered descriptive header activity, header-end help on hover/tap, and no small-bloom Close button. Opening animation was explicitly accepted. AI implementation: Preserve the 420ms opening and existing grid timing; reverse the panel scale/opacity on dismissal, retaining modal/header until completion. Phone rectangle reserves at least 64px beneath it; desktop square remains. Header names centering/opening/waiting/exploring depths/reading module; compact headers use a second activity row. Controls live behind the question mark; Return to center is retained there. About follow-up: Babuni.dev authorized collecting available chats and existing knowledge into a WIP. AI inspected bounded available project chats (Project Collection Review, ProjectManagerBabunidev, Create Ollama Art and ROARforever Chat) and existing public project documentation. Public social links are present in FavorCraft README; GitHub identity follows the connected public repository owner. No supported personal origin, legal name or dated life history was found, so none was invented. Draft prose is AI editorial synthesis, not a verbatim autobiography. Alternatives: Keep the existing desktop frame; change phone layout only. No extra screen depth, new loading policy or movement retiming. Final verification follows below.
Verified outcome: All 129 Node tests and production build pass. Browser observed no bottom prompts or small-bloom Close, click-to-open controls help, centered About and project/module reading labels, correct small/big exploration labels, and a modal still mounted during shrink followed by removal. Two desktop screenshots were archived in Visual documentation. This browser surface exposes no mobile viewport resizing, so no phone-layout visual verification is claimed; Babuni.dev’s earlier positive phone report applies to the preceding version. No standalone full type check exists. Existing large-bundle warning remains.
Final navigation check: Project selection from About preserved the reader during its shrink, then completed with eight small-bloom modules for BABUNI.DEV and the matching activity label; browser error log was empty. Reading activity now takes precedence over underlying movement callbacks until the reader has closed.
2026-10-27 — Repository audit #28: the portfolio becomes the subject of its own record
Creator direction. Babuni.dev has been guiding a sequential, repository-by-repository documentation audit so that the finished portfolio can show how the projects came to exist, not merely link to their source. The next relevant repository after #27 ButtonGame is #28 babuni.dev, created on GitHub October 25. The date describes this current repository, not the beginning of the creative vision. The existing journal already records the October 24 toy-box discussions, evolving grid geometry, corrections to AI assumptions and ongoing browser/phone verification. No retrospective assistant should replace those events with a cleaner but false history.
What the creator wanted. The portfolio is not a conventional landing page with rigid project cards. The visitor should feel they are handling things discovered in a toy box: engraved stone squares, little colored doorways, hints that seem to rise from a specific portal, a moving world whose rows and columns drift even when no one touches them. When the user chooses an object, the physical grid must make room for it. The creator corrected AI's earlier floating dashboard interpretation precisely because it did not honor that spatial relationship. These choices, and the requests to preserve calm movement and to make the site itself a portfolio exhibit, are Babuni.dev's authorship.
How the implemented site grew. The source now contains a recyclable, drag-and-keyboard-navigable tiled surface, a center-first introduction, topic hints, small and big blooms, a document/media reader, and a persistent site header with About and searchable project selection. October 27 commits corrected Markdown appearing as raw symbols in imported project texts; subsequent changes used a safer tokenized Markdown renderer and carried formatting into smaller previews. The creator then asked for backdrop-click dismissal instead of the reader's visible Back button, and for the header to remain available even inside big bloom and reader. AI handled the implementation and regression tests. The most recent navigation checks found a stale buffered tile identity during direct project switching; AI changed the reservation/centering path, and the journal records its repeated browser verification rather than pretending the first attempt was correct.
Visual material and editorial ownership. Babuni.dev supplied a set of portal images converted to WebP. Earlier AI mistakenly treated local file-manager screenshots as art sources or assumed it could replace a missing binary; the creator insisted on using the real supplied pixels. The Git tree now contains 15 original project portals, an improvement over the README's stale count of 11. The 53 tile labels are intentionally provisional, while 34 mapped tiles connect to 33 public repositories. AI archived 21 available browser testing screenshots plus two supplied originals for Visual documentation, retaining older superseded appearance states as evidence. The snapshots are not creator-made new artwork or physical phone proof.
What changed in this documentation-only session. This audit did not invent a new design, edit gameplay or site runtime code, move artwork, overwrite historical decisions, change grid shift timing or run a build. It corrected README inventory/test/stack wording and added narrowly scoped evidence updates to all eleven core documents. The older 97-test clean CI milestone remains meaningful history; the newer checked-in journal reports 126 passing Node tests, a successful production build and browser tests of the persistent-header/search flow. Those are prior tests, not new results from this audit.
The quiet integration risk. This entire multi-repository documentation project aims to surface detailed human–AI development histories inside the portfolio. The current site intentionally uses revision-pinned, checked-in snapshots from external GitHub repositories so visitors aren't dependent on live GitHub calls. This design is sensible for performance, provenance and security, but creates a dependency: editing project documentation elsewhere is not enough to update a visitor's exhibit here. A future deliberate content-sync/check/test/build/commit pass must ingest the reviewed changes. Until then, the existing site continues to show the older checked-in copy for projects whose source changed. The user has not approved automatic visitor-time fetching or unreviewed live updates, and this docs audit intentionally leaves the snapshot untouched.
Tests and decisions remaining. Earlier browser evidence and source tests support current grid navigation, Markdown rendering and attached project media on the tested desktop setups, but real-phone session behavior, comprehensive keyboard/reduced-motion access, long-running grid stability and public VPS deployment still require their own signoff. Babuni.dev has also kept completion of all project biographies secondary: the workshop is meant to evolve. The next history chapter should record a real content refresh and deliberate publication process when the creator chooses to perform it, without confusing review preparation with a deployed update.
Attribution and verification boundary: Babuni.dev specified, corrected and accepted the visual/interaction direction. AI agents implemented researched structures and wrote documentation, with their errors preserved. This audit checked GitHub sources, logs and connected-document design; no independent browser session, test command, CI run, content synchronization, license decision or deployment took place. The historical journals remain intact for the portfolio.
2026-10-27 — Complete WebP publication
Babuni.dev requested: Make all images WebP after discussing publishing size. AI discovery/correction: The earlier PNG claim was based on screenshot filenames; decoder inspection found JPEG bytes inside the 23 .png files. Trial lossless WebP increased the converted set from 2,725,971 to 6,459,666 bytes, so it was rejected. Quality-85 WebP instead totals 1,865,968 bytes for the same 30 converted assets (31.5% smaller), with original dimensions retained. This is lossy conversion of existing JPEG data; no claim of pixel-identical screenshot output. SVG favicon used lossless raster conversion; unused legacy ICO was archived outside publication. Implementation: Updated media URLs and authoring/agent rules; build guard rejects non-WebP image extensions and false WebP signatures. Originals copied to the local task’s image-originals directory, outside public. Alternatives: Renaming extensions alone is invalid; shipping larger lossless derivatives undermined the requested size goal. Existing portal WebPs were not recompressed. Final verification follows below.
Verified outcome: 131 Node tests, production build and whitespace checks pass. Pillow decoded all converted assets and checked unchanged dimensions; a representative converted reader screenshot was visually inspected for readable text. Browser confirmed visible portal WebPs loaded, a WebP gallery image loaded, Next image loaded its WebP successor and the player referenced a WebP poster. New browser capture converted to WebP and archived. Build guard also caught an overlooked legacy favicon ICO, now archived and removed from publication. No new physical-phone test was performed.
2026-10-27 — Distinguish clicking from dragging; investigate desktop stutter
Babuni.dev direction: Clicking during a shift must highlight the tile without briefly stopping the animation. Actual map dragging should slow the active shift to a stop rather than freeze it abruptly. Investigate uneven motion/FPS and perceived regression; Babuni.dev clarified the strongest issue is desktop. AI findings: Pointerdown unconditionally called pauseMovement before drag detection. Rendering also replayed full shift history during selection/panning, filtered/sorted the same vacancy rows repeatedly and rewrote unchanged transforms/busy attributes. AI implementation: Start drag behavior only after the existing 9px threshold; normal clicks leave playback rate at 1. A logical playback clock integrates a 280ms linear speed ramp for drag braking/resume, preserving the 4.4-second uninterrupted shift and smooth progress. Cache source coordinates per settled history revision and compile row vacancies per footprint. Keep reader/background hard pauses and all established bloom/camera timings. Alternatives: Do not speed up shifts or alter camera duration to hide frame loss; do not claim a general GPU fix without measurements. Measurements: Added a dev-only, opt-in local rAF sampler; no network telemetry. Details and limitations in PERFORMANCE-2026-10-27.md. Final verification follows below.
Verified outcome: 136 Node regression tests, production build and whitespace checks pass. Browser held-press samples during movement showed playback rate 1, zero paused frames and advancing progress; selection waited for completion. Real drag recorded rate descending to about 0.33 with continuous progress, then recovery/completion. Cached and original mappings agree in tests. The final timing window still included one 84.9ms gap, so broader desktop smoothness remains open; before/after JSON and limitations are preserved in the performance report. New screenshot archived as WebP. No physical-phone or full GPU/main-thread trace is claimed.
2026-10-27 — Human desktop smoothness follow-up
Babuni.dev feedback: Reports that motion feels smoother after the click-pause/drag-braking/cache update (cfd4c25) and asks what is next. AI interpretation: Positive desktop feel evidence narrows the remaining investigation but does not establish universal FPS, long-session or cross-browser acceptance. Recommendation: An acceptance pass for keyboard/focus/reduced motion across the four depths and extended identity/recycling, followed by controlled release preparation; content completion remains secondary. This entry records discussion and human observation, not a new implementation or test run. Roadmap separates already-built CI checks from still-planned preview deployments.
2026-10-27 — Keyboard highlight is distinct from opening
Babuni.dev direction: Initially questioned keyboard controls on the grid, then specified a spatial model if retained: Tab marks the center tile, arrows move the highlight among neighbors/modules, Space activates, and Escape closes one bloom stage. Keyboard selection must not itself open content. AI interpretation: Replace continuous arrow panning with spatial focus, retaining the normal header controls and native Enter activation. Keep activation separate from highlight and restore focus after each depth return. Implementation: Roving grid entry, directional-neighbor helper, highlighted tile/module outline, Space/Enter explicit activation with repeat guards, stage-specific focus restoration and minimal viewport adjustment only when the highlighted item would be hidden. Native document/media controls remain native. Alternatives: Removing grid keyboard support entirely was considered in the human discussion; the specified highlight-first behavior was implemented rather than retaining free arrow panning. No pointer/shift/reveal tempo changes. Final verification below.
Verified outcome: All 140 Node tests, production build and whitespace checks pass. Real browser keyboard input verified first Tab centers highlight on BABUNI.DEV, Right/Left move between tiles with zero modules opened, Space opens small bloom, arrows highlight a module without opening, Space expands it, arrows choose another big module, Space opens its reader, then Escape returns to the same big module, restored small module and original tile. Tab reached Projects; unique search + Enter opened Button Game with eight modules and tile focus. Browser error log was empty. WebP focus screenshot archived. Extended sessions, screen-reader and other-browser acceptance remain open; no new phone test claimed.
2026-10-27 — Browser branding
Babuni.dev requested: remove the Astro menu and use only the supplied stone B graphic, without its wordmark, as a resized WebP browser icon. AI interpretation and execution: disabled the toolbar through Astro configuration rather than hiding it with CSS; used the built-in image editor for transparent B extraction, then resized to 64×64. The supplied original remains untouched; AI extraction is not asserted to be pixel-identical. Exact prompt and provenance: FAVICON_ASSET.md. No interaction timing or portal artwork changed. Tested: 140 Node tests passed, production build passed, browser DOM contained zero Astro toolbar elements and the expected favicon URL/type/size. Open: actual browser-tab chrome appearance and cached-icon refresh need human confirmation; the screenshot records page content only.
Header B mark — 2026-10-27
Babuni.dev additionally requested the B to the left of BABUNI.DEV in the persistent header, using WebP, and explicitly authorized committing, pushing, updating and restarting the local site for future changes. AI reused the transparent 64×64 favicon at 32×32 CSS pixels, with fixed dimensions and decorative empty alternative text beside the existing accessible brand name. This adds no image duplicate or interaction changes.
Header verification: reran all 140 Node tests and the production build successfully. Desktop screenshot shows the B to the left of the brand and no toolbar. Physical mobile acceptance remains a human check.
2026-10-27 — A visible position without scrollbar chrome
Babuni.dev requested: a little frameless grab-and-pull reader indicator, because long text and image collections need quicker navigation. The existing B WebP and branding screenshots are already published in 6806d1c; no logo replacement was needed. AI interpretation: retain native content scrolling and add only a floating gold thumb inside the reader; a conventional visible track or page-wide scrollbar would conflict with the request. An initial proportional thumb was visually too long for the requested little handle, so AI capped it at 96px (minimum 36px, limited by available height). This is an implementation choice, not additional human acceptance. Execution: separated the panel’s fixed shell from its native scroll content; the handle uses pointer capture, proportional travel and accessible scrollbar values, with ResizeObserver updates for fetched Markdown and image size changes. Disposal disconnects observers on reader replacement/close. Existing reader opening/closing animation and outside dismissal remain. Browser evidence: About reader thumb dragged from position 0 to 345; Home returned to 0. Archived both the superseded first preview and dragged compact handle. Open: physical-phone drag, full gallery/load edge cases and human visual acceptance remain unverified. Automated check totals are recorded below after the final run.
Final automated verification: npm run test:grid reported 29 passing test-file entries, zero failures; production build and WebP/content validation passed. No frame-rate or physical-phone result is claimed.
2026-10-27 — Human acceptance and long-session slowdown
Babuni.dev reports: the page stays open while doing other work; dragging becomes less smooth with time. Reader scrolling works well and big-bloom/grid scrolling needs no redesign. Keyboard round trip is accepted for shipping. Firefox has been tried and feels even better than Chrome. The earlier reader handle was explicitly accepted. No specific phone/device conclusion is inferred from the ambiguous spoken phrase “foundry.” AI findings: settled shifts append to an authoritative history; cache invalidation previously discarded every known source after each settlement, making rebuilding work depend on accumulated history. The cache also flushed all entries above 2,048. The placement map already prunes nonretained identities and the DOM pool is bounded, so neither is declared a leak. Implementation: retain bounded cached coordinates, compose only the new inverse moves against prior resident entries, use old history on edge misses, individually evict LRU entries, and skip vacancy mappings for empty footprints. Full history is deliberately preserved to protect infinite-grid identities; it still grows, and unseen cells can still require full replay. No shift tempo, camera timing, reader or bloom scrolling changes. Alternatives: discarding/rebasing history without preserving identities would risk visible project swaps; speeding animation would mask rather than fix the issue. Evidence: 29 test-file entries pass, direct cache tests 4/4 and shift tests 7/7 pass, production build passes. Final isolated benchmark: 1,500 seeded shifts over 120 cells, previous cache 577.36ms, retained cache 98.83ms, both checksum -185418. This uses the current vacancy-free source fast path in both variants, not the complete old renderer. Browser smoke evidence is recorded separately. Open: no hours-long Chrome/Firefox comparison, heap profile, physical-phone test or proof of eliminated FPS drops. Reduced motion remains an accessibility check; AI explained it as an OS preference, not a required user setting.
Browser smoke result: normal grid dragging worked; selecting BABUNI.DEV waited for the active shift at the existing tempo and opened eight modules. Further dragging retained the small bloom. Captured and archived as WebP. This sampled check is not long-session acceptance.
2026-10-26 — Integrating local development and the public project record
Babuni.dev direction. After creating a repository and initializing Astro locally, Babuni.dev established a simple Git workflow: all active development belongs on main. They also insisted that the project documentation and Astro implementation coexist without discarding either set of agent rules.
AI contribution. The assistant originally prepared documentation in a separate branch and then moved it directly onto main at Babuni.dev's request. When Babuni.dev fetched remote changes and merged locally, Git reported an add/add conflict in AGENTS.md. The assistant proposed retaining the custom project rules from the remote version, appending the Astro starter's local development guidance, and revising the workflow rule to use main.
Babuni.dev action and feedback. Babuni.dev followed that reconciliation, staged AGENTS.md, committed the merge, and pushed it to GitHub. Their terminal reported commit 5902121 and a successful update to origin/main.
Verification. GitHub was checked afterward: main contains both package.json and src/pages/index.astro, plus the complete merged AGENTS.md and project documentation. The local Astro starter had previously started successfully according to Babuni.dev; no new post-merge build or browser verification was performed.
Outcome. The foundation is integrated and the next development target is the grid mechanics, not a finished visual site. A subsequent documentation-only update corrected stale instructions claiming that Astro was still local-only. Remaining independent setup: confirm ChatGPT project instructions in its user interface.
2026-10-26 — Reviewing the foundation before the grid
Babuni.dev direction and source. In the current review session, Babuni.dev asked the assistant to take a critical reviewer role, become familiar with the repository's structure and text, and record its contribution in the development documentation. The request was to examine the work already present, not to begin implementing the interactive portfolio.
AI contribution. The assistant reviewed main at ea90117, including the starter, dependency lockfile, creative specification, and collaboration rules. It found a consistent separation between intended behavior and implemented software. The actual site remained a single Astro starter page. The review identified missing README setup instructions, stale framework status in D-011, and two open verification gaps: no CI workflow and no dedicated Astro type-checking tool.
Execution and evidence. The assistant added a dated review report, documented local setup, and corrected current status in the decision register and architecture baseline. A text-source snapshot installed with lifecycle scripts disabled and built successfully with npm run build, producing one static page. Manifest/lockfile consistency and relative Markdown links passed inspection. Astro's CLI help confirmed the existing background-server guidance. The checker command requested missing dependencies, so no semantic type-check result is claimed. Browser and production verification were not performed.
Historical clarification. The earlier journal entry left ChatGPT project-instruction activation open. Milestone 0 and commit ea90117 subsequently recorded it as confirmed; that earlier open item is resolved.
Outcome and open proposals. The starter has an independently observed build result, while its creative behavior remains unimplemented. The assistant recommended earlier CI and a dedicated checking command, and flagged the boundary between initial center-out appearance and interactive viewport coverage for future specification. These are AI recommendations, not newly approved Babuni.dev decisions. No application code or creative direction changed.
2026-10-26 — A centered anchor that can drift away
Babuni.dev direction and correction. Babuni.dev rejected a proposal that prioritized fitting rows and columns into the screen: the crucial visual requirement is one full tile exactly at the center, even on desktop and tablet. They approved the approximate density of a straight-down mosaic of stone tiles with no perspective. In the subsequent discussion, Babuni.dev asked for familiar map-like interaction: hold the mouse and pull, or move the grid with a thumb on mobile. When tiles leave the viewport, reuse those same loaded visual instances beyond the opposite edge to keep the field filled continuously.
AI interpretation. The assistant separated the initial screen-centered tile from a permanent fixed center. It proposed calculating neighboring cells from an integer coordinate system and translating the entire field with the pointer. A finite ring buffer reuses offscreen DOM tile elements; source project identities remain conceptually separate from those visual slots. The assistant supplied provisional 240/200/phone-relative CSS-pixel tile sizes and proposed two offscreen buffer bands.
Development. A first Astro/TypeScript prototype implements centered tiles, free pointer/touch dragging, bounded recycling, keyboard navigation, a reset control and temporary simple tile visuals. The prototype is intentionally not the final stone-tile art; row/column dice shifts and blooms have not been attempted.
Verification. Five unit tests for grid math passed locally, as did isolated Chromium checks for initial centering and pointer-drag coverage at 1920×1080, 768×1024 and 390×844. These tests used a compiled standalone preview, not a complete Astro production build. Physical mobile testing, actual production build verification and performance measurement remain open.
Result. The geometry and movement contract is represented in source, with Babuni.dev's initial-center correction preserved as a design decision rather than silently buried in code.
2026-10-26 — First hands-on desktop test: the movement feels right
Babuni.dev's verification. After pulling the first grid implementation and running npm ci, Babuni.dev reported zero dependency vulnerabilities and all five grid-math tests passing. An old Astro development server was already running, so they stopped it and restarted Astro 7.4.2. The server reported readiness and a successful HTTP 200 response for the homepage.
Experience and feedback. Babuni.dev tested the new grid personally on their 1920×1080 desktop. They confirmed that the BABUNI.DEV tile starts at the exact center, that holding and dragging with the mouse moves the field smoothly in a map-like way, and that the field remains endlessly draggable. They briefly wondered whether movement might be too fast, then concluded it felt right, calling the experience “perfect” and “cool.” This is approval of the present manual-drag feel, not a request to change the speed.
Potential refinement, not a final decision. Babuni.dev observed that the temporary “Return to center” button could probably be removed later. Keep it for testing for now; its fate is not yet decided and no change to the interface was requested.
Implementation and evidence. No application code was altered in this feedback session. The assistant recorded Babuni.dev's first desktop acceptance results in the roadmap and decision history. Physical touch interaction, multi-device coverage, browser resizing, and autonomous row/column shifting still need separate verification.
Outcome. Basic desktop panning, initial centering, and visible endlessness have passed Babuni.dev review. This provides a usable interaction baseline for subsequent shifting-grid experiments.
2026-10-26 — The first independently shifting stone lines
Babuni.dev direction. Following successful hands-on desktop tests of the endless draggable grid, Babuni.dev approved moving to the next part of Milestone 1. They wanted the grid to begin moving autonomously by rows and columns, but did not want to lose the map-like dragging experience they had already praised. Babuni.dev also asked whether the development website could be reached from their phone on the same Wi-Fi, suggesting practical mobile checks while continuing desktop-first development.
AI contribution. The assistant explained that the Astro dev server can bind to the PC's LAN interface, allowing a phone on the same Wi-Fi to visit the PC's local IP at port 4321. This is an available test workflow, not a claim that Babuni.dev has already performed it. The assistant then separated the mechanical movement rules from the visual renderer: rounds randomly select an axis; visible lines roll d20 in randomized initiative order; winning lines travel one grid cell in an independently selected direction. Timings and dice bonuses remain tunable experiments.
Implementation. A new TypeScript helper models ordered row/column shift events and preserves project identities even when horizontal and vertical operations alternate. The tile renderer animates those line movements in the existing finite pool, freezes them during mouse/touch dragging and inactive browser tabs, and resumes from the same animation progress afterward. Reduced-motion preference suppresses the autonomous movement. The temporary grid artwork and reset button remain unchanged.
Verification. The assistant passed five additional Node tests, including seeded repeatability and mixed-axis identity, alongside the original five geometry tests. A strict TypeScript check passed. Isolated Chromium previews were checked at desktop and phone-sized viewports, covering movement, frozen animation during manual dragging, no expanding DOM pool, and reduced-motion suppression. This is not yet an independently verified post-commit Astro production build or hands-on phone test.
Outcome and open questions. The autonomous system is ready for Babuni.dev's review of how it looks and feels. The precise animation cadence, movement directions, initiative bias and amount of simultaneous shifting must be accepted or refined after observation.
2026-10-26 — Restraint in movement: individual stone lines rather than marching blocks
Babuni.dev observation and correction. In the first hands-on experiments with autonomous shifting, Babuni.dev noticed that when several rows slid together in the same direction they visually fused into one large block. That felt wrong for the individually animated stone grid. They introduced a new constraint: no two rows should move the same direction at the same time. In a separate motion refinement, they asked for arrow keys to become dramatically slower and smooth, and suggested that dragging should briefly accelerate into a controllable cruising speed rather than following unlimited mouse speed.
AI interpretation and experiments. The assistant preserved the existing d20/initiative eligibility system but proposed letting the earliest successful line claim the direction for that round. It extended the rule to columns so upward/downward block formation could be avoided as well; that extrapolation was not explicitly confirmed by Babuni.dev. A separate controller was designed to replace abrupt arrow-key steps with frame-based velocity, easing toward configurable limits. Pointer-follow uses a small buffered lead, acceleration, a maximum speed and an immediate stop when the button or finger is released. Prototype values were selected for testing, not presented as locked aesthetic decisions.
Development and verification. The assistant prepared updates to src/lib/grid-controls.ts, src/scripts/grid.ts, src/lib/grid-shifts.ts and associated tests. In an isolated local test fixture, an equivalent revision passed 18 Node tests and strict TypeScript checks. Desktop and phone-sized Chromium tests exercised capped pointer speed, held-arrow velocity, autonomous shift pause/resume, finite visual pool size, and reduced-motion behavior. These isolated results do not replace a build of the newly committed Astro source or Babuni.dev's practical assessment of feel.
Visual history as a future input. Babuni.dev also planned to add screenshots and videos in a folder called Visual Documentation Material so that future documentation can show what the interface actually looked like and how it evolved. No media were provided during this implementation; the intention was recorded without inventing assets or public-use approval.
Outcome. The new movement limits are implemented as a testable iteration. Babuni.dev's judgment of the speed, acceleration, and whether the columns should obey the same restriction remains the next decision point.
2026-10-26 — A failed test reveals a blind spot in the test itself
Babuni.dev verification. Babuni.dev pulled commit e569a1f and ran npm run test:grid on Nobara Linux. Eighteen tests passed, while the new test claiming coverage of both row and column shifting failed. It expected the generated rounds to include both axes, but its observed set contained only row.
AI diagnosis. The new motion restriction was not shown to be broken. The test drove planShiftRound with the first output of a deterministic linear-congruential random generator for seeds 0 through 399. That narrow consecutive seed range always yielded a first value below 0.5, selecting the row axis. The test assumed a distribution that its chosen seeds did not provide, so it never examined column rounds.
Correction. The assistant amended the test to inject a controlled first random value that explicitly selects the axis. The remaining draws still come from the reproducible seeded generator, preserving real variation in initiative, die rolls and direction. The no-same-direction and earliest-successful-initiative assertions now run across both axes independently.
Verification and outcome. An isolated local Node test confirmed the corrected axis-selection coverage passes. Only test source and documentation were changed; no application behavior or shift rule was modified. A full test-suite run on Babuni.dev's newly pulled revision is still needed. This false alarm is recorded because it shows how inadequate test inputs can leave a critical branch untested.
2026-10-26 — Corrected movement test suite verified on Babuni.dev's PC
Babuni.dev action and verification. Babuni.dev fast-forwarded local main from e569a1f to eef55d0 and reran npm run test:grid on Nobara Linux. The terminal reported 19 tests passed, 0 failed, including separate row/column direction exclusivity and initiative priority. This confirms that the previously failing assertion has been corrected in the full local test suite.
Implementation. No application behavior changed in this verification session. The assistant recorded the observed result on main as part of the project history.
Still open. Automated test success does not establish whether Babuni.dev likes the revised mouse acceleration, arrow-key navigation, or line-shifting appearance. Those behaviors still require visual/hands-on review; mobile touch remains separately unverified.
2026-10-26 — A faster tempo for manual exploration
Babuni.dev direction. After exploring the configurable values in the GitHub control file, Babuni.dev requested double the current movement speed. They also established a practical handoff preference: after repository updates, always provide the commands to pull GitHub changes, stop the existing Astro server, and start a new one.
AI contribution and implementation. The assistant doubled mouse/touch speed from 440 to 880 CSS px/s and arrow-key speed from 130 to 260 CSS px/s. It also doubled pointer acceleration (1800 to 3600 CSS px/s²), keyboard acceleration (520 to 1040 CSS px/s²), and keyboard deceleration (700 to 1400 CSS px/s²) to maintain the previous acceleration and slowing durations. The 180 CSS px cursor-lead limit and autonomous row/column shifting were left unchanged. A regression test checks the exact new configuration.
Verification and open work. This was a targeted numerical tuning change, not a redesign of grid movement. Babuni.dev has not yet tested the faster feel in the browser; the new full Node test suite and Astro build also require a local run. The startup sequence is documented for future testing handoffs.
2026-10-26 — Doubling the tempo of manual exploration
Babuni.dev direction. After reviewing the movement configuration, Babuni.dev asked for double the current speed. They also requested a repeatable testing handoff: after pulling a change from GitHub, stop the existing Astro development server and start a new one.
AI contribution and implementation. The assistant changed the maximum mouse/touch speed from 440 to 880 CSS px/s and the held-arrow speed from 130 to 260 CSS px/s. To preserve approximately the same ramp duration, pointer acceleration increased from 1800 to 3600 CSS px/s², keyboard acceleration from 520 to 1040 CSS px/s², and keyboard deceleration from 700 to 1400 CSS px/s². The 180 CSS px pointer-lag limit and autonomous line-shift settings were deliberately unchanged. A new test asserts those exact tuning values.
Verification and open work. This is an implemented numeric tuning change; Babuni.dev has not yet tried the faster version. The updated full Node test suite and Astro application still need to be run on Babuni.dev's PC. The documentation records the full pull–stop–start handoff sequence for subsequent tests.
2026-10-26 — From tiled wallpaper to a spiral of recognizable projects
Babuni.dev observation. While exploring the prototype, Babuni.dev noticed that the visual grid behaved as an endless surface but project identity did not behave as they had imagined. The BABUNI.DEV project started in the center yet did not turn up again after roaming. Multiple other project labels recurred side by side. This did not feel like exploring a collection of objects; it felt like a random repeated wallpaper.
Babuni.dev's spatial design. Babuni.dev specified a precise clockwise progression: BABUNI.DEV in the center, PROJECT 02 above, PROJECT 03 upper-right, PROJECT 04 right, PROJECT 05 lower-right, PROJECT 06 below, PROJECT 07 lower-left, PROJECT 08 left, PROJECT 09 upper-left. PROJECT 10 starts the outer spiral above the center. Projects should not be recycled while still on-screen, and a two-tile offscreen grace band was proposed before moving an instance to the entering edge. Babuni.dev wanted all projects treated as genuine reusable content, not duplicated arbitrarily by coordinate.
AI diagnosis and question. The assistant inspected src/scripts/grid.ts and found a finite DOM recycling ring working separately from a coordinate-hash placeholder selector; the latter caused visible duplicates even when they need not exist and privileged BABUNI.DEV only at its original source coordinate. The assistant initially offered either additional distinct placeholders or neutral stone filler when there are fewer real project identities than visible tile cells, highlighting that the strict no-duplicate constraint is mathematically impossible without at least as many projects as visible cells.
Babuni.dev clarification, decisive for implementation. Babuni.dev rejected filler, even with only five projects. The full screen must remain filled; project identities should be placed one by one in a center-out spiral and then repeated as necessary. Avoid duplicates in the current visible viewport once enough originals exist to fill it. The two-cell offscreen delay remains desirable, but may have to yield when just enough distinct projects are available to avoid visible duplicates.
AI implementation. A new pure ProjectPlacement module computes a clockwise spiral index and maintains project-to-original-cell reservations across camera panning and the existing line-shift source mapping. Incoming visible cells receive unused identities preferentially; offscreen assignments are retained within two cells and reclaimed beyond the band. Repeats continue to use real project records rather than blank or neutral filler. The renderer now synchronizes project reservations at visible-cell window changes and after completed shifts. The numbered sample list is 02–13 plus BABUNI.DEV.
Verification and remaining uncertainty. Ten isolated Node tests pass for spiral order, five-project repetition, uniqueness with at least as many projects as visible cells, offscreen retention, returning within the buffer, partial tile entry at either screen edge, mobile/desktop simulated viewport movement and synthetic shift-source preservation. These tests do not yet establish full browser correctness at pan speed, slow-shift transitions, resizing, or on physical phone hardware. Babuni.dev has not reviewed the new placement visually. The earlier concept of an endless tactile grid is preserved while the meaning of reuse is brought closer to Babuni.dev's intent.
2026-10-26 — 45 original demo identities to fill a desktop view
Babuni.dev direction: Expand the temporary project set to 45 so Babuni.dev can check that the spiral fills the desktop without repeating identities when there are enough available. Babuni.dev supplied a local test run reporting 28/30 passes; all spiral tests passed and only the older manual-motion tests failed.
AI implementation: Preserve the spiral assignment algorithm and grid controls. Split placeholder identities into a small pure catalog comprising BABUNI.DEV plus PROJECT 02–45. Preserve the original twelve demo colors and generate additional sample hues. Add tests proving the catalog contains 45 different names and that the centered 1920×1080 viewport initially shows 45 different source assignments.
Test failure correction: The two previously failing control tests did not reflect Babuni.dev's subsequent doubling of speed or the 180px cursor-lead braking constraint. The assertions now check the latest requested settings, acceleration under ordinary lead, and maximum reachability under deliberately sufficient lead. No application motion values were changed.
Open: A camera offset can show more than 45 partly visible tiles; such views must still repeat. Fresh local test results and Babuni.dev visual acceptance of the 45-project layout are outstanding.
2026-10-26 — The 45-project spiral looks right; choosing the next milestone
Babuni.dev feedback. After the 45-identity demonstration was published, Babuni.dev reported that the result looked fantastic and asked whether Milestone 1 was complete or whether important steps remained before moving to the next feature. This is an explicit positive visual response to the initial spiral presentation, not proof of an exhaustive no-duplicate guarantee during prolonged panning or autonomous shifts.
AI review and recommendation. The assistant checked the current GitHub roadmap against the implementation history. The grid foundation now exists and the centered 45-project layout has received Babuni.dev approval, but several verification steps remain: running the full tests and Astro build on the latest commit, examining stable identities during autonomous line shifts, checking keyboard/reduced-motion alternatives, and eventual phone, resize and long-session performance checks. The proposed sequence is a focused desktop smoke test, followed by beginning Milestone 2 with a single reusable engraved-stone portal tile. Physical mobile testing should not block desktop-first creative development; it remains an open release requirement.
Decision status. Babuni.dev has approved the look of the current 45-project spiral. They have not yet selected or approved a specific stone art implementation in this discussion. No site code, assets or acceptance tests were changed in this documentation-only entry.
2026-10-26 — Catching a project changing its identity mid-shift
Babuni.dev observation. With the 45-project arrangement visually approved, Babuni.dev spotted an intermittent problem during slow autonomous movement. A tile arriving from the left could enter as one numbered/color-coded project and then abruptly become a different project at the end of the movement. They also suspected a related bottom-to-top edge case and noted that right-to-left entry had looked stable so far. This is Babuni.dev-supplied visual evidence, not yet independently reproduced by a browser recording.
AI investigation. The renderer shifts a row or column using CSS transforms while project assignments stay at their pre-shift source coordinates. At the end, it commits a history entry, recomputes source positions and invokes the visibility-aware allocator. Because the offscreen entering tile may already have a placeholder or recycled project identity that conflicts with the resting visible collection, that final allocation can change the arriving tile's name and portal color in a single frame. The asymmetry is credible because the identities reserved along each viewport edge need not be identical.
Implementation. Added ProjectPlacement.stageEntrances, which reserves a final identity for each incoming offscreen tile before a row or column starts moving. The renderer determines the entering source at the leading edge and the departing source at the opposite edge, stages the project allocation, and updates the still-offscreen tile before its animation begins. When there is enough identity inventory, it preserves a currently safe incoming project; otherwise it uses the identity freed by the outgoing tile. Existing visible tiles are not renamed during staging. The previously implemented source-history resolver remains responsible for which physical tile occupies each logical cell at rest.
Trade-off and verification. With exactly as many identities as resting visible cells, the beginning/end of a slow shift may briefly expose one additional partial tile, so strictly zero transient duplicates is not always mathematically possible. The stronger rule is stable identity for every moving tile, with no duplicates at rest when inventory suffices. Regression tests were added for both directions on both axes, and for opposite-moving lines. A fresh local suite and actual desktop observation are still required. Neither manual pan speeds nor the d20/timing mechanics were changed.
2026-10-26 — Recovering the larger body of work for future exhibits
Babuni.dev direction. While collecting potential babuni.dev projects, Babuni.dev challenged the first inventory for omitting major original works including Morkahja, Ethera and Analubia, as well as small game-design experiments. They directed a much deeper investigation, asked for concise descriptions ordered roughly by recent activity, then requested that the resulting collection be placed in a suitable part of the babuni.dev GitHub repository as a memory that could be useful for prototypes.
AI contribution and correction. The AI initially over-relied on current conversational summaries and underrepresented earlier game development. A broader search of available conversation files and the connected GitHub account found 38 accessible repositories and recovered documentation for numerous small addons, creative automations, a talent-design atlas, the Button Game, and the Ethera/Morkahja relationship. It reconstructed a list of 53 candidate entries, some being variants, collections, or technical experiments rather than standalone releases.
Babuni.dev decision. Preserve the collection in the repository as a reference for future prototyping. No decision was made to publish all entries as live portfolio exhibits or to declare them fully verified.
Implementation. Created PROJECT_INVENTORY.md and linked it from README.md. It records source quality, provisional ordering, relationships and verification requirements. No actual project records, portal artwork, site UI, or game code were altered.
Verification and limitations. GitHub accepted the documentation changes. The list was not cross-checked against every historical conversation, original project asset, release, or runnable application. Several older names and dates remain uncertain. This is a publication-safe summary, not a raw chat archive.
2026-10-26 — A spiral that reveals itself, rather than appearing at once
Babuni.dev direction. After approving the visual layout of 45 unique demo projects and while checking the movement mechanics, Babuni.dev observed that the entire website appears almost instantaneously. They proposed a deliberately theatrical entrance instead of an actual loading screen: BABUNI.DEV should materialize first, then numbered projects in clockwise spiral order, each growing into its allotted cell. They suggested 373 milliseconds as the animation duration for each individual tile.
AI design choice. Implement this as a purely visual entrance. No artificial network delay, loader progress, deferred content creation or additional libraries are needed. The assistant selected a provisional 68 ms interval between tile starts; at 45 projects the last one finishes around 3.37 seconds after the first. The first frame begins scaled down and invisible, grows slightly beyond final size, then settles. The visual treatment uses the existing temporary tile art and can later be re-tuned as the engraved stone design evolves. The duration comes from Babuni.dev; the stagger, growth curve and slight overshoot are assistant choices still subject to their visual review.
Implementation. A pure introSequence sorter uses the established clockwise spiral coordinate index, so the DOM pool's row-major arrangement does not change the reveal order. After the initial viewport is populated with its final project identities, only visible tile faces receive CSS animations and individual delays. The parent tile remains free for autonomous row/column transforms. The sequence happens once per page load and not whenever a tile's DOM instance is recycled. A same-size resize-observer callback no longer reconstructs the initial pool. Manual navigation, Home/reset, real resizing, and starting an autonomous shift clear any remaining entrance animations immediately. Users with reduced-motion preference see all tiles without animation, including if that preference is enabled mid-sequence.
Verification and open decisions. Tests for exact duration, stagger, clockwise ordering and 45-demo identity order were added to the repository; a full local suite and browser test are still required. Babuni.dev has not yet approved the entrance pacing, slight overshoot or the choice to cancel on interaction. The previously reported shift-boundary identity issue is a separate fix and still awaits Babuni.dev confirmation.
2026-10-26 — Fifty-three actual project names enter the spiral
Babuni.dev direction. A separate project-research session recovered a provisional list of 53 works and ideas, including small games, addons, AI tools, older fantasy projects, worldbuilding and concepts. Babuni.dev expressly approved using all 53 names for visuals, play and evaluation of the grid. BABUNI.DEV stays at the center, and the current spiral movement should remain untouched. They also emphasized that final portal artwork is not necessarily an imminent deliverable: changing decorative textures can wait, possibly indefinitely, while functional milestones are developed.
Source and boundaries. The inventory at docs/PROJECT_INVENTORY.md was collected by another assistant from varied evidence with differing confidence. The entries range from GitHub-described repositories to conversation-only concepts and name-only leads. Some are versions of other works, not separate finished products. Babuni.dev has approved prototype use, not public exhibition of these as finished project pages or validation of their status. Titles, descriptions and their initial ordering are imported provisionally, with the inventory retained as provenance rather than inventing additional facts. No private conversations, screenshots or third-party game art were imported.
AI implementation. The renderer's existing demoProjects collection now contains 53 uniquely keyed candidates, with a title, one-line summary, original evidence classification and a temporary decorative tint. The BABUNI.DEV tile remains visually uppercase and first in the spiral; Button Game comes immediately above it, then SocialForever upper-right. The one-line descriptions are stored for future information bubbles but aren't yet presented as a new interface. The existing tile face receives minor title-wrapping adjustments so long real project names do not overflow like the old short labels. The 373 ms clockwise entrance, pan, recycling and moving-row/column mechanics are unchanged. Catalog tests check the count, distinctness, representative names and summaries, and initial 45-visible-tile uniqueness.
Creative decision and open work. The colored portals remain temporary visuals and functional development takes priority over final textures; this is not a decision to abandon all future visual design. Next evaluate how real project names affect readability and whether the existing motion and entrance sequence still feel right. The full test suite, Astro build and Babuni.dev browser inspection on this commit remain open.
2026-10-26 — A tiny flavored glimpse from the top portal marker
Babuni.dev direction: The small square already situated above the circular portal should glow and produce the first information bubble. Babuni.dev specifically rejected a sales-like or paragraph-length explanation: this first bubble should give only a category, topic, or tiny piece of flavor that helps an attentive visitor sense what the project might concern. The reaction should be triggered by entering the portal area inside a tile, not by hovering anywhere over the stone. A more considered collection of descriptive keywords might eventually be curated from full project descriptions, development journals, and other source material; Babuni.dev has not settled on a permanent extraction/filtering methodology.
AI interpretation and prototype implementation: Introduced a single short, static provisional topic for each of the 53 inventory candidates. The AI selected broad, non-promotional labels from their available one-line descriptions. These are assistant-authored draft topics, not approved taxonomy or verified content. Added a glowing state to the existing top diamond/square and a minimal translucent tooltip that stays physically inside the tile. Rather than adding a wholly new hover area, the existing circular portal is now a focusable hit target. Hovering the portal shows its associated topic; keyboard focus offers an equivalent; a tap without appreciable drag can reveal or dismiss it. A genuine drag keeps controlling the grid instead of opening a bubble. At most one tile shows a bubble; the state is cleared if its visual tile is recycled, reassigned or shifted.
Implementation and accessibility: The UI exposes only on-screen portal controls to tab navigation, and assigns a spoken name containing the candidate and topic. Offscreen buffered tiles remain hidden from assistive technology. The prototype bubble does not attempt to reserve neighboring cells (that belongs to later bloom mechanics), nor does it include an automatic teaser, four info points or full descriptions yet. The current stone, colored circular portal, spiral entrance, autonomous shifts, and manual speeds remain intact.
Verification, alternatives, and openness: All 53 draft topic labels were checked against the provisional inventory list for a one-to-one mapping and bounded length; an isolated Node test was added. Full npm run test:grid, a production Astro build, and hands-on hover/touch/keyboard verification are pending. The bubble's shape, glow intensity, positioning, categories and tap persistence are implementation experiments subject to Babuni.dev feedback. No claim of final taxonomy or complete Milestone 2 is made.
2026-10-26 — Center first, then let the grid make room
Babuni.dev direction. Babuni.dev corrected the proposed selection interaction: selecting a tile anywhere must first move the whole grid until that exact project is centered. Only then should a neighbor move to make room for a partial bloom. They also revived an earlier idea of spontaneous, subtle topic bubbles appearing occasionally at existing glowing portal markers.
AI implementation. A first-stage eased camera move (provisional 720 ms) targets the source cell's exact viewport center. The choice holds both original logical coordinates and project identity, not a DOM slot, and the allocator gives it priority while panning/recycling. Next, the contiguous half-row to its right is translated one cell (provisional 520 ms), creating an actually empty neighboring square rather than drawing a popover over an occupied tile. The first module displays the existing one-line project summary. The portal keeps its small topic-only interaction, separate from stone selection. Escape, a Close button, or clicking the selected stone collapses the bloom.
Motion trade-off. Active autonomous shifts finish before centering. New shifts and manual pan are suspended during this first bloom prototype to protect reserved cells; later collision-safe slower motion remains a design goal. The assistant chose the right-hand side, durations, one-module content and temporary focus-mode movement rules; Babuni.dev has not yet approved those details.
Ambient flavor. At randomized 6.5–10.5 s intervals, an idle grid can reveal one existing tiny topic bubble for 1.7 s. This is one at a time and does not interrupt active hover/focus/tap, dragging, shifting, selected projects, the entrance sequence, hidden tabs or reduced-motion use. The intervals and duration are assistant experiments, not fixed creative canon.
Verification. Pure helper tests for exact recentering, non-overlapping row displacement and hint cadence have been authored, along with a selected-identity regression test. Browser behavior and the full suite still need running. No new external dependencies or finished stone/portal assets were introduced.
The implementation additionally limits focus suppression to keyboard-visible focus rather than stale mouse/touch focus: clicking a portal can leave the browser's activeElement on its button even after the visitor stops interacting. This distinction is relevant to the creator's observation that tapping away and back seemed to change whether hints appeared.
2026-10-26 — Ambient hints that can actually be noticed
Creator feedback. The creator found the center-first project selection and neighboring-cell bloom smooth, pretty and deliberate. They did not reliably see the spontaneous little topic hints: sometimes nothing appeared for a long time, occasionally one was near a corner, and tapping away/back seemed to change whether hints resumed. They suggested a hint around every five seconds, on a genuinely onscreen tile.
AI diagnosis. The prior 6.5–10.5-second attempt was silently skipped during a 4.4-second row/column shift, followed by another full random delay. Repeated shifts could therefore create large gaps. Eligible tiles included partly visible fragments at screen edges. Passive focus on the viewport, or stale browser focus on a portal button following mouse/touch input, could also block hints without ongoing user activity.
AI change. The due timestamp now advances five seconds after a successful teaser; a blocked or empty-candidate attempt retries after 600 milliseconds without restarting the five-second wait. Candidate tiles must fit fully within the actual transformed viewport, with additional clearance from corners and the header and footer controls. A project-control focus blocks only when keyboard-visible; the viewport itself does not suppress passive viewing. The preceding project's identity is excluded when another suitable tile exists. One tiny topic stays visible 1.7 seconds at most; selection, bloom, manual interaction, line shifting, hidden tabs and reduced-motion settings still take priority.
Verification. Focused tests were updated for cadence, busy retries, desktop edge rejection and phone geometry. Full local suite, production build, and creator visual confirmation of the revised hints remain pending. The existing center-and-bloom animations were not changed.
2026-10-26 — A selected project does not stop the living world
Babuni.dev direction. After accepting the center-first bloom and the improved spontaneous topic hints, Babuni.dev noticed that selecting any project froze all autonomous motion. This broke the intended independence of the living grid. They also described how a selection made during a shift should behave: the click should immediately mark the tile golden, even if it must wait for its own moving row or column to finish. A tile unaffected by a different shifting line should instead proceed with centering immediately while that irrelevant shift pauses, just like map dragging. When switching from one open project to another, the old bloom must close and return its neighbors before the camera moves to the new project. Their central principle was visitor control without sacrificing safe movement in the rest of the grid.
AI inspection. The prototype's shift scheduler returned without rescheduling when a selection was active. Every click during a moving state was also queued indiscriminately, regardless of which line the selected tile occupied. The pending choice had no golden highlight until it became an active selection. Bloom CSS transitions were attached broadly to every tile, which could make independent shifts lag.
Design iteration. The assistant first considered protecting the selected row plus the entire right-hand translated run, which would have needlessly disabled most columns to the right. That conservative approach was not adopted as the final change. A better solution maps the vertical movement of a column through the displaced row: while entering the translated row, a tile gradually gains a one-cell sideways offset; while leaving, it sheds the offset. The endpoints match the established bloom geometry. This permits other columns on both sides to shift, excluding the selected column and its immediately adjacent module column. The selected row remains protected. These exact protected-line and interpolation rules are provisional AI implementation choices, not explicit creator specifications.
Implementation. A small pure selection-arbitration helper distinguishes a moving selected row/column or the right-adjacent reservation column from an unrelated shift. Affected clicks mark the original project source golden immediately and wait for that current shift's ShiftEvent to finish before centering. Unaffected clicks temporarily pause the ongoing motion, center the selected source, open the module, then resume the shift. Autonomous dice rounds continue scheduling around an open bloom, filtering only the protected lines. A new click during an open bloom first collapses the old neighboring row (520 ms); the new destination is already golden during that transition, and only then begins the next center-and-bloom sequence. Requests during a closing transition update the queued destination.
Visual and safety details. paintMovement composes column shifts with a reversible sideways bloom offset when traversing the displaced row, rather than letting the right side snap to a new x-coordinate on completion. Bloom-specific CSS transitions are limited to displaced or returning tiles; an active line shift does not inherit those short easing rules. Portal topic bubbles, project summaries, keyboard Escape, reduced-motion accommodations and the existing 53 source records remain in place.
Verification and open questions. Static tests check arbitration, protected lines, far-right column permissions and matching incoming/outgoing horizontal offsets at both motion endpoints. The current implementation has not yet been run through the full local Node/Astro suite or confirmed in a browser with simultaneous shifts, project switching or touchscreen gestures. Future collision handling for multi-module blooms and complex overlapping reservations remains open. This entry distinguishes confirmed creator direction from the assistant's implementation choices and does not claim final acceptance.
Follow-up correction within the same implementation: A paused vertical shift can still hold a sideways bloom offset when the visitor closes or switches projects. The close animation now pauses that background movement, returns the affected tiles to their ordinary column positions over the bloom-closing duration while keeping their vertical progress, and then either resumes the shift or starts the next requested selection. This is implemented but awaits browser verification.
2026-10-26 — Three small lights, and life around a bloom
Babuni.dev's direction. After seeing the more reliable ambient hints and the small bloom, Babuni.dev approved the experience but noticed that hints stopped once any project bloomed. They wanted the same subtle information sparks to keep appearing on the surrounding grid, even while studying an open small bloom. They also proposed placing another tiny glowing square to the left of the circular portal and another to its right, joining the original square above: three little bubbles on each tile. This revises the original four-point sketch. The intent remains experiential flavor rather than selling or packing paragraphs into the grid. Babuni.dev also asked to see the next roadmap entries after the change.
AI implementation choices. The assistant retained the existing top topic/category and hand-curated two additional, very short, provisional snippets for each of the 53 inventoried candidate projects, using their repository inventory's one-line descriptions as the available evidence. For example, Button Game has the draft labels “Reaction game”, “Android game” and “Local multiplayer”. Unknown historical or name-only projects get explicitly exploratory labels rather than invented achievements. These new labels are proposed editorial copy, not independently verified project metadata or approved final descriptions.
Interaction refinement. Hovering, focusing or tapping the portal region reveals all three small markers and labels inside that same tile; the rest of the stone remains the selection target. The visual layout uses the previously approved top marker plus two new square markers alongside the portal. For spontaneous hints, only one marker on one tile lights at a time, with the point changing between successive appearances to let different details emerge over time. Ambient hints no longer treat the open small bloom itself as a blocking state: after its entrance completes, the same approximate five-second scheduler may reveal a topic on another fully visible tile. The selected project, bloom's reserved row, actively moving row/column tiles, active focus/navigation, opening/closing transitions, hidden tabs and reduced-motion preferences are excluded from unsolicited activation. Autonomous shifting and centering algorithms remain unchanged.
Concept change and provenance. The original reference described four contextual lights. The three-point arrangement is Babuni.dev's later explicit direction. The concept, active roadmap and design specification are revised while the superseded four-point proposal remains visible in the decision record; this preserves the real history of the design rather than retroactively attributing three lights to the original concept. A fourth point is not required for the current prototype, though future exploration remains possible.
Verification and open questions. Pure tests were authored for the 53 three-point mappings, brevity and nonrepetition of ambient marker selection. The GitHub commit records the implementation; the complete local Node suite, Astro build, actual desktop appearance, touch layout and reduced-motion checks have not yet been independently run. The creator's visual approval is for the prior single-point system and recent bloom behavior, not yet the three-point arrangement.
2026-10-26 — Straight columns through an open bloom
Context and source: Current explicit implementation request and bounded retrieved babunidev1 conversation; repository main, CONCEPT, DESIGN, ARCHITECTURE, CONTENT, ROADMAP and collaboration policy. No claim to the complete private project history.
Babuni.dev requested: Fix observed diagonal zigzag/overlaps when right-side columns crossed a displaced bloom row. Keep calm straight plate motion based on actual occupancy; finish expansion conflicts first; allow immediate dragging while gently closing; preserve hover topics through unrelated shifts; align each bubble bottom-left with its square top; add a physically reserved module below the project and preserve future 3×3 possibilities.
AI contribution: Found the explicit bloomShiftFraction sideways interpolation. Replaced it with shared reversible vacancy geometry and visual-space shift history; expanded conflicts to both entire displaced runs. Added below metadata module using existing topics/evidence after checking concept candidates. Removed global topic dismissal on shift starts and pool-window changes (actual reassignment still clears stale topics). Enabled pointer-threshold drag and arrow close/navigation. Updated source, tests, and seven development documents.
Alternatives and decision: Babuni.dev rejected the observed zigzag and requested actual occupied columns. AI chose row insertion for both vacancies instead of diagonal detours, globally blocking right-side columns, or combining horizontal and downward displacement. AI chose provisional metadata content, not claimed human approval. Active straight shifts finish in a shortened ~520 ms interval before collapse to avoid changing geometry mid-event; dragging proceeds immediately. Final timing/content acceptance remains open.
Verification: npm run test:grid passes all nine test files; npm run build passes. An initial stale assertion expected only one displaced row and failed; updated it for the requested lower vacancy and reran successfully. New geometry tests cover unique occupied cells, both-direction visual-column identity at commit, expanded conflict checks, and a 3×3 vacancy mapping. Initial sandbox background preview failed to become ready; existing port 4321 was an older preview and was not used as evidence for this change. Started this checkout on 4322 and checked a 620×652 browser: right summary and lower notes occupied cleared cells; dragging visibly panned and subsequently removed both modules.
Open: No exhaustive browser trajectory instrumentation, sustained recycling/uniqueness run, physical phone/tablet test, or complete keyboard/reduced-motion verification. Exact bubble typography/alignment and repeated unrelated-shift hover persistence await visual acceptance. Full 3×3 bloom remains planned; only its geometry primitive is covered here. No production deployment performed.
2026-10-26 — Babuni.dev releases bubbles from tile bounds
Context/source: Current feedback following commit 0e6b5fa. Babuni.dev requested/decided: It is fine for bubbles to extend across the grid; let the right bubble overlap the next tile, anchor the left by its bottom-right corner to spread left, and let the top spread upward. This explicitly revises previous containment guidance. AI contribution: Updated CSS in src/pages/index.astro: content-sized bubbles with matching typography, left/right corner origins, centered upward top bubble, and raised topic-tile stacking. Updated CONCEPT and development documentation. Alternatives: Tile containment and narrower right text were discarded in response to the human correction; top centering and the 230 px / 70vw reading-width limit are AI aesthetic choices awaiting acceptance. Tested: npm run build and npm run test:grid pass (nine test files). Existing local preview on port 4322 at 1280×720 showed three open BABUNI.DEV topics; left/right extended across neighboring tiles and remained visible above their faces. Screenshot saved outside the repo as topic-wings-preview.png. No new automated tests for this CSS-only refinement. Open: Real phone checks, screen-edge clipping and final aesthetic approval. No deployment.
2026-10-26 — Organic topic reveal
Source/Babuni.dev requested: Current feedback: choose a random first bubble, then reveal the remaining two in succession. AI contribution: Added topicRevealPlan, cumulative token-based visibility and cancellable reveal timers in grid.ts; replaced simultaneous CSS selectors. Duplicate events preserve the current sequence. AI chose 260–420 ms gaps and cumulative retention; these are interpretations awaiting feel/acceptance, not quoted human requirements. Alternatives: Simultaneous and fixed-order reveals fail the revised request; replacing previous bubbles was considered but cumulative wings were chosen. Changed: project-topics.ts, grid.ts, index.astro, topic tests and development docs. Tested: npm run test:grid passes nine files; npm run build passes. New deterministic coverage exercises all six permutations, each point once, immediate first reveal and bounded increasing delays. Open: Browser timing and cancellation checks, touch and final pacing approval; no deployment.
2026-10-26 — A single portal size and three equally spaced diamonds
Babuni.dev direction. Babuni.dev noticed that project portals were inconsistent in diameter and occasionally touched or covered the glowing information-point squares. They specifically requested that all portals become one shared size, approximately halfway between the existing large and small examples, and that the three little indicators be moved farther toward the inner frame. The left and right markers should have the same distance from the portal's middle as the top marker, preserving the symmetry of a truly square stone tile. Babuni.dev also corrected an earlier AI schematic which accidentally depicted the tile as a rectangle. They explicitly asked this developer in the current cloud chat to make the GitHub change and commit it, even while another development session worked on separate bloom and shifting tasks.
AI diagnosis. The live CSS assigned 59% width to ordinary portals and 53% to long-title portals. Markers were positioned relative to the tile face with unrelated vertical and horizontal offsets, while title text remained in the flex layout. Consequently, marker spacing could vary with title length as well as portal size. An earlier rectangular illustration was not a reliable representation of the actual square tile.
AI implementation choices. Use a provisional 56%-wide circular portal on every project, without an exception for long titles. Place the portal cluster's center at 50% horizontally and 45% vertically to leave room for the engraved title below. The title remains separately laid out at the bottom; long titles keep responsive typography rather than shrinking the portal. The top, left and right diamonds are now children of the same square portal container and share a six-percent-of-tile radial clearance beyond its circumference. Each square has a fixed seven-pixel box, and its text wing is positioned from that square's top edge. The inset and center-height measurements are AI engineering/aesthetic defaults still subject to visual review.
Alternative considered. Merely changing the old 59%/53% widths to 56% would have left the three markers referenced to differing tile positions and preserved unpredictable spacing. A local portal coordinate system was chosen instead. No new portal artwork, colors, textures, media, or redesign of the square tile was introduced.
Files and verification. Updated src/scripts/grid.ts only to group the existing portal/markers/wings (retaining semantic controls and event delegation), and src/pages/index.astro for consistent portal, marker, title and bubble geometry; added tests/portal-layout.test.mjs for structural and numerical width/radius checks. The layout still needs a fresh npm run test:grid, npm run build, browser screenshot and especially physical phone and long-title inspection. No deployment, interaction approval, or verified browser result is claimed.
2026-10-26 — Babuni.dev rejects accelerated shift completion
Context/source: Current explicit feedback, following 0e6b5fa and later topic refinements. Babuni.dev requested/decided: Shift speed is part of the accepted calm feel. Clicking/selecting must wait for normal shift completion before opening. AI should ask before changing established timing, positioning or other approved behavior. Babuni.dev also reported a right-side downward shift with an upward-looking glitch and authorized fading tiles/content as an alternative if displacement remained unreliable.
AI acknowledgement and contribution: The agent had introduced ~520 ms remaining-shift completion without asking. It removed that override and made all selections wait through the original 4400 ms shift clock. Gold highlighting remains immediate. AGENTS.md now records the human's standing ask-before-changing instruction.
Investigation: The visual occupancy mapping commits source identities into resting slots, but CSS still enabled a bloom transform transition whenever the bloom was open and not actively marked autoshifting. At commit, re-enabling that transition could animate a slot's reset transform back upward. AI scoped transitions to a dedicated opening phase and the existing closing phase; steady bloom and shift commits have no transform transition. Also corrected project visibility checks to use displaced visual cells.
Alternatives/decision: Fade substitution is explicitly authorized by Babuni.dev, not rejected. AI retained physical displacement because a specific CSS lifecycle fault was found; full bloom is not implemented and cannot be claimed reliable from small-bloom evidence. No further timing or position retuning was introduced.
Changed artifacts: grid.ts, index.astro, grid-focus.ts, grid-shifts.ts, focus/geometry regression tests, AGENTS and seven development documents. Tested: npm run test:grid passes nine test files; npm run build passes. Expanded tests simulate eight successive rounds of opposite vertical shifts, fixed visual x, no shared trajectory positions, and source identity at every endpoint. Selection tests now cover waiting for unrelated active lines.
Browser evidence: Local port 4322, desktop 1280×720. A selection caught during an active shift displayed the waiting message; centering began ~4502 ms after observed shift start (includes tool overhead, not a precision timing benchmark). A sampled vertical up/down round around an open bloom had zero overlapping visible tile rectangles and 0s tile transition durations. The subsequent resting bloom also had 0s durations; screenshot saved outside the repository as calm-bloom-preview.png. An initial short selector wait missed a shift; later bounded waits caught it. Browser animation enumeration was unavailable, so computed style and geometric snapshots were used instead.
Open: No exhaustive per-frame trajectory capture, sustained phone/tablet run, long-session identity stress test, or full-bloom implementation/verification. User visual acceptance remains necessary; sampled checks cannot guarantee every future layout. No production deployment.
Integration verification: Publishing first met a newer remote main commit, fbc923d, containing Babuni.dev-directed portal symmetry work from another session. Rebased this unpublished fix onto it, retaining both sets of documentation entries and its portal markup/styles/tests. The integrated suite passes ten test files and the production build passes. The older development server exposed intermediate styles during integration; a fresh server on port 4323 confirmed the integrated portal layout and two modules, with 0s tile transition durations during movement and after completion. The final screenshot replaces the earlier preview at calm-bloom-preview.png. No other session’s positioning was retuned.
2026-10-26 — Human acceptance, waiting signal and supplied portal logo
Context/source: Current conversation and Babuni.dev’s explicitly supplied local asset. Babuni.dev observed: Right-side shifting in both directions now looked smooth. Dragging closed the bloom, reopening and surrounding motion felt natural, and selecting moving tiles or closing waited correctly. This is the human’s desktop acceptance feedback, not a claim of exhaustive testing.
Babuni.dev requested: Signal queued actions with a pulse while the shift finishes. Replace the BABUNI.DEV colored portal with their own supplied PNG, showing the square artwork through a circular opening. Babuni.dev supplied the exact file location after the new folder was not initially visible in this checkout.
AI contribution: Added .grid-tile--waiting and per-control busy state from existing selection/close queues. The gold outline’s opacity pulses over an AI-chosen 1600 ms cycle; the tile’s position, scale, shift clock and existing movement behavior are untouched. Reduced-motion CSS leaves a steady outline. Inspected and copied PortalContentBabuniDev.png unchanged into public portal assets, rendered only for semantic ID babuni-dev, with circular overflow clipping and a rim above the image. Reassignment clears previous portal children to prevent artwork leaking to another project.
Alternatives/attribution: AI chose an opacity-only outline rather than scaling a moving tile, preserving the approved geometry. PNG is retained rather than converting to JPEG or permanently cropping the source; the supplied 1254×1254 square remains intact. The agent did not create or redraw the logo. The new pulse is directly requested; its precise cadence still awaits Babuni.dev’s feel feedback.
Changed artifacts: grid.ts, index.astro, public/portal-content/PortalContentBabuniDev.png, CHANGELOG, DESIGN, ARCHITECTURE, CONTENT, DECISIONS and ROADMAP. Tested: npm run test:grid passes ten files; npm run build passes. SHA-256 comparison confirms the source and served PNG are byte-identical. Local desktop browser at 1280×720 verified loaded 1254px artwork, cover fit, hidden overflow and 50% radius. A queued opening exposed exactly one busy waiting tile with selection-wait, 1.6s duration and no pseudo-element transform; after opening, waiting/busy counts returned to zero. Artwork elements were associated only with babuni-dev. A queued close during a live column shift also showed one busy waiting tile. An initial bounded wait missed an active round; restarting the page caught the state. Final preview saved outside the repository as portal-logo-preview.png.
Open: No physical phone/tablet run, reduced-motion browser override, sustained recycling stress run or asset bandwidth benchmark. Existing reduced-motion CSS disables animations, but its visual acceptance remains unverified. No additional unit tests for these reversible presentation changes; existing suite plus direct browser state checks provide verification. No production deployment.
2026-10-26 — Babuni.dev unifies the tile hit target
Source/Babuni.dev requested: Current direction: the entire tile should reveal bubbles and select the project; the portal should not be a separate button. The goal is easier, consistent interaction. AI contribution: Retained the full-face selection button, raised it above the decorative portal cluster and converted the portal button to an aria-hidden div. Moved topic hover/focus delegation to the shared tile control, guarded internal pointer changes, combined project/topics in its accessible label and removed portal-only touch-toggle bookkeeping. Border hits resolve through the enclosing tile.
Alternatives/decision: Two controls or nested buttons would preserve the distinction Babuni.dev explicitly removed. AI used one overlay button rather than rebuilding the entire tile markup; this keeps the existing layout and image mask intact. Touch now selects directly instead of toggling topics separately. Existing drag threshold, normal-tempo shifts, waiting pulse and topic stagger are unchanged.
Changed artifacts: grid.ts, index.astro, tests/portal-layout.test.mjs, CONCEPT, CHANGELOG and development documents. Tested: npm run test:grid passes ten files, including a new one-button/decorative-portal invariant; npm run build passes. Desktop 1280×720 preview on port 4323 reports exactly one button in every rendered tile and zero portal buttons. Keyboard focus on a tile triggered its randomized topic sequence. Clicking directly at the portal center selected BABUNI.DEV and displayed its normal shift-wait message. Dragging from that portal area moved the camera; the bloom then closed after the running shift, with no subsequent unwanted selection. Preview saved outside the repository as unified-tile-preview.png. Hover delegation was inspected in source; a separate stationary-mouse hover trial was not performed.
Open: Physical touch, complete keyboard navigation and final hover acceptance remain unverified. No deployment.
2026-10-26 — Browse mobile topics at center; carry the bloom along
Source/Babuni.dev requested: Current message: show the bubbles on the tile occupying the phone screen center while browsing; avoid long tap or other extra discovery gesture. Babuni.dev likes the existing mobile appearance even though sizing is not optimized. They explicitly reversed drag-to-close and asked to keep open blooms while moving the grid, improving readability and control. Selecting another project should retain normal close-first switching.
AI contribution: Added capability-based mobile mode, shared rendered-cell positioning and center hit testing. Existing shuffled topics persist while their tile owns center; another center tile takes over, and mobile drag CSS no longer hides them. Ambient hints do not compete. Preserved open bloom elements while panning; stored the bloom anchor separately from DOM slots and retained its semantic source outside the normal pool retention band. No tile-size, movement-speed, shift-duration or reveal-timing changes.
Alternatives/decisions: Long press and separate tap discovery were rejected by Babuni.dev’s direction. AI used coarse/no-hover capability rather than a width-only mobile approximation. The center must be physically covered by a tile; center over a module vacancy selects no substitute. The earlier human drag-to-close rule is now explicitly superseded by the human’s newer request. Explicit closure and switching remain. Resize/reset retain prior behavior, and dragging during unfinished pre-bloom centering still cancels that transition.
Changed artifacts: grid.ts, index.astro, bloom-geometry.ts, project-placement.ts, geometry/placement tests, CONCEPT and seven development documents. Tested: npm run test:grid passes ten files; npm run build passes. Added center ownership tests for shared boundaries, panning/displacement, vacancy and mid-shift positions; identity tests pan to distant positive/negative windows, return and then release the pin.
Browser evidence: Desktop 1280×720 preview: dragging changed the camera transform while preserving both FlourishForever modules. A five-second keyboard pan recycled the selected DOM tile, yet both modules remained; after refocusing the viewport and panning back, the same FlourishForever selection returned. Keyboard focus was lost when its old tile left view, an existing focus-continuity limitation still open.
For mobile-path verification, copied the built site to a temporary directory outside the repository, injecting a fixture-only mock for the coarse/no-hover query. At 390×844, the actual rendered tile under center and the topic owner matched; ownership moved from BABUNI.DEV to Local Prompt Lab after panning, with exactly one topic tile. Selecting Local AI Workstation and dragging preserved both bloom modules while center discovery remained active. Screenshots saved outside the repository as mobile-center-topics-preview.png and mobile-persistent-bloom-preview.png. The fixture used mouse input and mocked capability detection, not native device emulation. The browser viewport was restored. No test override or fixture code is included in the site.
Open: Physical touch gestures, orientation handling, real-device media detection and full mobile readability still need Babuni.dev acceptance. No production deployment.
2026-10-26 — Real phone evidence and a module-first full-bloom discussion
Source/Babuni.dev direction: Current feedback clarifies that whenever they describe mobile behavior, they have tested on their actual phone. They consider present bloom functionality good and readability acceptable at this stage; prioritize architecture and underlying structures over polish. Move toward full bloom after collaboratively specifying modules. They also requested no topic bubbles on the open bloom’s own tile, while all other tiles remain normal.
AI contribution: Explained orientation as portrait/landscape rotation and viewport resizing as available page-dimension changes, distinct from the site’s own zoom. Implemented a common topic guard against the physical bloom anchor and cleared already-open anchor hints when the bloom opens. This preserves surrounding hints, duplicate project copies and pending destination behavior. No polish, motion retuning or full-bloom renderer was added.
Proposal/alternatives: CONTENT now contains an explicitly unapproved AI draft: text/document, image collection, media, development history and resources. Shared module IDs/title/preview/content references/provenance, optional ordered project lists, reusable detail viewers and separation from layout are proposed. Bespoke components for every document label and mandatory fixed module sets were considered; the draft favors reuse. Babuni.dev has not approved these exact family boundaries or layout.
Changed artifacts: grid.ts, AGENTS, CHANGELOG and six development documents. Tested: npm run test:grid passes ten test files; npm run build passes. Desktop 1280×720 browser opened BABUNI.DEV, focused Local Prompt Lab and observed its topic; focusing the open BABUNI.DEV tile then produced zero topic-open elements while both bloom modules remained. Screenshot saved outside the repository as open-bloom-no-topics-preview.png. The shared guard covers mobile center entry in code; no new native touch trial was performed by the agent. No new unit tests for this small presentation guard; existing suite and browser state checks were used.
Correction to verification framing: Prior mocked mobile browser checks are agent evidence, not proof of native gestures. Babuni.dev’s actual phone observations are separate valid human verification and must not be described as absent. This does not invent automated native-device coverage or claim every future change has already passed on the phone. Open: Module proposal refinement/approval and implementation of full bloom; tracked polish is deferred. No deployment.
2026-10-26 — Real content enters the small-bloom module layer
Source/Babuni.dev direction: Current request confirms the bubble fix and satisfactory actual-phone orientation behavior. Build small-bloom previews first, with real images/video, a full BABUNI.DEV set and five populated Button Game modules; leave unused definitions empty. Reveal randomly one by one, show at most nine, and randomly sample populated modules when the catalog is larger. Small previews lead toward a later full-page selected-module experience. Babuni.dev considered split panes and larger scrolling modules aloud; the final composition was not settled.
AI contribution and sources: Inspected the existing concept/design/content record, supplied local visual-documentation files, and Button Game’s public README, CONCEPT, curated journal and architecture. Created a typed catalog/provider/renderer with stable per-project module IDs, actual document bodies, image collections, native-video/allowlisted external embed support and resources. BABUNI.DEV has twelve populated definitions; Button Game has five grounded summaries/resources and four empty definitions. The agent did not infer release verification from source claims or invent Button Game media.
Media: Reviewed first/middle/last frames of five supplied moduleContentVideo recordings. Four short portfolio clips were exported with browser chrome cropped and 960px H.264 encoding; no original files were changed. Posters accompany the approximately 5.6 MiB derivatives. The 26-minute mixed recording was excluded rather than publishing its full unrelated footage. Two supplied JPG screenshots were copied unchanged. MODULE_AUTHORING explains where to add media and that the website host serves assets versioned in GitHub.
Geometry/alternatives: AI interpreted the limit as nine preview modules plus the project tile, keeping its original center. Eight immediate neighbors plus an extra right-adjacent cell provide nine vacancies; the original right/below slots remain first for sparse previews. Vacancies carry their origin column so horizontal expansion splits left/right without moving the anchor; shift history stores that geometry. Clear all selected cells before sequential reveal, rather than retargeting displacement for each appearance. Empty slots consume no vacancy. Existing calm shift clock, map controls and bubble behavior remain intact. New module fades reuse the existing topic stagger interval.
Changed artifacts: project-modules.ts, project-content.ts, module-preview.ts, project JSON, generalized bloom geometry/focus filtering, grid.ts, preview CSS, selected public media, module tests and development/authoring docs. Tests/build: npm run test:grid passes eleven test files; npm run build passes. New tests verify content counts and asset/document references, empty filtering, unique capped selections and varied subsets, reveal bounds, embed URL validation, anchor stability, vacancy inversion and collision-free expansion for one through nine cells, plus vertical endpoints. Older geometry tests remain passing.
Browser: Local desktop 1280×720 on 4324: nine BABUNI.DEV previews were reserved with one first visible, followed by all nine. The anchor remained at (520,240), 240px square; measured panel/tile overlaps were zero after opening. Native video began playing only after pressing Play (other videos remained paused; preload attributes were none). Gallery Next changed its image without closing the bloom. Switching yielded exactly five Button Game IDs. Reopening BABUNI.DEV produced a different nine-item set; switching away while only one was visible cancelled the unfinished sequence and left exactly Button Game’s five. Screenshot saved outside the repo as module-previews.png.
Limits/next: This stage is content previews with media controls, not a full-page expanded text/gallery viewer. Text bodies/source provenance are carried in the data for that next layer. Some previews extend off small screens or behind persistent controls and can be reached by panning/scrolling; no viewport-fit polish was attempted. Native-phone acceptance of these new modules, extended shift/recycling stress, exact narrative/video caption review and live external-provider playback remain open. Four source clips were sampled, not exhaustively audited frame by frame. No production deployment.
2026-10-26 — Button Game portal artwork
Babuni.dev requested: Supplied the Button Game logo in the advised portal-content folder and showed its location. AI implemented: Copied the PNG unchanged and connected it through an optional project catalog artwork URL, also migrating the existing BABUNI.DEV URL to that field. Alternatives: Kept explicit assignment rather than automatic filename discovery, to avoid accidentally publishing unassigned assets. Verification: See checks below; existing portal mask, dimensions and interaction timing are retained. Logo supply is attributed to Babuni.dev; no claim about its original production method is made.
Tested: All 11 test files pass (npm run test:grid); npm run build and git diff --check pass. Supplied PNG inspected directly and copied byte-for-byte. Open: Browser preview connection failed with transport closed before response; the rendered circular crop has not been visually verified in this change. No new phone test claimed.
2026-10-26 — Eight modules around the center
Babuni.dev corrected: Eight surrounding modules are intended; the center project is the ninth cell of the square. The supplied screenshot exposed the extra right-hand preview. AI implemented: Reduced the selection cap to eight and removed the ninth offset. The previous AI interpretation of nine previews plus an anchor is superseded. Alternatives/decision: Follow the human correction directly; retain catalogs larger than eight, random selection, sequential reveal, and established timing. Verification: Updated sampling, reveal and geometry tests, including an exact eight-neighbor footprint assertion; results below.
Tested: All 11 test files, production build and diff whitespace check pass. Exact eight-neighbor coverage and selection count are verified automatically. Open: Browser visual verification remains unavailable following the preview connection failure in this session; no new phone verification claimed.
2026-10-26 — Draggable big bloom and module detail
Context/source: Current project discussion. Babuni.dev requested/confirmed: Four depths: small preview → draggable big-bloom intro focused on the chosen module → another Read more for full-page detail. Put Read more bottom right; move the project portal to top left in big bloom; its action returns to centered small bloom, whose center tile then closes. Reveal all populated big-bloom modules progressively in random order. Group all project videos into one module. Keep mouse/finger pulling navigation, with conventional scrolling for long text. Pull and restart the local checkout after implementation.
AI contribution: Separate big-bloom camera and native modal detail layer, retained underlying small-bloom instance, shuffled collision-free card slots around a selected center, deliberate media playback, basic safe document formatting, and a project Videos collection. AI reused the established 720 ms centering duration for portal travel and 260–420 ms reveal intervals. Existing grid shift durations and positioning remain unchanged.
Alternatives/decision: The earlier center-tile-to-full-bloom and direct full-bloom-to-grid plan is superseded by the human-confirmed module-entry and one-level back flow. Fixed split panes and a page of normally scrolling intro cards were not chosen; dragging navigates the intro field, normal scrolling handles detail. Big-bloom entry waits out active shifts, then suspends hidden grid activity instead of changing its tempo. Stable layout is randomized only per entry, not during reading. All populated modules are available in big bloom, independent of the small bloom’s random eight.
Media clarification: Existing MP4s are versioned in the repository and served by the website host. Babuni.dev has no YouTube links yet and explicitly deferred that migration. No upload or automatic external streaming change occurred; the collection supports explicit embed records when URLs become available.
Changed artifacts: big-bloom layout/controller, document reader, preview renderer, grid integration/styles, shared media contract and catalog, tests, concept and related documentation. Verification: Detailed results recorded below. Open: Native phone acceptance of this new layer, cross-browser fullscreen behavior, complete Markdown fidelity and long-session acceptance.
Tested/outcome: All 12 test files pass, including new seeded layouts with 27 populated modules (uncapped full collection, selected identity centered, unique cells and stable seeded order), plus grouped video asset checks. Production build and whitespace checks pass. After consolidation, the selection test was adjusted for the nine-definition catalog and a broader seeded range; its earlier subset-diversity expectation failed before this correction.
Desktop browser evidence: eight small previews; entry initially showing the selected intro before remaining reveals; nine populated BABUNI.DEV big cards and five Button Game cards; selected-card centering; background/card dragging without accidental detail; explicit detail activation after dragging; all four video players, deliberate playback advancing time and stopped playback on return; same camera transform on return; full journal (over 88,000 text characters at this checkpoint) with headings and normal scroll; both gallery images loaded. A live autonomous shift was observed, entry acknowledged as pending with no big dialog, and the dialog appeared after the shift completed; no timing override was introduced. Basic big-bloom focus/keyboard paths and Escape were exercised; comprehensive keyboard/reduced-motion acceptance remains.
Discovered/fixed: Native dialog focus restoration scrolled the hidden grid container by 325px, offsetting the apparent anchor despite the correct camera transform. Return now clears that scroll; recheck measured the anchor at (520,240), 240px square in a 1280×720 viewport, with the exact same sampled module IDs. Clicking it removed small-bloom panels. Drag-following control/keyboard activation and pointer-release cleanup were also corrected during implementation.
Phone-sized browser evidence (mouse input, not a native phone): 390×844 module entry/drag/detail, detail content width without horizontal overflow, resize to 844×390 while big bloom remained open, then eight retained previews and an exactly centered 200px anchor on return. Viewport override restored. Babuni.dev’s earlier real-phone verification applies to the prior grid/small-bloom experience; this new layer awaits their device check. Gallery browser fullscreen could not be established in the preview environment; unsupported browsers now show a disabled explanatory control. YouTube embeds were not tested because URLs are deferred. No production deployment performed.
2026-10-26 — Big bloom grows inside the living grid
Context/source: Babuni.dev’s current screenshot and spoken design revision. Babuni.dev requested: Remove the big-bloom bar and persistent instructions. Big bloom should stay within the living grid, with surrounding tiles making physical space and continuing to shift outside it. Each module should occupy four tile areas. The chosen preview should transition to a central module; the original project tile should remain at original size in that module’s bottom-left quarter, opposite Read more, and back out one step. Reveal from the top in the website’s clockwise spiral; modules beyond nine extend down. Show more source information in big previews.
Iteration/decision: Babuni.dev first considered an original-size top-corner tile, then revised its location to the central module’s lower-left corner during the same request. AI followed the final placement. The earlier project-only modal canvas, top-left shrunken portal and independent pan camera are superseded. Random content assignment is retained, but spatial reveal is now ordered clockwise as explicitly requested. A small question-mark help tooltip is optional guidance, not a header.
AI implementation: Reused row-vacancy insertion/inversion and the existing grid camera/controller for 2×2 footprints. The selected module covers four cells but reserves only three vacancies: the fourth is the existing project tile, deliberately layered above the panel. Every other module reserves all four cells. No other tile/panel overlap is intended. Content/layout are independent; the first nine positions follow the site spiral, excess positions form three-column rows below. Text intros use up to 1,600 characters from actual bodies; gallery captions/counts, video lists and credits progressively expose context. Full detail and existing local video playback remain.
Timing/alternatives: Entry and return still wait for an active shift to complete naturally. AI reused the existing 720 ms camera travel, 520 ms horizontal vacancy displacement, 373 ms website entrance duration for the selected preview’s transit, and existing 260–420 ms reveal gaps. Tiles interpolate horizontally between old/new vacancy layouts; the camera moves the whole field. No per-column diagonal correction is added. The expanded horizontal tile buffer is bounded at six staging cells per side after first big entry; vertical buffering stays at two cells. This prevents blank edges around the wider reserved footprint without making a tall catalog increase tile-pool size indefinitely.
Verification: Results below. Open: Native-phone acceptance of the revised integrated layout, prolonged shift/identity behavior and cross-browser detail/fullscreen acceptance. Earlier Babuni.dev phone evidence concerns the previously tested grid/small bloom, not an invented acceptance of this change.
Tested/outcome: All 12 test files and production build pass; whitespace checks pass. New cases cover the site spiral, fixed three-column downward extension, ordered reveal gaps, 2×2 reservations with exactly one deliberate anchor exception, invertible mappings and non-overlapping horizontal expansion from small footprints, both vertical directions outside the footprint, bounded viewport coverage during distant panning, and longer source excerpts. Catalog sizes through 27 modules were tested; extra downward rows are verified by geometry tests, not fabricated real content.
Desktop browser: measured 240px original anchor and 480×480 modules, selected module centered at (400,120) in a 1280×720 viewport, no header and no big-bloom dialog. Pairwise tile/panel measurements found only the intentional original-anchor overlap. Dragging the card body moved the same world layer and exposed surrounding tiles without opening detail. A later body tap opened the real collaboration document; Escape retained the camera. The same eight sampled small IDs and a centered 240px anchor returned on Back/Escape. An autonomous shift was observed at the exposed edge; sampled start/end horizontal coordinates stayed fixed, and post-shift overlap checks found no unintended intersections. This is sampled browser evidence, not an exhaustive trajectory audit.
Phone-sized browser (mouse input, not native-device acceptance): at 390×844, measured 156px original anchor and 312×312 selected module, exact lower-left overlay, no native viewport scroll and no header. Card dragging did not activate detail. Gallery detail opened and returned; resize to 844×390 preserved big bloom at 400×400 modules with a 200px anchor. Clicking the actual project tile returned to eight small previews and an exactly centered 200px anchor. Viewport override restored. Basic document/gallery detail was rechecked; native fullscreen and YouTube playback remain outside this verification.
Discovered/fixed: The hidden-overflow viewport could retain native scroll after focus/clicking offscreen controls, offsetting the camera by 319px. Big bloom now clips native scrolling and resets it at depth boundaries, retaining transform-only positioning. Large-card taps needed explicit hit testing after grid pointer capture, while drags must suppress activation. Camera travel can be interrupted by pulling/arrow input, including during return, without cancelling the bloom. The prior larger-preview modal controller was reduced/renamed to module-detail; no duplicate field camera remains.
2026-10-26 — Four additional portal images
Babuni.dev requested: Connect four newly supplied portal images, identified in their folder screenshot. AI implemented: Copied FavorCraft.png, FlourishForever.png, ResistForever.png and SocialForever.png unchanged from the local portal-content folder and assigned them to their stable project IDs. Alternatives/decision: Reused explicit catalog assignment and the existing circular mask; no automatic filename discovery or asset editing was needed. Supply is credited to Babuni.dev, without asserting the images’ original production method. Verification: Results below. Interaction timing, portal size and bloom geometry remain unchanged.
Tested: All 12 test files, production build and whitespace checks pass. Each new asset is a 1254×1254 PNG; SHA-256 comparison confirms the copied file matches the supplied source exactly. Browser rendering is checked in the local testing handoff; no new native-phone acceptance is claimed.
2026-10-26 — Stronger action and waiting feedback
Babuni.dev reported: The current design looks and feels good. Babuni.dev requested: Stronger immediate tile/button acknowledgement, a more conspicuous waiting/preparation glow and a slightly faster pulse, especially when switching blooms feels unresponsive. Also asked for a focused testing checklist and the next milestone.
AI implemented: Stronger gold outline/halo, 1400 ms opacity pulses (previously 1600 ms), steady reduced-motion feedback, a 240 ms press highlight for pointer/Enter/Space, and persistent busy feedback on the Read more button that queued a depth change. The pending button clears when the action begins, is replaced or cancelled. The original tile now indicates centering and preparation, not only a running-shift wait. CSS affects colors/opacity/shadows, not tile scale or layout.
Alternatives/decision: Stronger visual acknowledgement was explicitly authorized; accelerating shifts or delaying button navigation was not requested and was not introduced. Shift, centering, expansion and module reveal clocks remain unchanged. AI selected the precise 1400/240 ms feedback values within Babuni.dev’s direction. Overall positive feedback is recorded as human experience, not an invented new phone/cross-browser test. Verification: Results below.
Tested/outcome: All 12 test files, production build and whitespace checks pass. Browser observed an immediately pressed/busy tile with the 1.4-second computed pulse. During a real autonomous shift, the clicked Read more button and selected tile were both aria-busy=true and visibly highlighted while big bloom had not started. After entry/preparation settled, the button waiting class cleared, tile aria-busy returned to false and no waiting tiles remained. Enter opened a real Changelog detail; the Back button returned to big bloom without changing the navigation flow. A waiting-state screenshot was saved outside the repository for the user handoff. No new native-device or reduced-motion browser emulation is claimed; CSS retains the existing global reduced-motion animation bypass.
Discovered/fixed: The preparation timer could settle just before the last camera animation frame, leaving a stale busy highlight. The camera completion path now refreshes feedback after clearing centering; closing geometry is also included in preparation state. This changes acknowledgement state only, not camera/shift durations.
2026-10-25 — Retrospective: Deep viewing and image interaction
Babuni.dev direction. Small bloom should be a brief preview; full bloom a larger project-specific preview; individual modules lead to complete content. Long descriptions and dev logs use normal scrollable readers. Galleries should have a fixed-size prominent center image and freely moving neighbors; images exchange places smoothly. A separate control enables art-only fullscreen. Hovering among multiple videos could show a short video preview.
AI contribution. The assistant summarized four interaction depths and tested options for gallery movement.
Outcome. Media and document viewer requirements captured for prototyping. Video-preview specifics are not yet finalized.
2026-10-25 — Retrospective: No edges, no loading wall
Babuni.dev direction. Babuni.dev observed that a finite portfolio cannot infinitely fill a draggable screen. Tiles that exit one side should re-enter as buffer tiles on the opposite side. The visible field must always be covered, even on unusual screen sizes; repetition is permissible. The site should begin with one central tile and progressively materialize adjacent tiles. Offscreen cells should be ready for shifts, without loading every project body immediately.
AI contribution. The assistant identified a toroidal or recyclable grid model, recommended decoupling unique projects from rendered instances, and sketched progressive preloading.
Outcome. Infinite recycling and central-out loading became foundational prototype requirements, not later visual polish.
2026-10-25 — Retrospective: Development environment and source of truth
Babuni.dev direction. Development should be possible through cloud agents connected to GitHub, then pulled to Nobara Linux for local testing; local Ollama agents may be used later. Babuni.dev wants project history itself to become portfolio content.
Actions reported by Babuni.dev. Public GitHub repository babunidev/babuni.dev was created and cloned. Node.js 24 and npm were installed; Astro 7.4.2 was initialized locally and served successfully at localhost:4321. New Astro files were staged, but the first local commit was initially blocked by missing Git author identity.
Repository verification when preparing this journal. The GitHub default branch contained the initial README and .gitignore; the local Astro files had not yet appeared remotely.
Outcome. Documentation-first workflow established, with cloud development and local test/pull as the intended model.
2026-10-25 — Documentation as the work, not paperwork
Babuni.dev direction. Babuni.dev requested high-quality concept, journal, changelog, decisions, design, architecture, and content documentation. Crucially, they required the journal to record their involvement: what they were trying to communicate to AI, what AI did with it, which decisions they made, and how that shaped the feature. Project-related conversations should inform the narrative, without requiring a verbatim transcript.
AI contribution. The assistant proposed separate documents and an attribution model: Babuni.dev direction, agent proposal, decision, implementation, and verification.
Action. An initial public documentation baseline and copyable ChatGPT project instruction file were prepared on a separate GitHub branch so Babuni.dev's local Astro work would not be overwritten.
Open. Project-specific ChatGPT settings must be updated by the user in the ChatGPT UI; the Markdown file itself cannot enforce those settings. Future agents must use available conversations and explicitly provided sources, not pretend to possess a complete conversation archive.
2026-10-24 — Retrospective: From portfolio to toy box
Type: Concept conversation reconstructed from the Babuni.dev project discussion.
Implementation: None claimed.
Babuni.dev direction. Babuni.dev wanted a website for projects, images, files, concepts, embedded video, and development logs, hosted on a VPS using babuni.dev. A conventional blog felt too rigid. The preferred metaphor became a box of toys: visitors should feel free to pick things up, inspect them, set them aside, and discover unfinished as well as completed work.
AI contribution. The assistant initially recommended a project-oriented content architecture and later explored staged disclosure and navigational gestures.
Iteration and Babuni.dev decisions. Babuni.dev preferred non-linear, initially busy discovery that became clearer through attention. Hovering a toy should give a clue; clicking it should open a first preview; selecting again should move deeper. Scroll-wheel-as-navigation was explored but rejected because it conflicted with ordinary reading. A conventional back route was kept for detailed content.
Outcome. A four-depth model emerged: grid, small bloom, full bloom, expanded content. This was an interaction specification, not an implementation.
2026-10-24 — Retrospective: Living rows and columns
Babuni.dev direction. Instead of arbitrary floating objects, Babuni.dev proposed a roughly 6 × 4 grid of squares, where entire rows or columns shift by one cell. The pace should be slow and smooth, like drifting stone plates.
AI contribution. The assistant clarified moving-line rules and asked about simultaneous moves and low-power alternatives.
Babuni.dev decisions. A round randomly chooses horizontal or vertical. Each eligible line rolls d20; a roll greater than ten succeeds. Initiative can bias earlier lines with +4, +3, +2, +1. Fading to a relocated position was suggested as a possible cheaper low-power presentation, to be tested rather than assumed faster.
Outcome. A rules-driven grid, with the detailed generalized algorithm left open.
2026-10-24–25 — Retrospective: Stone portal identity and bloom geometry
Babuni.dev direction. Each project should occupy a stylized stone tile with an engraved title and a recessed, colorful portal at its center. Babuni.dev moved away from detailed Aztec-inspired textures toward original, cleaner project-specific engravings. The four lights on the portal frame should spawn informational holographic bubbles, not buttons or shortcuts. Bubbles occasionally pop up independently, show individually on point hover, and collectively after lingering on the tile.
AI contribution. A sequence of visual concepts explored portal treatments, callouts, dense grids, and expanded projects. Some generated images mistakenly used bubbles as navigation or let the bloom float above tiles.
Babuni.dev corrections and decisions. A small bloom must occupy actual neighboring tile cells and cause those tiles to move; it is not merely an overlapping dashboard. The full bloom hides all other project tiles. The chosen tile remains as the center anchor; its portal can close the project. Media and text previews surround it in simpler frames.
Outcome. Stronger specification for cell-reserving bloom and contextual portal callouts. Visual mockups remain exploratory assets, not implementation references guaranteed pixel-perfect.
