Development journal
A concise, public-facing development history told from the human creative's perspective. Creative choices and AI assistance remain distinguishable. Earlier entries are retained as records of stages that preceded the expanded family project.
2026-11-01 — Establishing the archive
With Buxbrew's stories and family history gathered into a dedicated project, I wanted a place where confirmed character facts could coexist with adventures and new fiction without losing their boundaries. The initial repository established separate areas for the character, her family, relationships, places, stories and a gameplay journal. AI assistance helped organize and revise the documentation; the creative choices and canon remain mine.
2026-11-01 — Making the structure useful
The first version already had the right categories, but many pages held empty headings despite details established in other discussions. During this documentation review, I directed AI assistance toward expanding those pages from the current canon, clarifying where memories differ from fiction and adding concise records for decisions and collaboration. The sisters' birth-order question was kept open pending an explicit decision.
2026-11-01 — Bringing the Amberbrews home
After the repository audit, I settled the old contradiction: Loni, known as Lonebrew, is Buxbrew's older sister, and Buxbrew is the younger one. Her given name is Loni Amberbrew. Another missing relative was Arandor Amberbrew, Buxbrew's father, a hunter who is often away somewhere on his travels; Morkah remains the grandfather. Using AI assistance, the archive was then expanded with previously established details from our character conversations, while keeping dramatized events and undated anecdotes separate from proven gameplay. The family pages, canon, chronology and continuity notes were updated to agree.
2026-11-01 — From Buxbrew to Amberbrew Story
As the family's place in the project became clearer, the single-character name felt too narrow. During a discussion about how these stories should be approached, I decided to make the whole Amberbrew family the subject, with Buxbrew still leading the first stage. The repository became AmberbrewStory, reflecting that broader direction without discarding the earlier character archive.
2026-11-01 — Defining the feeling, then documenting it
Ten questions helped clarify what I wanted future Amberbrew writing to preserve: grounded language with a little poetry, characters discovered through lived moments, a warm and imperfect family, natural humor, unhurried pacing and mysteries that can remain unexplained. Playing Buxbrew will bring the adventures; attention to everyday life will give the family room to exist beyond them. AI asked the questions and drafted a synthesis of the answers, then helped organize the confirmed choices in the project's concept, writing guide, decisions and roadmap. This was documentation work, not the writing of new stories.
2026-11-01 — Writing the stories after documenting the rules
With the family archive and writing principles in place, I asked for the Amberbrew stories discussed in earlier conversations to be gathered and rewritten for the repository. The first adventure gave us a recognizable path through Dun Morogh and Thelsamar toward Loch Modan, while the rest of the family deserved quieter pages of their own. AI reconstructed seven literary scenes from recovered discussion summaries and the existing canon pages, including invented dialogue and small domestic details. Their notes distinguish source-based events from dramatization; none was entered as verified gameplay or silently adopted as permanent canon.
2026-11-01 — Finding the family's voice on the page
Reading the first group of stories, I wanted the narration to stay closer to Jasmine's experience without repeatedly calling her by the nickname other people gave her. The family's guests and friends may call her Buxbrew, but the prose can usually simply say she. More of the daily movement, textures and little events belong between the spoken lines, too. After I clarified that approach and the spelling of Arandor's name, AI revised the seven chapters and corrected the family references across the repository.
