Concept — Amberbrew Story
From one character to a family
What began as a place to preserve Buxbrew's character history grew into Amberbrew Story, because the people around her have lives worth following too. Jasmine “Buxbrew” Amberbrew remains the main focus at the beginning, but my intention is to let the project belong to the entire Dark Iron Amberbrew family. Bess, Arandor, Loni, Morkah and those passing through their lives are not merely supporting characters arranged around a single hero.
This is an evolving character and family archive within World of Warcraft, particularly World of Warcraft Forever. It has no predetermined ending or required epic storyline.
A story lived, then understood
Playing Buxbrew and taking part in roleplaying sessions will provide many events, discoveries and adventures. Alongside those experiences, I want the everyday parts of family life to receive attention: brewing, cooking, guests, work, journeys home, habits, pauses and small moments between the larger events. Actual play is one source; imagined but believable connective moments can enrich it without rewriting what happened.
The difference matters. Gameplay memories, original family history, fictional scenes and proposals should remain distinguishable. This archive preserves what is established while leaving freedom to invent within the gaps.
An unusual family with a good heart
The Amberbrews do not have to be perfect or typical of Dark Iron society. Their absences, responsibilities, eccentric interests and occasional faults make them recognizable. Still, the center of their story is affection, mutual support and hospitality rather than bitterness or family drama. My interest is in a warm, entertaining and believable household, with humor that arrives naturally instead of being performed for an audience.
A window, not a stage
The most useful picture of the project is a passerby quietly looking through a window toward the Amberbrew tavern hidden in Ironforge: people come and go, conversations carry on, and only fragments of the household are visible. A reader should feel welcome to witness those lives without being asked to solve everything they glimpse.
This image expresses the intended reader experience, not a newly approved architectural plan for the brewery. The effect I want is curious wonder — a sense that the family and its world continue unseen beyond each page.
World and continuity
Warcraft's existing lore is a welcome foundation. My original Dark Iron family history can occupy spaces the official setting has not fully explained, without presenting fan-created facts as Blizzard canon. World of Warcraft Forever may add or change lore as it develops, so future material must respect confirmed changes rather than treating every current interpretation as permanent.
A character's private thoughts, a relative's history or an unfamiliar object need not be explained. Some mysteries should be allowed to remain mysteries indefinitely.
What this project is not
- Not a high-intensity epic, a conventional conflict-and-climax formula or a planned series of revelations
- Not a sitcom built around jokes, humiliation or constant exaggerated mishaps
- Not an omniscient account that explains every feeling, secret or motivation
- Not a replacement for Warcraft canon or a claim that Amberbrew fan lore is official
- Not a demand to turn every conversation or remembered incident into a mandatory story chapter
The practical storytelling standards are recorded in WRITING-GUIDE.md. Confirmed project decisions and their provenance are recorded separately in docs/DECISIONS.md.
